Are we wearing long boots this winter or is it ankle boots all the way?

A few years back no one would have been seen dead in ankle boots with skirts or dresses. Now it seems that ankle boots are de rigeur, whatever anyone is wearing.
Do knee length boots have a place at all, and are they 'out' over skinnies?

I don't like the plain ones tbh my dp wears those to work though so that might be it. The Marks ones are v nice they come in black too

AngieM2 · 18/08/2014 16:17

Sorry, i dont like either of the Clarks ones....but thats only because they're just not me.

noddyholder · 18/08/2014 16:19

I am not keen on clarks in general but the loafers are lovely

dexter73 · 18/08/2014 16:27

manof - I like those clarks boots. I like dull, I don't do snazzy boots.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/08/2014 16:27

These are very me.

dexter73 · 18/08/2014 16:28

cointreau - I like those but don't like the colour of the soles.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/08/2014 16:29

And these nice for sunny Autumnal days.

AngieM2 · 18/08/2014 16:48

I like the Clarks ones remus But they are a bit too high for everyday walking for me.

ElephantsNeverForgive · 18/08/2014 17:10

The pale ones would be the perfect replacement for my leaking Clarks boots if they were a more practical dark tan.

The Marks boots will be Pantomime Clown territory if you have small feet. I have tried in 100's of M&S boots and they always are.

manofsponge · 18/08/2014 17:11

Elephants you dyed yet?

ElephantsNeverForgive · 18/08/2014 17:15

Why shoe manufacturers have such a blank spot for the fact that tiny feet tend to have small ankles, even if your legs aren't thin higher up.

I'm only short and my DF is even shorter and we are fed up of boots that make us look like garden gnomes.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 18/08/2014 17:15

My calves are too big for knee boots and my legs are too short fot ankle boots.....

I hate footwear in the winter and live up North so its aleays cold. No idea what to wear!

noddyholder · 18/08/2014 17:19

I have small feet and skinny ankles and the marks ones are fine.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/08/2014 17:20

I also have small feet and skinny ankles - have to pick and choose but have a couple of Marks pars which are good.

ElephantsNeverForgive · 18/08/2014 17:22

No!

woodlandwanderwoman · 18/08/2014 17:26

I love my long boots, I have black and brown and am already wearing them with stone coloured jeans.
I don't have and won't have ankle boots, and IMO, have never seen anyone who can pull them off with a skirt. Each to their own though. I have a pair of ankle shoes which are so difficult to match to an outfit that I have only ever worn them twice!!

woodlandwanderwoman · 18/08/2014 17:28

I should add - wearing long boots over skinny stone jeans

BravePotato · 18/08/2014 20:00

I like wearing longer boots with a dress or skirt, and with skinnies I prefer ankle boots.

I am not a high fashion person, so this is probably completely not-now at all.

Never liked skinnies in long boots, it feels uncomfortable, and looks a bit uncomfortable too. Ankle boots with dress does not work for me (ankles too thin, boots look ridiculous and wide, unless I buy...legwarmers (?????!!!!! ought I?)

Greenrememberedhills · 18/08/2014 20:33

I have some ankle boots similar to this, all leather, though.

At my age -54- I only wear them with trousers, but they aren't so different to the sort I had as a student. In those days I used to wear them with short ie mini skirts too, but never with long skirts. Longer skirts only suit longer boots.

SofaCanary · 18/08/2014 20:33

After a few years of ankle boots I'm being drawn more to knee length this year.

These in particular have got me drooling www.hush-uk.com/footwear/boots/tall_boot_taupe.htm

NumptyNu · 18/08/2014 21:57

Long boots here. I have skinny legs, so the long boots seem to even me out a bit. I'd look daft in ankles. I've seen the odd person look fairly good in the ankle/dress combo, but seenu my fails also. I'm going to stick to what I know! Boring I guess!

ThatBloodyWoman · 18/08/2014 22:04

I think if you're short knee boots somehow look better with tunics, dresses and skirts than ankle boots.

JetJungle · 18/08/2014 22:28

Any opinions on these?

ThatBloodyWoman · 18/08/2014 22:34

I like them.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/08/2014 22:35

Me too. Would prefer in brown though.
