Hoping link to previous thread works!

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/2320549-Ashamed-of-my-beauty-product-hoard?pg=1

Continuation of the thread where I realised I was not alone in my hoarding of all things make-up/beauty/skincare/toiletries.

Lots of lovely mumsnetters who encourage each other to use and enjoy all those lovely products, and at the same time try to reduce our spending on unnecessaries!

Welcome bluedolphin you are amongst friends :) I am a lover of make-up too.... Even though I do not wear much!

No7 high shine lip crayon dead - already have a new one at the ready!

Bluedolphin1971 · 13/04/2016 21:29

I made a New Years resolution this year to wear make up majority of the time to try and use my make up. 99%of my make up collection hasn't even been opened 😳. Lip products are my thing, I especially love liquid lipsticks, can't get enough of them lol. I have used up 3 lipsticks so far this year and am nearly finished another one I constantly apply lipstick throughout the day so I'm confident I will finish a few this year.

I currently love watch icon the you tube videos where they are trying to use up a certain amount of their makeup. That's what inspired me to write down what I would like use up this year. On my list I have 90 products I want to use up, have currently used 6 so we will see how it goes. I know I won't use it all up, but I'm going to give it a damn good try lol.

Glad I found this thread x

RainbowBlue · 13/04/2016 22:12

So I counted my lip products and I have 33 open products! How did I get to this stageShock and inevitably many of them are the same colours (nude brownie pink!). Is this a lot? Please tell me I'm not the only one Blush

On the plus side I've finished a Clinique chubby stick in chunky cherry and Clinique longwear gloss in juicy Apple Grin

Pumperthepumper · 13/04/2016 22:59

Finished a Clarins exfoliating toner but have another one waiting in the wings, and a tub of clearasil pads that I probably wouldn't buy again. Also finished a bottle of listerine, which is boring but weirdly felt satisfying to see the empty bottle. Have ordered dragons blood pads and a Vichey serum so not saving any space in the bathroom but at least I don't have loads of nearly-empty bottles hanging about. Also got the dregs of a bottle of Pixi glow tonic that I'll use up over the next week. I love this!

Kwick709 · 14/04/2016 05:20

I used up Lush Happy Happy Joy Joy hair conditioner this morning - great for when I am travelling. Many have complimented me on how nice my hair smells when I use it. I will probably re-purchase but not until I have used up everything else!

FrustratedFrugal · 14/04/2016 06:06

Rainbow I think I have about 30 lipsticks. I wear lipstick every day and have finished two or three over the past year. Mine are mostly mauve MLBB pinks or mid-pinks with a couple of brights thrown in. I think trying to find the perfect shade and texture landed me here...

Costacoffeeplease · 14/04/2016 06:49

I was on the last thread but haven't posted for a while - I'm finally coming to the end of the multiple bottles of Liz Earle skin tonic that I had, I have no idea how I accumulated so many but using it every day has paid off and I probably only have a week or so to go

Finished a chubby stick, I think it was whole lotta honey, but have another one (or two) to replace it. Almost finished a 400ml Gatineau hand cream (with another in stock), so quite a few empties, but I have bought quite a few bits (much less than before these threads though Smile)

RainbowBlue · 14/04/2016 11:17

Frugal - thanks - I think that's me too, looking for the perfect shade. And then falling for all that stuff about re-vamping your look by introducing a 'new' lipstick shade so bright pinks or corals and then looking for the perfect shade in those Blush. It makes me feel better that there's someone else out there Grin

Dreamqueen · 14/04/2016 11:32

I've come to join you on here. I got to nearly the end of doing a super drug order this morning and quickly came to my senses. I really didn't need 3 more eye palettes.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/04/2016 19:57

Finished a Soap&Glory shower gel today
One day left in a Good Things Face Scrub
DH shampoo nearly gone.

I was very excited thinking I had a bottle of L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil,....but it was BodyShop Satsuma.

Kwick709 · 14/04/2016 20:36

Welcome dreamqueen & well done!

Paperblank · 14/04/2016 21:15

I am going to make a list next week of all the products in my stash. I will probably have to go and have a lie down in a dark room afterwards....

