I know this has been done before and posters have got flamed but I'd really like some suggestions.

I'll go over the budget if its something I really like, but not wildly so.

I probably looking for more of a tote style rather than clutch.
Thanks.

Marsha - I was put off Isabel Marant a bit when I read via a link on here that her company rates very badly on ethical practice, including fair pay for employees.

I'll try to find the thread, it was v interesting discussion on ethics of high end and high st brands, and how there isn't always as much difference in working conditions as you might expect. I think Louis Vuitton and associated brands came off poorly too. It was around the time of the Rana Plaza disaster and there was a lot of talk about ethical shopping on here.

Ah that's a shame, she always looks so happy floating past on pin and I love the designs.

As an aside I got the impression from somewhere that it was had to make a profit with these big labels, costs so much to keep it going. But a shame if hers is not very ethical.

ThisBitchIsResting I remember that thread and I'd be interested in seeing it again if you do find it.

I have no problem with beautiful things costing a lot of money if it means the people who make them have been well rewarded. However the cost of designer clothes - particularly bags - has gone through the roof lately e.g. a Chanel quilted bag going up 70% in five years. (As bag lovers, I'm sure you already know this!) I fear this has little to do with designers discovering their consciences and is more about inflating prices to attract the super-rich. Burberry openly admitted as much last year: fashion.telegraph.co.uk/news-features/TMG10240203/The-Handbag-Bubble.html

If these designers are not even paying their workers properly then shame on them.
