motherinferior · 07/08/2015 15:24

I am rather chuffed that I've just had a tweet from the former Times news ed who says a feature I've done on foster care is a 'must read'.

MrsSchadenfreude · 07/08/2015 15:34

LOL.Grin

Stropperella · 07/08/2015 15:59

Congratulations, MI. Is there a link you could give us?

Blackduck · 07/08/2015 16:31

MI good for you!

Here wading through laundry... At least it's warm enough to dry fairly quickly.....

motherinferior · 07/08/2015 16:57

It's a piece in The Fostering Network's in-house mag - I think this chap fosters. He retweets quite a lot on fostering.

I just fell asleep for 45 minutes. Grotty nights. And a trip to Nch tomorrow. Such fun...

NUFC69 · 07/08/2015 20:50

Honey, I'm home. Sorry I have been AWOL, I have only just got over DSis's visit (10 days until next visitor). DH is snoring on the sofa, whilst allegedly watching football. Sorry to hear about DM, MI, but well done on the fostering piece. Welcome home, Rose and BD; your hols still sound interesting, BTM, weather not withstanding. QQ, are you and DH talking? Not sure if I said previously that the reason we were delayed overnight in Edmonton was because DH took the wrong suitcase off the conveyor belt, so I know exactly how you are feeling. Hatty, I only ever wear black jogging pants in the house as I am always splashing bleach around.. Is this a Crepey attributes, she ponders.

Stropps, hope you're less tired now and what a nuisance about DD and the appointment.

NUFC69 · 07/08/2015 20:57

MrsS, I hope DH is over the hangover by now. Lots to do in Yorkshire - we love the Dales.

We have just booked a couple of weeks in (for us) a posh hotel in Cyprus. As I said, next visitor arrives in10 days, then we're going to the Midlands at the beginning of September, followed by our American friends coming for a few days - we're already tired so felt we needed some cosseting.

Oh, and I have two pairs of harem trousers, but I have decided they are so comfortable I don't care what I look like in them.

herbaceous · 07/08/2015 22:21

I avoid getting bleach on my harems/shorts/clothes by the simple method of not doing any cleaning. I recommend it.

Rosebag · 07/08/2015 22:48

Great news MI Be deservedly proud! Hope it's ok at DM visit tomorrow x

Waves to NU ....your schedule seems exhausting. Good on you for booking a break!

I have just crawled into bed at the flat....very much benefitting from its proximity to Gatwick and not needing to battle our way to Victoria ....only to carry on battling home to Norf London. Love my flat. Night night Crepeys.

Auriga · 07/08/2015 22:55

I'm trying to kick the bleach habit but not out of consideration for my clothes, since I the ones I wear at home are mostly old & ragged anyway.

Welcome back BD, NUFC and Rosebag. Glad to hear other wanderers are still having a good time.

Stropps, sorry to hear you're so whacked. Can you have a bit of rest at the weekend? Is there a way to dissipate the anger, for the sake of your health? I take DDog for extra (very brisk) walks to work off the rage with DM but I think you habitually do more exercise than I do.

MI well done on article, will try to track it down.

QQ we've seen how easy it could be to miss a plane from Luton. DH actually broke out in a cold sweat & I got quite worried about him. Delays at the Dartford Crossing, road works, wait for bus from car park, security queue, then long walk and transit to gate, etc, all added up. Glad you managed to sort out another flight and hope the holiday makes up for the stress of the journey.

Glad I don't have to go to Ikea Smile

beachyhead · 07/08/2015 23:07

Rose, I was at your favourite hotel and spa tonight, meeting friends for drinks.... Definitely up for a lovely breakfast/lunch/walk in the next couple of weeks.

bigTillyMint · 08/08/2015 04:27

Hola Crepsters! Well I survived the Hometown visit, but only just (DHs family emigrated when he was 5) - lunch visit to the neighbours was 3 hours too long (I didn't think there was another 70yr old man worse than DFIL, but his old best mate (DFILs) is. Then, after a tour of his old sporting haunts, DH took us to where we were staying for the night. Readers, it was a caravan (static) In winter. Thankfully we went out for dinner with one of DHs old school/uni friends who now manages a decent pub there, so it was just a question of sleeping there before we left to come to our friends who live in a massive old house in the countryside.

Well done MIFlowers
QQ hope no news is good news
MrsS, you're slipping - surely it should be you with a hangover? Wink
Stropps, hope you can get a nap in.

motherinferior · 08/08/2015 07:17

Oh dear god my journey to Norwich is ALREADY delayed as trains from local station are f*cked. And I am sleeping really badly with night sweats again so am feeling vvvvv sorry for self.

OTOH I do not have daughters of any kind to contend with - Thanks to Stropps - and I slept in a perfectly functional bed.

bigTillyMint · 08/08/2015 07:35

Oh dear! HRT?

Blackduck · 08/08/2015 07:40

MI sorry to hear...
Raging insomnia here mainly caused by fact they still are going to make my team member redundant and she has decided to take VR.... Not sure where this leaves the rest of us as we simply can't pick up the slack....

cremolafoam · 08/08/2015 07:46

MI hope there is forward movement now. Seems to have been a desperate week for planes trains and automobiles in the Crepey massive.Sad KOBO

Off to work this morning, my first Saturday in a long time. and naturally after weeks of wet weekends, the sun is splitting the trees. Sods Law.
Have a lovely weekend Crepeys.Thanks

wordassociationfootball · 08/08/2015 08:15

Not a bleachy crepey either.

Stropps that sounds like a wailingly exhausting situation.

Btm cold caravans - bleurgh.

MI soz re crap sleep plus Norwich

BD bummer re colleague.

Rose: own bed after hol = bliss.

Crem sod at work indeed. Remind me what KOBO means... I:m thinking kicking and bollocks but not sure.

Cyprus sounds nice NU.

Here we have to leave Cottage of Darkness having cleaned and changed beds and move to two Small Flats Of Darkness. Seen some of your picks Lalsy. Last 2 days have been rather nice.

lalsy · 08/08/2015 08:20

Yes what the chuff are you lot spending so much time with bleach for? Is this yet another domestic basic that I don't do?

WAF are you moving on in same area? Weve had some glorious late afternoons/ early evenings.

lalsy · 08/08/2015 08:56

Lost a post - Stropps that is exhausting. Which is more important to you - getting home time or being in touch with plans?

And not read lots of posts - very thick air here!

motherinferior · 08/08/2015 09:46

A quite extraordinary number of people on my train are drinking beer.

bigTillyMint · 08/08/2015 10:36

Are they Kiwis/Aussies? There's a big match on shortly.

hattymattie · 08/08/2015 13:24

MI - I know exactly how you feel with bad nights and seats. I bought some herbal nytol which seems to help a little - otherwise I'm like some sort of psycho woman.

wordassociationfootball · 08/08/2015 13:32

Lalsy we moved about 50 feet! Curiously head banging. Glorious on beach today. And yesterday was amazing with a crazy belt of cold cloud in the p.m that moved on its way and left a warm sunny afternoon.

motherinferior · 08/08/2015 18:09

They're Crystal Palace supporters. Now we're all on the train home...

NUFC69 · 08/08/2015 20:44

Ah, yes, MI; I had forgotten they were playing Norwich. No doubt they are very happy because they won. How did you get on with DM?

I spent the latter half of the morning typing up recipes which were on scraps of paper, and the afternoon weeding the garden paths. Exciting life, me.
