As in, now you've posted you'll probably get some followers.

noddyholder · 19/08/2014 17:01

sansucre I have those sandals love them

A57 · 19/08/2014 17:03

@MarshaBrady I'm scared to say! I'm just a mum of two who gets ready for a casual day at work and then home again, doing a school run either side of the day. It's called a fashion blog but I want to change it to 'she got dressed today'

blog.avenue57.com

CoconutAmericano · 19/08/2014 17:06

Are they saltwater sandals?

sansucre · 19/08/2014 17:08

MrsCambellBlack Thank you, I always look so much better without my head!

Oh, I forgot to declare where my clothes are from but hey, I did pay for it all!

Don't be! It looks good, I really like that Asos peacoat and navy dresses. Am going to look some more.

Are all bloggers friends with Susie So So Grin. She does seem very friendly btw.

A57 · 19/08/2014 17:11

@HelpTheSnailsAreComingToGetMe - I would never criticise anyone! If someone asked for my opinion then I might say!

@MarshaBrady - she is absolutely lovely. Very down to earth and very very very funny! Have met up with her (and some others) a few times and each time they are just normal women.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/08/2014 17:14

Some nice outfits featured here. I especially like the white midi skirt.

No picture here - I'm wearing black skinnies and a silk boho top which I know makes my norks look enormous. I'm comfortable and about fit to be seen in public though, so it's fine.

I honestly don't think people are being bitchy overall. Everybody likes different things and the only thing people have 'bitched' about (ie griped about) is bloggers who a) photoshop their lives and b) don't admit they are getting shedloads of freebies.

I also used to like 'A little bird told me,' but I think she's now just doing the 'our life is so perfect thing.' I don't always like the things she wears, but I did like the fact that she experimented and tried things out even if they were not her usual thing.

MarshaBrady · 19/08/2014 17:15

I'm sure you're all normal. I wouldn't expect otherwise really.

I do think it's a commitment to blog, especially if you do fitting room shots rather than just ordering stuff.

sansucre · 19/08/2014 17:15

I dithered over buying the Saltwater ones as I couldn't figure out which colour or size and ended up missing out fullstop! These are from Topshop and various baby pictures of me have revealed I had exactly the same ones when I was younger!

What I like most about the threads about fashion blogs/bloggers is the criticism as I find it constructive and informative. A lot of the blogs out there aren't for me and it's made me see that there are still a few gaps to fill. I guess by reading the comments here, both positive and negative it will help to hopefully fill a void. Well, for me if nothing else!

Kablooger · 19/08/2014 17:15

gah bloggers - only in it for the fawning then?

its the innate vanity that makes people do a flippen blog of basically, themselves 'look at me'! surely?

A57 · 19/08/2014 17:19

@Kablooger I can only speak for myself. You are so far from the truth it's funny!

CoconutAmericano · 19/08/2014 17:21

I really like those sansucre Smile

Kablogger I don't think it's about innate vanity, although yes, we do all like the approval of others.

I'm not sure what it's about actually but I take my hat off to those who do blog about their clothes/lifestyle regardless of whether I like what they're doing or not. And in most cases, I'm looking at the bloggers clothes/accessories and not the bloggers themselves.

For the record, I know I often post pics of my outfits on Instagram if I've found a great item (ooh, I resisted using the word piece!) because I know my friends will like it/want to buy one too. I've given clothing advice for 5 different friends in the past 2 days and as an ex-personal shopper, I like to think I've got a good eye for stuff. But would I do a clothing blog. I'm not sure.

Yes. Not many realise that who wear midi skirts though. snurk

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/08/2014 17:51

What you snurking at, Ka? I like midi skirts - and mini skirts!

A57 · 19/08/2014 17:53

@HelpTheSnailsAreComingToGetMe - I think there are WAYS to say things and then there is just rude! It's a long conversation to be had and I don't want to be a bore but I set up Avenue 57 (not the blog but the outfit sharing website) to give women the confidence to find their style. NOT necessary to be stylish but to make them feel good/confident and happy. There are many times where a women posts and asks for feedback so I give it in a nice way. There are some times women post and I think it's not to MY taste but it's equally not up to me to say that I don't like it. I can often give my opinion which is 'nice top and would be good with x,y,z' or 'those trousers would look great with a heel instead of flats'. Some may say it's 'fluffy' but I don't think anyone needs to be criticised overtly and in a nasty way (not saying you did but others have).

If someone wants help in how to dress/what to wear then great! But if you've (not you personally just 'one') no interest in fashion then keep your mouth shut!

Erm...surely the fact that everybody on here is reading a thread about erm...fashion...would suggest that they have an interest in it?

WilburIsSomePig · 19/08/2014 18:04

I like your blog A57.

A57 · 19/08/2014 18:07

Thank you @WilburIsSomePig - this wasn't a thread about me, I just wanted to put my big voice across

mswibble · 19/08/2014 18:26

Id like 'a little bird' a little more if she could get through one paragraph without using the word sartorial. Though the same applies to most other 'fashion' bloggers too.
