Any recs? Tan, black or grey and as comfortable as humanly possible without looking like my gran would wear them. Absolutely no to Fitflops, Ecco, or anything that looks as if Millets might sell it. Not totally flat, and ideally with some nice squidginess in them. Not flip flops and no toe post. Must have straps and not just be slider things or mules.

No more than £60 and would prefer less, as they'll get wrecked quite quickly.

I may well be asking the impossible.

Pub shoe?

But would you wear trainers/Go Walk with a skirt, Elizabeth? Say a denim mini, or a tube skirt, which are my usual summer choices?

MrsGuyGarvey · 19/04/2015 20:38

I'm after something similar and am considering www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Shoes-Boots/Sandals/AR663/Womens-Colourblock-Sandal.html?NavGroupID=11 these.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/04/2015 20:39

I have never had talking shoes before.

Everything - not sure re the Clarks. Would have to see in the flesh. Thanks for the heads up re wearing ugly shoes with skirts though. I will try them on.

This is how I think you look :)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/04/2015 20:47

I wish! Imagine shorter, a bit rounder, older and with much less hair!

I wear keen sandals with skirts/dresses. New balance/puma/adidas trainers would probably look fine as well.

Take a pair of nice shoes/sandals for the evenings Wink

NeitherHereOrThere · 19/04/2015 20:59

link to keen sandals

ElizabethHoover · 19/04/2015 20:59

even a short trip to London reminds you of the HOARDES of tourists and no one bats an eye at trainers

NeitherHereOrThere · 19/04/2015 21:02

I have a pair of merrell walking shoes - here is a link

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/04/2015 21:04

Sorry but no to the Keen and the Merrell ones.

FrugalFashionista · 19/04/2015 21:15

My favorite sight-seeing pair, packs totally flat, rubber crepe sole for ultimate comfort, and can also be worn laced up like this.

CharlesRyder · 19/04/2015 21:19

DM Gryphons?

CharlesRyder · 19/04/2015 21:22

Rocketdog?

NeitherHereOrThere · 19/04/2015 22:10

Didnt think you would like the keens/merrells but mine have done a few years of traipsing around foreign cities as well as trails/beaches.

Good luck in finding something you like from a style point of view and that won't cripple you either Wink

chicaguapa · 19/04/2015 22:12

I wear my Skechers with cotton skirts and cropped trousers. I don't really like them with jeans tbh.

Mine are a size smaller than my usual size as they do stretch a bit. DD and I are the same shoe size and she wanted hers in her actual size but I find them too loose for me.

HolgerDanske · 19/04/2015 22:21

The sketchers go walks are verrrry comfortable. Definitely worth a try-on, at least. I know they're not the best looking shoe but for happy feet you won't find anything better. And if you style carefully they can look pretty good with the average spring/summer outfit.

We sell loads and loads of them and once you've bought a pair you're highly likely to come back for another, and another.

They're also washable.

jalopy · 19/04/2015 22:28

Will these do the trick?

ElizabethHoover · 19/04/2015 22:29

where do you work holg

RaisingSteam · 19/04/2015 22:32

I think the only way to get comfortable sandals is to go a) old-lady b) sporty or c) trendy-fugly

What style would you go for if it was magically as comfortable as you needed it to be?

I think don't discount Teva too quickly they aren't all gap year student ones.

Anything from Teva Cabrillo range OK?
Wedge

well if you google Teva Cabrillo 2 or 3 variants come up including flat and wedge.

Or (links failing me) Teva Capri universal ?

lurkingaround · 19/04/2015 23:31

Sorry Remus but I'm with the 'wear trainers' group, so I've no suggestions apart from wear your well broken-in trainers. There ain't no fashionable answer to schlepping miles around a city fashionably shod. I think trainers look fine with mini skirts and shorts anyway.

Galrick · 20/04/2015 00:13

Remus, I've always been a walker of many miles and a fussy shoe picker Grin While mentally running through my footwear successes and failures, I remembered a few pairs of high heeled, platform soled sandals I owned which had BOUNCY RUBBER SOLES & HEELS and were styled with just the right softness, strength & security of leather straps.

I've been hunting for ages since you posted and had just about given up - although nearly bought about £800 worth of trainers I can't afford - when I followed RaisingSteam's link to Teva.

You could wear these, I think. Not super-glam in the photo, but no comfortable shoes are and these will look quite elegant on the ends of your legs. They have bouncy rubber soles, the right soft/strong straps, padded insoles, and all the reviews rave about their comfort for walking!

If you don't like these either, I reckon it's time to give in to the fact that shoes for walking usually look like walking shoes and buy Skechers Grin
