Please help! Size 14 hourglass figure (huge norks 30hh smallish waist, large of hips and arse), height 5.2.

Want something cotton for the heat, not too restricting, something that nips in at the waist, not too 'booby', must be at least to the knee. I love blues and large print.

Budget about 100 quid.

The weather will be scorchio, up to 40 degrees I've been told.

Can any of you lovely people help me? Nearly killed myself shopping the other day and found nothing!

5 pm will be sweltering, but you will need something to put over your shoulders in the evening. Also, if you are staying several nights, you'll probably want trousers in the evenings mostly, to keep out the dreaded mosquitoes.

playingup · 11/06/2015 15:08

oh crap. I don't own trousers. Not one pair. I can't get them to like my shape...Confused

If anyone has any trouser suggestions I'd be grateful. It's hard because I need to get size 16 to go over my hips but then it's too loose around my waist. I don't like wearing belts as it bulks me up too much

I too struggle with trousers. Therefore, buy a good anti mosi spray. Spray liberally all over (especially your legs) early evening and you'll be fine.

playingup · 11/06/2015 16:10

Hmm yes, I'm a victim to those critters. Apparently the Avon moisturiser is brilliant to repelling them.

That mod cloth has an amazing app. You put your exact measurements in and it tells you what clothes will fit!!

OP that Van Gogh dress will be back in stock at some stage - I think its one of their regulars. Sign up for a back in stock alert. Maybe not in time for the wedding but who cares? I'm a bit tempted by it myself!

trixymalixy · 11/06/2015 17:53

this is gorgeous

TealFanClub · 11/06/2015 18:02

STEP AWAY FROM MODCLOTH

caramelgirl · 11/06/2015 18:07

I don't know if it was v untypical but I bought silk dress for me, linen suit for DH, light cotton for the kids and we were shivering.
And stayed on in Umbria for a week and it was chilly (and on off rainy) for a few days. Not what I had expected at all.
So maybe dress light but take a big cardi or shawl?

Annarose2014 · 11/06/2015 18:41

MODCLOTH DO CARDIGANS!

trixymalixy · 11/06/2015 19:15

chi chi have some lovely dresses

saltnpepa · 11/06/2015 19:35

Can I just say that no self respecting Italian woman would wear a print maxi with open toe sandals, and certainly not to a wedding. Wear no patterns, silk, knee length with heels.

saltnpepa · 11/06/2015 19:43

Think like this www.reiss.com/p/asymmetricshoulder-dress-womens-lira-in-night-navy/?category_id=1121

with classic heels, pointy toe and a smart crop jacket.

playingup · 11/06/2015 20:23

Oh what really? Good job I'm not Italian then! Seriously though, is it a huge faux par to wear print and open toed sandals? If so, I'm buggered.

Pointy shoes look awful on me.

I love that reiss dress. Very Classy. But a bit angular for my rounded body!!

Will have a proper look at that chi chi it looks really nice actually. Thank you.

And of course I'll be checking out mod cloth for cardigans!!

TealFanClub · 11/06/2015 20:40

LOVE that Reiss one

playingup · 11/06/2015 20:58

I'm recommending that reiss one to my friend. It's exactly what she's looking for.

Italian women at weddings generally wear salmon coloured skirt suits with short sleeved jackets. They look dreadful. I agree that the Italian weather can be a lot more unpredictable than you think - it was bloody freezing last summer and we were barely able to move in the heat the year before Confused.

playingup · 11/06/2015 21:15

How about this?

That website is fantastic, love it.

CloserToFiftyThanTwenty · 11/06/2015 21:35

I like that, playing

saltnpepa · 11/06/2015 21:52

British women wear prints and strappy sandals with nice little cardies and hats to weddings and look like little girls imo. Italian women dress beautifully for weddings, chic and classic.

TealFanClub · 11/06/2015 21:56

yes agree - dont like those prom style dresses

playingup · 11/06/2015 21:56

Salt, can you link anything else, not as expensive as reiss, that you think might suit me? I would love to look chic and classic. I've never looked chic and classic in my life!
