Hoping link to previous thread works!

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/2320549-Ashamed-of-my-beauty-product-hoard?pg=1

Continuation of the thread where I realised I was not alone in my hoarding of all things make-up/beauty/skincare/toiletries.

Lots of lovely mumsnetters who encourage each other to use and enjoy all those lovely products, and at the same time try to reduce our spending on unnecessaries!

Oh and KP= keratosis pilaris!

kwick · 02/06/2016 20:37

Thank you welltidy and frustratedfrugal! I have KP too - only thing I have found that helps is a facial wash containing lactic acid but this has been discontinued (I am on to my penultimate stashed bottle) so I am defo on the look out for alternative treatments.

Not sure if it was on here that someone said the Superdrug hot cloth polish was good - I just tried the vitamin e one - LOVELY!!!

MinnieF1 · 03/06/2016 23:02

I have finished a few things this week! A simple micellar water (have a back up), a Clinique daytime moisturiser, a Hey Honey primer (sample), a ren cleansing milk (sample) and a Bee Good moisturiser (sample).

I have bought some Boire charcoal products. The blackhead strips were ok but the charcoal cleanser is amazing!

I think I'm going to put together a bag/box of makeup items to use everyday to help me to keep on top of what I need to use up. I'm not very good at sticking to one foundation and my stash is getting silly now Blush

MotherBluestocking · 03/06/2016 23:11

In the last week I have finished:
Eve Lom TLC Radiance Cream (gorgeous - would repurchase if I didn't have ten other moisturisers gathering dust)
Darphin Intral Soothing Cream (bought during an uncharacteristically sensitive patch)
And I opened a Neal's Yard moisturiser (free with mag, yonks ago) to discover it had gone off.
So I feel I'm back in the game.

applesandpears33 · 03/06/2016 23:38

Another empty - Bayliss and Harding body lotion. It was OK, but nothing special. I can see though that I am making progress and that there are fewer lotions and potions than before.

kwick · 04/06/2016 08:49

Well done Minnie!

mother how did you tell it had gone off? Smell?

I have 2 empties today:

  • yves rocher jardins du monde almond - this has been discontinued SadSadSadSad - shame as it was a great everyday shower gel
  • nirvae hand and body lotion picked up on travels - hotel amenity size
FrustratedFrugal · 04/06/2016 12:32

I finished a glass jar of mixed BB cream = some slightly too dark Dr Jart mixed with some too-pale Missha BB cream. I'm pretty pale and hard to match, so custom mixes are fab on me and this one lasted about a month. Now debating whether I should use up my remaining Lily Lolo mineral foundation (several pale shades mixed together), start using up a sheerer version of Dr Jart, or open a brand-new Korean BB cushion.

dogdaydisaster · 04/06/2016 12:58

I chucked a L'Occitane hand cream this week, it stank of baby wipes so I binned it. Luckily it was only the mini size.

Also finished the Superfacialist orange cleansing oil, which is lovely. I have a no7 oil to use before I buy another one.

MotherBluestocking · 04/06/2016 22:04

quick - it smelt minging.

MotherBluestocking · 04/06/2016 22:04

oops - I meant kwick

FiveShelties · 06/06/2016 09:45

Two more gone here - a Garnier Toner which semed to last for ages, not replacing as I have a bottle of Garnier Micellar Water to try. Another shower gel used up and around 10 more to go.

dogdaydisaster · 06/06/2016 09:45

Morning all
Used up a No7 foundation this weekend, the stay perfect. It was OK but I'm not convinced the colour match (cool vanilla) was perfect for me despite their fancy machine thingy. I also learned that using fingers to apply foundation is definitely not a way that works for me, thank God I looked in the mirror before leaving the house!

Paperblank · 06/06/2016 10:13

Dog I never use my fingers to apply foundation. It always looked dreadful so I started using a brush for liquid foundation and a blending sponge for more creamy formulations. Looks so much better these days!

kwick · 06/06/2016 11:07

Off sick as got ill with lurgy on Saturday pm - never before has a lurgy come on soooo quick: one minute I was buying sweeties with my nephew, next minute I had a raging sore throat and gunge coming out of nose Sad

Hoping a day at home (well another after yesterday) will put me to rights.

