Guest at wedding in Italy, it's going to be a scorcher!

Please help! Size 14 hourglass figure (huge norks 30hh smallish waist, large of hips and arse), height 5.2.

Want something cotton for the heat, not too restricting, something that nips in at the waist, not too 'booby', must be at least to the knee. I love blues and large print.

Budget about 100 quid.

The weather will be scorchio, up to 40 degrees I've been told.

Can any of you lovely people help me? Nearly killed myself shopping the other day and found nothing!

Liking the silk prom dress. Trying to ignore that it looks too short.

I see it's an outlet. Does that mean I can't go and try on in store?

Probably not wedding suitable but can I throw in this company for boob friendly stuff? Cheaper than pepperberry and fits lovely

playingup · 12/06/2015 12:24

Oh yes. Yes yes yes! Thanks for the link. Some lovely everyday stuff. A few tops I've got my eye on already. Can never find tops, and I have a few skirts that go unused in my wardrobe as I have no tops. So thanks for that Flowers

Last one... I now give up!

playingup · 12/06/2015 15:13

Nooo notthe! Don't give up on me I don't blame you

That dress would be perfect - if it wasn't so floaty around the middle.

Oh god, I've lost you now haven't I?

Given that it's not an Italian wedding but more a wedding in Italy then I'd wear what you'd wear to a wedding here but for really warm weather. I was at an Italian wedding in the south of Italy and it was a scorcher. At 11pm I still didn't need my short cardi. I was in a strappy dress, knee length, and heels from Hobbs. I think I looked ok. Grin Plenty of lovely suggestions already - enjoy!!

Blue2014 · 12/06/2015 15:39

My only tip, buy a pretty handheld fan, I can't help with the dress but the fan will be vital! (eBay should do them)

HalleLouja · 12/06/2015 15:43

Try Allium B they have some lovely thin cotton dresses.

playingup · 12/06/2015 17:26

I'm worried that the unicorn one is going to be a bit too 'out there' and not classy enough. Although I'm seriously considering getting it for myself anyway.

I think I'm a lost cause

Love all 3 cardigans you linked

SuperFlyHigh · 12/06/2015 17:47

I think the dress is perfect a real talking point! Maybe ask friends what they'd wear, bride's style would it fit in? I think there's nothing better personally than seeing a guest in their own style a friend of my mums at SILs wedding wore a fab red cheongsam or jacket and looked great.

The cardigans and the dress to be honest you could easily wear again too. Smile

playingup · 12/06/2015 19:37

I'll run it by a few close friends and fellow guests and see what they think. Their style is different to mine though, they go for the plain classic style so not sure they'll be keen...

OP posts:
coffeenut · 12/06/2015 23:30

plain but classy and could be dressed up here

Bright blue or navy? here

playingup · 12/06/2015 23:46

Really like that one with the white embellishments...

I'd like to thank whoever linked to ModCloth. I find I have placed an order for two dresses - Blush. Fingers crossed they look as nice on as they did on the webpage.

blue summery one

dark blue with butterflies

playingup · 13/06/2015 09:04

Mod cloth has been a revelation! Those 2 dresses are really pretty. Next pay day I'll be spending!

I still haven't found what I'm looking for...

Hope nobody's linked these before!

This blue silk dress from John Lewis ticks some of your boxes but is probably not the right shape for you. Pity! It's a lovely fabric.

Another blue silk dress from John Lewis. This one is probably a better choice for your figure - lovely colour. It looks an awful lot better on the model than in the first pic.

blue cotton prom dress

Gorgeous print cotton dress If I hadn't just splashed out on those other two dresses....

MairzyDoats · 13/06/2015 09:42

I think coffeenut's JL one with the lace applique is perfect, classy and would suit your shape, you definitely need to try that one!!
