Bag recommendations with approx £900 to spend

I know this has been done before and posters have got flamed but I'd really like some suggestions.

I'll go over the budget if its something I really like, but not wildly so.

I probably looking for more of a tote style rather than clutch.
Thanks.

I like the Amanda Classic.

I second bottega veneta! ATM I'm also lusting after Roland Mouret's bagatelle bag (sorry I have no idea how to do links on phone)

Marymaymay · 23/08/2014 07:49

£850 to charity and £50 on a nice bag? This world is absurd.

MyGastIsFlabbered · 23/08/2014 08:21

Do you people recommending bags accept that £900 is a lot to spend on a handbag? I've started a thread on site stuff about the possibility of a high value spend section & it's been argued that some wouldn't see £900 as a lot. I'm curious as to what you think?

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 23/08/2014 08:27

It's relative to earnings, so will be for some, not for others. However, when looking at national average incomes, these are a high value discretionary spend ie yes, £900 is a lot to spend on a bag. However, I think posters should ignore comments re how people should spend their money - it's not relevant.

Re a separate section - wouldn't get much traffic, I think.

I like Smythson bags and Lady Dior bags, although the Jackie Gucci also appeals. I have an Anya Hindmarch Gracie, and second MrsCB's comments re size and quality.

FFS, look if the thread does not interest you, you don't have to click on it.

I'm sure they are very well aware that £900 is a lot of money relatively speaking, although in the great scheme of things it's only a medium priced handbag in designer terms. Like cars, like houses, like joints of meat, like jewellery or anything else, you can choose cheap and cheerful or you can go for the best, according to your budget.

As long as people are spending their own actual disposable income, not getting into stupid amounts of debt and are not prioritising handbags over food or clothing for their children I really don't see why you think it's ok to come onto threads like this and get all sanctimonious.

There are plenty of threads where people discuss getting value for money on a tight budget. If you feel more comfortable over there then off you trot.

MyGastIsFlabbered · 23/08/2014 08:38

I'm not aware that I'm being sanctimonious, I merely asked a question. I've never said people can't spend their money on whatever they want. Go & buy a dozen £1000 handbags if you want to.

Stickemakissonafish, tetchy?

No one has to justify their spending. The op asked for ideas for a bag and said she could go up to x amount.

It's no ones business why she wants to spend that amount.

Op, ignore people saying buy a cheap bag, it's your money and spend it as you see fit.

FacebookWillEatItself · 23/08/2014 08:44

That is a seriously childish and spiteful thing to say StickEm.

Can you imagine what would happen if someone on this thread had responded to negative comments with 'ooh look at at all the little poor people getting tetchy just because we can buy nice things.'

And no, there really isn't a difference.

Sort of on topic but loads of the more affordable designers have become horrid. Couldn't see anything in mulberry, Westwood, moschino I liked.

Nerf · 23/08/2014 08:57

Or lulu guiness .

BlueberriesAndWine · 23/08/2014 08:58

MyGast I do see it as a lot of money to spend on a bag, hence my thread asking for recommendations instead of just buying something for the sake of it.

However, relative to earnings it is not a massive amount.

I'm not going to justify myself on this thread, people spend their money in ways I disagree with but it is none of my business.

OMG ,this is really getting ridiculous , mygast £900 is not a lot of money on a well made bag, some bags go up to £5k ,I think the minimum price now days for good quality bags starts at £500 upwards,

I really like celine blade bag,