Have an empty:
Portugal (peruvian brand) quinoa and oat body lotion - really goes in nicely, mild fragrance, but I like matchey-matchey.

kwick · 06/06/2016 11:18

I have another empty! Monuspa rosewood reviving mist - had this for a few years, often forget to use, I think it came free in a mag or part of a Glossybox. I also have Caudalie Beauty Elixir - I love the smell, although it has yet to make me beautiful...Hmm

BTW I often apply foundation with my fingers... But each to their own Grin

FrustratedFrugal · 06/06/2016 15:50

Decided to tackle my mineral foundation stash next. I have enough for 1-2 months. About 3 days in already.

Ememem84 · 06/06/2016 21:28

Jo Malone body lotion finished. Only a mini travel size. But still!

And am out of regular sized Deodourant. So am using up a collection of miniatures.

Have also been able to fill my atomiser again with perfume. So it's being used up too. Yay!

Other than that...nothing.

StewardsEnquiry · 07/06/2016 21:04

A couple of finished products this week. First was Mac Prep and Prime primer. It had been sitting on my dressing table for ages but I made an effort to use it every day so now it is gone. Once I was using it every day I actually started to like it (Frugal you find that too, don't you?). I might buy it again but not sure I desperately need a primer step at all at the moment.

Also finished a Flexitol heel cream. This is quite a staple product but as it has no fragrance I don't get any pleasure from using it. Did someone up thread recommend a Soap and Glory heel cream that smells lovely? I might get that next.

I have finished a Percy and Reed shampoo which was fine. I have a oartly used Aveda one for next.

Also probably only one squeeze of Body Shop pink grapefruit shower gel left. I'm going on to a Korres fig one next.

I have the Body Shop body sorbet in pink grapefruit but I I'm not really using it at all. I thought it might be good for hot weather because it is so light but my skin is drier than this can cope with. It is just not moisturising enough. Any ideas what I can do with it?

FreeButtonBee · 07/06/2016 22:42

Finished a garnier micellar water when away for the weekend. Didn't love it, prefer the bioderma sensibo one which I have just repurchased. Also finished a Clinique facial scrub - 7 day scrub. It was sample size and I do quite like it but mostly use chemical exfoliation these days so not sure I am in the market for one at the moment. No hurry, I can pick it up some other time.

Almost finished a Korean honey essence oil which I love. I have a back up though.

Not much movement on the makeup front. I just don't wear it enough day to day as I'm on mat leave and have three under 4. Just pointless! I will make more of an effort when I go back to work.

kwick · 08/06/2016 07:15

Okay so I have a few more empties:

  • azur de puig eau de toilette - love this smell, great on spots!
  • loreal age perfect cleansing milk - I tried this after Caroline Hirons recommended as a budget buy - I already had a stash waiting Blush as this has now become a staple in my skincare routine (I have a big haul of cleansers and I generally only repeat same product every 1-2 days)
  • Clinique turnaround overnight travel size - was nice and moisurising
PepeLePew · 08/06/2016 22:35

Emptied a Body Shop mango shower gel. Have a lovely smelling Korres one ready to go but may wade through another Body Shop one first.

kwick · 09/06/2016 07:06

Just finished a Creme de la Mer the reparative body lotion. It went on very nicely but there is no way I would spend a gazillion pounds on getting this full size.

Hippywannabe · 09/06/2016 17:15

The Body Shop eye shadow palette that I may have mentioned on the last thread has finally been finished and disposed of!

kwick · 09/06/2016 18:11

Wow well done hippy I do not think I have ever finished a palette!

kwick · 10/06/2016 07:24

So my empties this morning are:
First Aid Beauty ultra repair cream - quite moisturising but not that pleasant to use, already have substitute in stock
Loreal Elvive clay shampoo and conditioner - My hair seems to like this, I al ready had back up stock
