Tigerbear's FREE clothes and cosmetics thread

tigerbear · 12/09/2014 02:24

I've done this once before with cosmetics only, but interested to see if it'll work for clothes too.

I've just had a massive clear out of clothes, cosmetics, beauty stuff etc and am wondering if any of you lovely MNers would like some stuff for free?

There's too much to list individually, but for instance, there's a Monsoon black tuxedo jacket, Lipsticks that have never been used, a pair of cream wedge sandals, etc

What I suggest is that if you're after something specific, is to post outlining it eg 'I have a job interview next week and would love a new smart jacket' or 'I'd like to experiment and try a new lipstick colour', or whatever, and if I have something similar I'll post. One item per person please. Once we've agreed on who will get what, lets PM and I'll post the item to you.

:-)

Wow, LordNoobson, what delightful comments! Just what I wanted to wake up to.

I'm not quite sure why I feel the need to justify myself to you, but here goes;

  • In answer to why I have clothes in so many sizes, I've been everything from an 8 to a 12, and bought tops in bigger sizes when I was pregnant from non maternity ranges
  • As to your reference to donating to charity, refuges etc, I already have - took two massive bags of stuff earlier this week, have given stuff to friends and family, and taken stuff to a clothing exchange store too. That ok for you? Is that within the boundaries of what you deem acceptable?

As for your comment about 'nicking stuff', that's just plain bitchy. As you're the one mentioning personal attacks (and sighing with it), I'll take yours as such.

Have a nice day, what with your lovely view on life! :)

If you have any lipstick in a light brown or pale red I would really appreciate it trying to not look washed out whilst pregnant :) I will have a load of maternity clothes once baby make so an appearance some time in December

Pickering · 13/09/2014 08:48

Tigerbear, thank you for finding a necklace for me. So kind of you.

I'll pass on the offer to someone else though. I don't wear gold-toned jewellery and don't think I'd wear if as much as it deserves. I hope someone else might really enjoy and wear it.

Thank you for your kindness though. Smile

Hi Tiger, what a cool idea :) I'd love anything in an 18, especially tops that are suitable for work and longer length!! Wow, i'm being demanding, sorry!! Could we start a more general wants/swaps thread too? I know i have loads of stuff to get shot of, and ebay is such a faff... Grin

Gumnast2014 · 13/09/2014 09:10

I want to do this too but not sure anyone would want my primark shite!!!

KillashandraRee · 13/09/2014 09:51

Tigerbear ignore ignore ignore some people are just out to derail any nice thread these days no matter how nice.

I gave a friend some maternity clothes yesterday and will have a reshuffle if my wardrobe once I've lost the baby weight so will follow your example with any nice things I have that no longer fit. I think it's a lovely idea made my day yesterday Smile

RelationsAkin · 13/09/2014 11:24

Tigerbear this is so nice of you - please ignore the cynics.

If you have anything left for me I'd love a statement necklace as I just don't have the confidence or cash to choose one myself and have two important to me interviews coming up soon and/or a cardigan (size 12/14) would be lovely.

Madaboutthrows · 13/09/2014 11:33

I am trying to be more daring in small steps so if you have a red nail polish that would be nice. I will try and pay it forward too. Thanks and I think what you are doing is lovely

goldface · 13/09/2014 11:40

How kind and thoughtful of you! I am a size 8-10 and would love a blazer that you can wear with jeans at the weekend? Also am trying to wear more dresses! As someone said earlier I would happily add to a charity collection x

MTWTFSS · 13/09/2014 14:15

tigerbear Sorry I didn't get back to this thread sooner. I love the dress Grin

PlacidApricots · 13/09/2014 14:19

I would also happily add to a charity collection too, and wonder if you maybe have any cardigans around a 14-16? Please :)

You are doing a lovely thing, ignore the idiots trying to ruin the thread.

MTWTFSS · 13/09/2014 14:24

tigerbear - I would love to send you something in return :) How about a DVD/DVD TV boxset?