I thought that if I did this it might help me stay on track Grin

Wombat87 · 14/04/2016 21:28

Hello. Can I join you? I'm off to aus for a year in 3 months and have a lot of stuff. The make up I accept can be binned - but it's the other kind lotions and potions i struggle with. I love to buy when you get free samples. And i keep the samples in case I need them. But I don't use them :( some can come to aus as we are backpacking for 6months. I have a problem. I know I do. I just love opening the cupboard and seeing all my products. And the top drawer. And the bottom drawer. And the 3 drawers in the spare room.

Paperblank · 15/04/2016 09:14

Wombat Have a wonderful trip!!

I don't know how you would feel about this but you might be able to donate unopened products to your local women's aid?

And although it is slightly against the rules of using stuff up eBay might also be your friend Grin

Don't be Sad about all your lovely potions and lotions just think of all those new products to discover in Australia!!

FiveShelties · 15/04/2016 10:24

A body moisturiser bites the dust - no need to repace as many more in the cupboard. I am starting to make a little headway on the stock, but a long way to go.

Have a fantastic trip Wombat - you will need lots of sunscreen!

LesIncompetents · 15/04/2016 11:08

Wombat I am very envious of your trip to Oz! Definitely agree with looking at eBay or FB selling pages for getting rid of some stuff, plus you get some extra spending money for your trip 😉

I've used up another little bottle of perfume oil in the bath (a word of caution though, remember to clean the bath afterwards. Otherwise your DH will end up cursing you when he goes to have a shower and falls head over arse into an oil slick Blush)

Also finished the Juicy Couture perfume. I've had a sort out of make-up too, Ive got a few old benefit sets that really need using up so I've started wearing them every day.

Paperblank · 15/04/2016 12:36

Les

Did you laugh? I would have

LesIncompetents · 15/04/2016 12:56

Paperblank I was downstairs having a cuppa when I heard a big crash and groaning. So I did what any concerned wife would do and sent the DC up to check he was ok whilst I finished my Brew Grin

Woodhill · 15/04/2016 18:03

Yes agree, it's the samples. I'm now trying to use up sachets and samples.

I still order a beauty box every month. Can't quite give it up.

MotherBluestocking · 15/04/2016 18:14

Having lurked on this thread for a while I think it's time to leave the closet. I have a full bathroom cabinet, an overflow basket, an overflow box in the bedroom, three boxes of haircare products and a bookcase of makeup. Oh, and a further overflow stash in my handbag cupboard. And three acrylic organisers on my dressing table.
I need to get a grip.
I'm sure making a list would be a good discipline, but I have a PhD to write.

Kwick709 · 15/04/2016 20:13

Welcome wombat!

WellTidy · 15/04/2016 20:20

Rainbow I have at least 30 lipsticks/glosses/crayons too. They're all different colours, but they are much of a muchness. Except for the ones that were gifts with purchases, and I've put these into a bag (another gift with purchase) and to give to my cleaner. They're brand new. This still leaves me with at least 20. I like them all, so I'm reticent to throw them out, but I haven't bought a lipstick for over a year, so I am slowly getting through them.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/04/2016 20:22

Several face scrubs and wash off cleansers (used by DH and the DC) finished, I had a BodyShop TeaTree foam cleanser and a Superdrug Oatmeal scrub to take their places.

Enough shampoo/conditioner under the sink to open my own chemist so we need to use that.

I was perusing a display of Soap&Glory lipsticks but I said "No" and walked away.

Grin
Paperblank · 16/04/2016 11:59

Les I like your style. Reminds me of the time I came home from work to find DH wincing in pain because he'd banged his head on the radiator...he was -ahem- doing a bit of manscaping whilst sat on the edge of the bath. He leant back to check his handiwork and fell off the bath. It was definitely a tena lady moment Grin.

Ememem84 · 16/04/2016 18:10

Fell off the thread. Emptied since last entry have been boring.

Clarins face wash gel - today.
Dove deodourant -necessary
Boots coconut shower gel.

Am slowly using up my stash. May actually need to buy clarins soon..:!
