Tilly it all sounds gorgeous. Happy belated birthday to dd. perhaps she's in a post birthday slumpSad your ds seems to have found his natural habitat! Presume a cavadoodle is a Cavalier spaniel mixed with a poodle! Dsis new neighbour has a double doodle, I'm not sure exactly what that is but he's cuddly gorgeous.Grin

motherinferior · 27/07/2015 08:44

Morning all. I am feeling a bit Glum. Partly because of the grey skies - though this does mean that having woken to the patter of rain I got my @rse into the pool AGAIN instead of the park, and am now back up to 60 lengths.

Life with the Inferiorettes is wearing me down rather. I had nightmares. Which I think were related.

Rosebag · 27/07/2015 09:22

Hello Crepeys…great new thread title. I am most definitely fierce to which my family will testify, and crepey QED by trying on swimsuits today Hmm.

Happy belated birthday to Tilly's DD…sorry she's being a bit of a Kevin…it's her job, y'see. Amazing photos btw!

There is a flurry of packing going on here, interspersed by DH and I having two (2, ii) consecutive nights out, eating, dancing and gigging which FaceBookers will have seen. I just wish it wasn't so feckin' freezing…long sleeves on today. Links arms with MI over being worn down already by the DC, not least of all by the heinous amount of Art holiday homework DD has to do, and her utter reluctance to Get Ahead with it…Angry

Thanks to whichever Crepeys recommended holiday reading in the last thread…I have gone for We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves this time…Thanks Auriga

Welcome back Beachy, great about Copenhagen, QQ and hope BD, Auriga and Tilly continue to enjoy their travels.

Right…more packing and shouting at the DC to get the FXXX out of bed…. Angry

ps you've given me an idea for easy supper given there is no food in the house MrsS …Klops it is…. Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 27/07/2015 09:34

I need to be in work. I am slumped on the bed with the cats, waiting for the dryer to finish, listening to radio 4. The DDs are still asleep. Have left instructions to tidy rooms. Hahahahaaha.

motherinferior · 27/07/2015 10:08

DD1 is in a tizz because all her bras are in the wash. DD2 is still in bed. I am going to give DD2 a Project - I blagged was sent a juicer for review which she put together and wants to try. So I have suggested she checks out juice recipes and then goes out to get some ingredients...

NUFC69 · 27/07/2015 10:59

Good idea with DD, MI. I am filled with envy at 60 lengths. I have just done 24 which took me half an hour; trouble is I have to do a sort of fish/mermaid thing with my legs because of knee replacement. I did stop on for an hour of Aquafit and am now knackered.

Still raining here and forecast to continue for days. We're out this afternoon meeting friends for afternoon tea - I guess we won't be sitting outside.

BTM, holiday sounds wonderful. Rose, I was an ace procrastinator, so I wouldn't be able to have a go at DD.

MollyAir · 27/07/2015 11:56

Me too re 60 lengths - tis an aspirational target for me.

Herbs, I just clicked on this Mumsnet Jobs ad:

jobs.mumsnet.com/job/210766/teacher-of-foundation-skills-in-english-and-maths-/?TrackID=16#sc=widget&me=referral&cm=16

Obvs unless you move in with a friend in the Midlands Wink you can't have that lovely sounding job, but might be worth registering with MN Jobs, in case they have relevant offers now and again?

herbaceous · 27/07/2015 12:03

OM effing G, Molly, that is a dream job! And in the Malverns! Amazing. Thanks for the MN jobs tip - I shall get on it, pronto.

Talking of employment (gainful), I've just emailed you some guff about caravans MI.

magimedi · 27/07/2015 12:04

60 lengths is most impressive. I thought I was good doing 40! Takes me about 30 mins. If I do more I get very bored & tempted not to swim.

Anyhow, now I have my B&Q diamond card (Grin) I reckon I'm not doing so badly!

motherinferior · 27/07/2015 13:43

I escaped for lunch with my cousin. Feel much saner nowGrin.

herbaceous · 27/07/2015 16:10

I should be looking for jobs, but instead seem to be getting tearful over this thread. About strangers people met, then never saw again. All very touching.

herbaceous · 27/07/2015 18:49

Hi. Me again. So, I've finally got feedback for my final assignment, and I passed! So I really am 'a teacher'! And the feedback was v good!

Such phrases as "very interesting assignment", "you have a good rationale clearly indicating that your action research was very useful and relevant for your learners", "your findings were very interesting", "your research was very thoroughly planned", "you gave a good critical analysis of both your research methods and your findings".

