Don't go there Herbs - I did exactly what MI describes - bought hareems thinking I'd somehow look like DD's - holiday photos reveal me to be grumpy looking old woman in badly fitting trousersConfused. You have been warnedGrin.

QQ - sounds like a nightmare - hope you make it to Denmark and hope you're managing to maintain - ahem cordial relations with DH.

Anybody heard from NU recently - waves.

Stropperella · 06/08/2015 17:52

Major bummer, QQ. Hope you manage to have a trip which is so good it erases the memory of today's unfortunate events. A vain hope, perhaps, but still.

Dd has, as predicted, refused to attend the GP's appointment. I feel very tired.

I do actually feel ridiculously tired, sort of tired-in-my-bones. My eyes appear to have sunk into my head as well. Nice. No idea what that is about, but I've just done the big Tesco shop and am having to have an old-lady-sit-down before I can even contemplate doing some very easy pasta thing for supper.

Rosebag · 06/08/2015 17:54

Ah bless you QQ what a stress! But shit happens. You will get there and it'll be ok. Hugs to you. Travel disruption of any sort is hard on the stress levels. Flowers

My hush harems went straight back from whence they came...I bought some black linens instead hides from S&B jury

Great about the work MI !! Can some of it wait till after the hols?

We are packing for homeward bound trip tomorrow. Everyone is ratty. There is too much smelly washing for the suitcases. There is a fair amount of stuff drying on the balcony. DH and DS are bickering and trying to check in to the flight online using an iPad. It is 35 degrees. Whatever wonderful place we have been to and however wonderful a time we have had...I always look forward to my own bed. Tell me I'm not alone in this....

Rosebag · 06/08/2015 17:55

X post. Sorry stropps Flowers

motherinferior · 06/08/2015 18:03

I also have some hippy trousers given to me by my cousin. Who is a former dancer, rather tall, and able to pull off totally shambolic clothes with style because she is both poised and very beautiful. The best I look in them is rather sweet. Just the look I want, at 52. Quite.

also I trip over the bottoms when I go upstairs-

motherinferior · 06/08/2015 18:04

Stropps. I'm so sorry.

cremolafoam · 06/08/2015 18:52

Oh fuckety fuck QQ. Sounds like something I would do.
But you must still go!! I am personally giving dark looks at your Dh from here. Worth a last minute booking in Noma I'd say...

Sorry to hear about dd Stropps. I am not surprised you are so tired. I for one am not far behind you. My mouth is now permanently turned down in its natural 'resting position'. Sad I am that auld doll on the bus.

Stropperella · 06/08/2015 19:02

Eh, that'll be us on the front seat of the bus, Crem. Grin

motherinferior · 06/08/2015 20:17

Trusting QQ is now en route to the land of Hamlet now...

CointreauVersial · 06/08/2015 20:46

Grin Grin at "White Dee"!

I have a couple of pairs of Lidl harems which are a) not too MC Hammer, b) bordering on flattering, and c) only £4.99, which makes a) and b) slightly irrelevant.

Have just had a shiny new roof box fitted to the car in anticipation of our holiday. DD2 and I then took ourselves to the shops, and found we couldn't get into any of the three multistoreys. Shock

Stropperella · 06/08/2015 21:24

Roof boxes and multistorey car parks do not mix. I once suffered the humiliation of getting wedged in the entrance of the local Waitrose car park because I forgot about the roof box. Blush

I have some naff slimey harems from Next and I look like a Paisley hippo when I wear them. Grin

motherinferior · 06/08/2015 21:47

One of the things I love about being a Crepey is the freedom to admit to humiliation.Grin
Apparently the t'ai chi-ers are enjoying themselves.GrinGrin

motherinferior · 06/08/2015 21:50

God, just saw friend's DD on FB. Same age as DD2. She looks 14. DD2 looks like an undersized 10...

cremolafoam · 06/08/2015 22:27

Though she be an undersized 10, she be fierce MIGrin

I have a pair of these loose troosers too and they have a kind of triangular fold at the waist. I've been wafting about in them all summer, but I now suspect I've actually looked like a Bedouin tent.
Sad

bigTillyMint · 06/08/2015 22:47

Am ROFLing at White Dee, Paisley Hippos, Bedouin tents and the like. I haven't got any, but I have got some low crotch tracky bottoms like DSs. Vair comfySmile

We are up and off to DHs one horse home town shortly, for cups of tea with old neighbours and tours round places where he played tennis/footy/got the long jump trophy, etc. Oh joy.

QQShockShockShock I live in terror of doing that. Hope you get there OKFlowers

CointreauVersial · 06/08/2015 23:39

BTM - I didn't realise DH was a native Kiwi!

QQ - hope you made it away eventually. Quite clearly DH's fault, by the way. Grin I've only ever missed one flight in my life; rather embarrassingly it was a business flight where I simply didn't leave enough time to negotiate the jams around Heathrow. Even driving down the hard shoulder of the M4 Blush Shock couldn't save me.

Strops - fortunately I didn't get wedged in any multistoreys; I got DD2 to jump out of the car and check before I ventured in. It reminds me of the time a few years ago, as we were processing towards the Eurotunnel platforms - the car in front of us, with two bikes on the roof, ploughed straight under a height restriction bar. Pieces of very posh bike flew everywhere....

