Please help! Size 14 hourglass figure (huge norks 30hh smallish waist, large of hips and arse), height 5.2.

Want something cotton for the heat, not too restricting, something that nips in at the waist, not too 'booby', must be at least to the knee. I love blues and large print.

Budget about 100 quid.

The weather will be scorchio, up to 40 degrees I've been told.

Can any of you lovely people help me? Nearly killed myself shopping the other day and found nothing!

It's an evening ceremony...

Pants, thanks but not keen on pattern.

That unicorn one though. Oh my. It's beautiful. I might have to get it even if not for the wedding! How long for delivery though? I hate buying without trying on, I'm always disappointed

You'd need to try it to see if it looked like a sack or beautifully simple

CloserToFiftyThanTwenty · 11/06/2015 13:27

Structured waist

CloserToFiftyThanTwenty · 11/06/2015 13:28

Long but shows off your legs too

NomiMalone · 11/06/2015 13:31

Do not wear a maxi! I'm a similar height and would look awful in one.

Also they're very brits abroad. I've never seen an Italian or Spanish wedding guest wearing a maxi dress.

I love the Modcloth dresses. Will look for similar for you.

I've just Googled (in Italian) "Dress for Summer wedding evening" and this is what came up on the first page. We're not far off what they expect. Less prints, more blocks of colour, perhaps. And hats at weddings ARE very Brits abroad, I thinkNomi. My lovely MIL was the only Italian in one at mine, anyway...

Thanks all

The pencil dress in pretty dress company is beautiful but I think it might be too restricted in the heat? Also I love the red roses dress but I have one similar so that puts me off a little. But both gorgeous, will look on the website for more. Thanks.

So far I'm still loving the unicorn one. It's so unusual and beautiful. And the shape is perfect.

This.

playingup · 11/06/2015 14:15

Really pretty, jump. But it's something I'd wear everyday Blush

These dresses claim to use coolfresh fabric. I've no idea if is successful or if its nonsense but it might be worth a look.

The problem with cotton is that is absorbant and doesn't dry off easily. That's why exercise gear isn't made of cotton anymore.

you need shoes you can wear all day as Italian weddings go on a long time and stretchy waists as they are about 7 courses.

Try fenn wright manson for lovely dresses, I'm wearing one I got last year for an Italian wedding this year.

Pantsalive · 11/06/2015 14:20

Any of these, if you're enjoying the picture dresses?

playingup · 11/06/2015 14:31

ModCloth has some absolutely STUNNING dresses

We went to a wedding in Tuscany mid July last year.
It was beautiful but shockingly cold in the evening. And actually a bit chilly in the wind during the day despite the sun.
We were wrapped up in blankets and I wished we had thought of layers and scarves.

Annarose2014 · 11/06/2015 14:37

Yeah and people post their own photos with the reviews, which is so helpful.

playingup · 11/06/2015 14:42

I mean, look at this

Its absolutely stunning. Unfortunately out of stock. I WANT IT!!!!

I haven't been this excited about a clothes website...ever. A shame its not in the UK though.

Sorry and thanks to the other suggestions - nothing else hAs stood out for me so far

I love that you can see people's photos and reviews. What an amazing website. Seen so many dresses I love. The only thing that puts me off is that I can't try on before buying. I can only afford to buy one at a time - so I would have to order it, wait for it, try on...and then send back, order my next one...wait...try on etc etc

OP posts:
playingup · 11/06/2015 14:48

Caramel - hmm, the ceremony starts at 5. I didn't think about it being possibly chilly! Am I thinking about this in the wrong way then??? I suppose I can get a little cardi / scarf??

I've got a few Boden maxi dresses and they are really comfortable. I wear them on holiday when it over 35 degrees. Although they are a lightweight Jersey fabric some of the patterns are suitable for a wedding.
You could then get a wrap or cardi to match.
