Are we wearing long boots this winter or is it ankle boots all the way?

A few years back no one would have been seen dead in ankle boots with skirts or dresses. Now it seems that ankle boots are de rigeur, whatever anyone is wearing.
Do knee length boots have a place at all, and are they 'out' over skinnies?

Thanks Mrs Bowie...shall have a look

Orangeanddemons · 17/08/2014 19:17

Strutting around like Himmler Grin

This look is typified by slightly baggy jeans worn with knee high patent boots

CountBapula · 17/08/2014 19:22

Come to Mama

Perfect for hanging around the park with a baby and preschooler...

MrsDavidBowie · 17/08/2014 19:47

They are gorgeous boots but not terribly practical.
I have bought some similar but black suede. Make me six feet three.

CountBapula · 17/08/2014 19:50

I know, MrsDB. Total limo lifestyle boots. Still, one can dream...

Flipflops7 · 17/08/2014 19:51

I think there is another winter in the ankle boots / skirt combo. It's incredibly comfortable too.

manofsponge · 17/08/2014 19:51

I'm reading a book about the holocaust atm. Lots of pics if himmler

Dumbledoresgirl · 17/08/2014 19:51

I can't bloody WAIT to wear boots, long ones, short ones, flat ones, high ones .... love boots.... is it October ?? is it? is it??

My attitude entirely KBear.

I am holding out a bit before asking if I can wear long boots with a dress to a wedding I am going to in November.

MrsDavidBowie · 17/08/2014 19:56

countbapulaI would want sex in those boots, with Wolford hold ups.

ThatBloodyWoman · 17/08/2014 19:57

I have biker boots, moccasin boots, army boots, dms, kickers, wedge ankle boots, mid height knee boots, mid height ankle boots, walking boots and welly boots.
Boots make me happy and there's always something you can wear them with when the chill sets in.

I need more cowboy boots.....

dexter73 · 17/08/2014 19:57

I'm not quite ready for boots yet. It was a bit weird wearing socks today!

MillyDots · 17/08/2014 20:01

but its soooo chilly ...

manofsponge · 17/08/2014 20:01

Piss off. I'm in flip flops

CountBapula · 17/08/2014 20:04

Shock Grin MrsDB

dexter73 · 17/08/2014 20:06

You are right Milly, it is farking freezing but I will not wear boots in August!

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 17/08/2014 20:41

Goodness I don't even own a pair of boots! Obviously I'm missing out here!

I did own a pair of cowboy boots when I lived in the states years ago (lovingly called my "shit kickers" Grin) but I lived in the midwest and in the west, so everyone had them really.

I must look at getting some boots ....

MumBoots · 17/08/2014 20:46

I just dont love ankle boots. They look OK with jeans (which I rareky wear anyway) but other than that, I just cannot put them on and feel good. They look pathetic on me with a skirt (tall and curvy but very skinny ankles).

Long boots, on the other hand, always feel great.

I lived in flat, over-the-knee boots with thick tights and shirt skirts/dresses last winter. They were just sooo comfy and went with everything. I have a couple of pairs of slinky heeled boots I wore with longer dresses or skirts.

The silhouette of skirt-with-ankle-boot just isnt me. Its a young, Topshop-customer look. I'll never be into it.

Trills · 17/08/2014 20:49

I will be wearing my long boots IF I can get my calves into them. Right now I think I would not be able to.

Aforementioned calf issues mean I will not be wearing shoe-boots or similar. Ever.

DurhamDurham · 17/08/2014 20:51

Knee length black boots and three quarter length red boots for me. I have ankle boots too but in the depths of winter I prefer the extra length for added warmth.

Fedupnagging · 17/08/2014 20:54

Long boots are back in fashion? I didn't stop wearing them Blush.

So, yes to long boots with dresses and skirts and sometimes leggings and tunics and ankle boots with skinnies. In fact, I rarely wear shoes unless going out in the evening in winter. It's boots all the way for me.

macandcheesewithbaconbits · 17/08/2014 20:56

I've been lusting after these www.russellandbromley.co.uk/ankle-boots/poncho/invt/372010 since last year and now I'm confused after reading this thread ....
I think knee highs and ankles are AW14?
Non?

ThatBloodyWoman · 17/08/2014 21:10

Alice I don't own any shoes!

I just have boots, trainers and sandals!

Bluebell79 · 17/08/2014 21:18

Have fairly good legs and ankle boots with dresses isn't a good look on me, I'm not convinced when I try them with skinny jeans either. Flat knee high boots look the best on me with skinny jeans. This I think is because I'm apple shaped so the boots balance me out.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/08/2014 21:23

I love skirts with ankle boots and 'think' it suits me (skinny legs but also a shortarse).

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 17/08/2014 21:25

TBW After reading all this, I just want to go out and buy a pair of boots. Grin