Blackduck · 07/08/2015 07:16

Hi all - three flights and over 24 hours since I've seen a bed - I'm home. First wash done - second awaits. How come all the clothes, even the unworn ones (told you BTM) smell different?
No harems here - too short and square - but do wear Indian tops a lot as they are cool and cover a multitude.... DSL is also very keen on his because he hates anything restrictive.

Fab fab holiday (despite horrendous flights home - avoid Egyptair Crepeys they are frankly awful) and saw the pyramids from the plane Grin
QQ I would frankly murder in your circs- although dos way round that one is to make sure I have all the details so I become responsible...... Our only holiday error to date was booking the wrong start night for a room in Kyoto - owner most helpful and sat us with his laptop to find somewhere else for one night.

WAF - sorry I too failed on the feedback and MI I am still reading yours.

I love the heat (doesn't always love me back) and as long as I get lots of drink down me I'm generally okay.

MI [enry] re house to self.

Dp has gone to collect hound from in laws. I intend to not do a lot today.

beachyhead · 07/08/2015 08:11

Welcome home BD. I too have harems, similar to dd2's. However, I seemed to get attached to a bench in Nantes and they now have a large hole in the bottom. Too much material, obviously!

I drove out of the gate with the back door of the car open last week. That didn't work either Smile

Hope QQ is having Danish pasties for breakfast. Copenhagen is definitely on my to do list.

Ddad is next Tuesday and Saturday, thanks for asking Rudy. He was supposed to have a pre op meeting yesterday but they cancelled it about an hour before, which flummoxed him. Apparently they decided they didn't need it. I'll probably stay down there with him next week as with one eye covered (his better eye, apparently!) he might be a bit disoriented.

hattymattie · 07/08/2015 09:33

Beachy - positive news - one operation less?

BD - welcome back - the holiday sounds fabulous.

Stropps - hope DD's appointment can be rescheduled and that you are feeling more rested this morning.

Had a lovely night out with remaining friends last night (those not on holiday). One had a student from Exeter staying with them, so the DD's came out for a chat as well. Our ladies' night was wide ranging age wise!

Am upset this morning as decided to splurge in the UK on rather expensive Fat Face shorts which I justified by saying they would last 10 years! I decided to clean the toilets wearing them yesterday and noticed two small bleach marks this morningSad. I really don't deserve nice clothes.

Stropperella · 07/08/2015 10:04

That's a real pain about the shorts, Hatty. I thought I was the only one that kind of thing happened to. Re: Dd's appointment - no, she has point blank refused to acknowledge the issues at all and will not countenance any discussion about it. Sadly we are all completely knackered this morning, as she disappeared off with some new friends last night at 10pm, saying she would be back by midnight, but didn't come back until 1.30am, having ignored all attempts to contact her. This has become the norm for her over the last couple of months, with the worst case the night she said she'd be in by 11.30 but didn't turn up until 4am. Seems sober, but is always arsey and never answers her phone or texts. AIBU to be enraged by this behaviour?

Welcome home BD! Great to hear that you had a lovely time. Shame about the journey back, though.

Hope your dad's op goes smoothly, Beachy.

MrsSchadenfreude · 07/08/2015 10:16

Glad we are all having/had fun on holidays. Weather here is beautiful and scorchio today, and DH is in bed nursing a hangover and ranting at me because I didn't pack ibuprofen, only paracetamol. Paracetamol is not as good, apparently. Hosts only have paracetamol too. Have told him to MTFU and have a paracetamol, am not driving to Harrogate to get ibuprofen. We are supposed to be going to Whitby today, not sure if that is going to happen now.

I imagine the atmosphere chez QQ is a bit like one you can cut with a knife? Grin My parents were always late for everything when I was a child, and I have memories of running through the airport with all of our luggage as it was too late to check it in, and we were told to hand it in at the gate.

Rosebag · 07/08/2015 10:33

Ach! bleach hatty how annoying. All my black leggings go that way eventually...

Sorry stropps I guess she will just have to come to it herself and I hope she will, in time. The staying out late is tough because it affects the whole family. Yanbu.

Hope your DDad will be ok, beachy. Will contact you when back in EP next Friday.

Welcome home BD Journey sounds nightmarish but holiday was a success by the sound of it.

Has DH ever taken you to his home town before Tilly ? I think it's lovely to be able to do that, even if it is Hicksville !

Packing for homeward journey now. We are all in coolest gear possible with warmer stuff for the other end. I am Hmm about Monaco. I love the pools, scenery and opulence. But it will take me a long time to get over some of the atrocious behaviour of many of the guests and their brats.

And the way that the staff let themselves be abused by moneyed trash who think privilege entities them to do wtf they like. Also gobsmacked by the amount of silicone and Botox enhanced body parts, and badly done trout pouts. And also the number of families who have brought their servants with them.....
But I should have expected that I guess. naive

See you on the other side Crepeys xx

hattymattie · 07/08/2015 11:05

Wow Rose - real eye opener - money doesn't buy your grace, charm or manners.

StroppsSad re DD - no you are not unreasonable to be enraged.

Mrs S - have you been to Castle Howard where they filmed Brideshead? Also Rievaulx Abbey which IMHO is better than Fountains.

May donate shorts to DD1 who is a student and consequently unperturbed by small bleach marks.