And "this is work that could be carried on further and also disseminated more widely", which is surely high praise for a research project!

Go me.

motherinferior · 27/07/2015 18:57

GO (forth and teach) HERBS!!!!

NUFC69 · 27/07/2015 19:11

Hooray, well done, Herbs. A Fierce Crepey Teacher, indeed.

I have the heating on again. All the bird baths are full to overflowing, there is water in the borders - welcome to July in Northumberland.

lalsy · 27/07/2015 20:21

Herbs, that is fantastic!

MI, summer hols are hard. God knows why we have them. My dd is/was quite averse to leaving her room - she has lined up loads of summer jobs this year, I think because she knows she goes a bit low otherwise (and the obvious ££). She did need more help than some (when it was available, which it wasn't always) when she was younger to get herself sorted, but learned loads from the process, and is much more gung-ho now. She did a lof of camp-type stuff (cadets, National Trust) which worked really well for her - no bedrooms Grin.

cremolafoam · 27/07/2015 21:37

Ach Herbs you aced it! Bloody well done you...TEACHER you!!!!Grin

NU, I'm laughing at myself, having shelled out for new bifold doors only to be able to look at a monsoon. Hahaha. I am wearing wooly socks and a fleece dressing gown.

bigTillyMint · 27/07/2015 21:41

Herbs, just do wife swap with BD - simples. And I bet your other halves wouldn't notice the difference Grin

Up for a trip up Mt Cook this morning. With Kevin and Perry Grin

Blackduck · 28/07/2015 05:07

jambo crepeys! I am back on grid after three days in the bush. Pics on FB for those interested! First day we were knackered after overnight flights but the small plane from Dar to the park was a buzz! Then full day safari where we saw a leopard and lions - so very very lucky as they are not two a penny in the park! Bucket loads of impala, zebra, giraffes, hippos.... Absolutely amazing. Then a bush walk and river cruise and flight back to Zanzibar. Stone town for a night and a day- ds had melt down...,
Now on beach where ds has looked in horror at my bikini and I have looked in horror at my body compared the slim young things around me.

Not missing the rain :).

I have 'we are completely beside ourselves' in my book pile so to to hear that it is a good read.
Hope everyone is well and surviving. Belated happy birthday BTMs DD!

bigTillyMint · 28/07/2015 05:58

BD it sounds like you are having a fab time - will search out the pics on FB!

Here we walked to the Hooker glacier on Mt Cook, which wasn't really what I expected but lots of wobbly bridges and photo opps for DS and DD and I had a long and interesting chatWink

Just arrived in Queenstown - fab apartment over the estuarySmile And strong Internet connection Smile

Blackduck · 28/07/2015 06:41

BTM yours sounds equally fab!
Hope the DD chat was productive....
Here ds has found a little boy (or I think the little boy may have found him - they do seen to gravitate towards him) so we are having a quiet day whilst ds plays nanny Grin

I am loving the fact that at night it is truly pitch black here - so nice!

MrsSchadenfreude · 28/07/2015 07:16

Am pleased to report that Sir Tom was in fine form, belting out all the old favourites. The audience were largely ancient, and telling the younger ones to sit down, not to dance and to be quiet - could they really not hear above a bit of whispering? The three people next to me resolutely sat down for the whole thing, tutting throughout. Grin

But sad to report that the Shitten appears to have started resorting to her old tricks again, after months of being clean. Sad

bigTillyMint · 28/07/2015 07:23

Did you throw your control pants at him MrsS?Wink

cremolafoam · 28/07/2015 07:32

Perfect timing Mrs s. Just before your hols. Leave the cat-sitter to it.Grin
BD I am envious as hellEnvyEnvyEnvy. I've always wanted to see animals in the wild. Hope you enjoy Zanzibar. My dsis lived in Tanz for a year out in the wilds and had Christmas on the beach in Zanzibar. She phoned us on a satellite phone.
BTM your trip also sounds epic.

Here, more rain, cold and am facing a 1:1 with HR tomorrow.
Will be asking for help in formulating my thoughts later.Confused

Blackduck · 28/07/2015 07:51

Cremo it was amazing - as dp said 'one of the best days of my life'
:( re 1:1 - will help if can.....

beachyhead · 28/07/2015 08:06

Your trip sounds amazing BD. I'd love to do a safari but I've always been worried about dd2 being too young. Did you have age restrictions on yours?