Purpleflamingos · 13/09/2014 14:36

Tiger bear - what a lovely gesture. Having just spent a whe week packing up bags for a charity and giving good baby clothes/toys away to family and friends I'm in awe that you can be organised enough to do this.

weebarra · 13/09/2014 14:46

Tigerbear - how lovely of you.
I should do the same - I have recently had a double mastectomy and none of my lovely lowish cut tops are wearable now. If you have any high necked / crew necked tops in a size 14, I'd certainly appreciate one!

Whereisegg · 13/09/2014 14:52

Hi tigerbear, this is a lovely offer and I wonder if you can help me...
I am a size 8 and work outside so could desperately use a thin waterproof jacket with a hood?
Dm treated me to a really thick one for winter but it's too hot for autumn/spring.
Anything a little bit trendy/classic would be amazing as I see customers all day SmileThanks

drbartlet · 13/09/2014 15:04

Very generous of you tiger
Have you got any low heal or flat boots? My everyday slouch boots have a split in the sole and I'm skint so in trainers for the foreseeable. I'm not fussy but something that goes with jeans would be preferable.

Mereguemeringue · 13/09/2014 19:23

Hi Tigerbear, any statement jewellery in silver or black would be amazing. Or anything size 14, navy or black and edgy!! :) xx. What can we give you?

BabyGoose · 13/09/2014 20:40

I completely understand why you are doing this. I've just had a clear out and given away a cot, bouncer, car seat and pram. Knowing they went to someone who wanted or needed them gave me a warm fuzzy feeling. I wish I could describe it better!

TheImprobableGirl · 13/09/2014 20:59

I'm happy to give! Got a heap of maternity clothes that are headed binwards, size 14. Will have to wait until weds to send though, as am cash strapped till then :)

Baby's asleep so can't take pics but have jeans in burgundy, blue and black. Various tops, fitted and ruched (sp?) and some floater ones. Various colours.... Erm and a couple of dresses? I definitely remember a black number that's a teeny bit sparkly that is just above knee length and pretty fab :) let me know!

Also have various baby clothes but they are summery as my little girl is only 4mo Grin

If anyone happens to have any baby clothes in 6-9mo for my ginormous hungry caterpillar chubby girl or 3-4yo old for my other girl would be appreciated :)

Or failing that I am now a size 12 and desperately trying to accrue any clothes that will fit! Aged 26 and fairly big of nork :p

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 13/09/2014 21:26

Tigerbear, this is incredibly kind of you!

Any chance you'd have any smart-casual circle/A-line midi skirts in a size 12? I'm on mat leave and jeans look horrible over my podgy lower tum, and I'm a skirt-wearer anyway. I'm 5'2" with enormous bf boobs right now, and a stone over my pre-pg weight so nothing really fits and my budget for new stuff is non-existent. I have light brown hair and green eyes. Don't know what season that makes me!

Also, if you have any interesting nail varnish - all mine is free samples from magazines in either pale pink or dark red. I saw someone the other day with gold tips which looked amazing.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 13/09/2014 21:30

I would pass on some of my stuff but I can't think of anything that's not ancient/tatty or part of my work wardrobe when if I lose the pg weight. I just took a bag of stuff to the Tesco recycling bank today - some rags, and the one skiing jacket that was actually in decent nick but is never going to fit over my boobs again.

Tigerbear · 13/09/2014 22:53

Hi all, sorry I disappeared - it's been a full on day with DD, I've got a horrid cold and am shattered.

Thanks to all those who've made nice comments and who understand the aim of the thread. The negative ones put a bit of a dampener on my mood this morning, if I'm honest!

To those who have confirmed they like 'their' items, I'm really pleased, and everything will be sent in Monday.

I haven't had a chance to go through any more stuff today, but will try tomorrow, and will try to reply to everyone individually.

OP posts:
Tigerbear · 13/09/2014 22:55

Also, forgot to say, sorry but I don't have anything else in sizes larger than approx 12-14. The majority of stuff left is 8/10/12.

rockybalboa · 13/09/2014 23:29

Hi Tiger. Do you have any grey tops in 12-14 please? Thanks
