Are we wearing long boots this winter or is it ankle boots all the way?

A few years back no one would have been seen dead in ankle boots with skirts or dresses. Now it seems that ankle boots are de rigeur, whatever anyone is wearing.
Do knee length boots have a place at all, and are they 'out' over skinnies?

noddy, do you have a fashion or style blog?
I love your ideas and style

KristinaM · 18/08/2014 10:46

Don't ask noddy that -you will give her Idea Above Her Station Grin

Thank you dexter < bows to expert >

Perhaps we should have a day of posting photos of ourselves in boots.

manofsponge · 18/08/2014 14:55

this is what I look like in long boots

Unless those $395 ones in R and B come my way. Which is unlikley

AngieM2 · 18/08/2014 15:06

I'm hoping you gurus can help me. Haven't wore ankle boots for many years, usually wear knee lengths in winter. But it seems ankle ones are 'in' this year. I tried these on saturday, my 14 year old DD liked them What do people think? www.marksandspencer.com/leather-block-heel-chelsea-boots-with-insolia/p/p22309957. My usual day to day style is smart casual. Or else, can i have your recommendations. I did like the R&B ones posted upthread but not spending £195 on anklies!

noddyholder · 18/08/2014 15:20

I like those over knee ones One of the MN Brighton girls has them and they are stunning on

ThisBitchIsResting · 18/08/2014 15:20

I wore UGGs today! Short grey ones with Swarovski crystals on. I feel very TOWIE and very cosy, my feet have been in sandals all summer and I remembered I impulse bought these from the Branch309 website ages ago for a bargainous £50. They are amazing and I will be wearing them 24/7 now that I have remembered about them hiding at the back of my wardrobe.

I do have ankle boots (Cuban heel jobs) and knee high flat riding boots, but I am liking the images noddy describes of shoes with tights. I have Sept Vogue on the go and I love all the super short A line skirts with thick tights and then brogues on foot. Flat definitely feels more modern atm.

Those Marks ones look HARD

noddyholder · 18/08/2014 15:26

I tried the marks ones on So nice They look hard but not really

manofsponge · 18/08/2014 15:29

really? AHUm..

AngieM2 · 18/08/2014 15:30

They do look quite hard but are not really. I'm looking for a fairly low heel and something smarter rather than floppy with lots of buckles. I am off the NY in October so they need to tolerate much walking!

manofsponge · 18/08/2014 15:31

i have slim legs - are they gappy like those ash ones that looked panto ish on me

AngieM2 · 18/08/2014 15:32

I thought these were quite nice (not the blue colour) but they dont come in leather. www.duoboots.com/ankle-boots/navy-suede/idaho/d/

AngieM2 · 18/08/2014 15:36

man my legs are average, bodywise I'm a 10/12 and they fitted nice with skinny jeans tucked in them, not too gappy. I guess I'm just wanting to be told that I wont look a plonker in the boots I buy as the opinion of a 14 year old may not be relevant to a 44 year old.

Turquoiseblue · 18/08/2014 15:37

Whaaaatttt no Cuban heels ...... I love a nice Cuban heel......

ZaraW · 18/08/2014 15:37

I'll be bringing my Acne pistol ankle boots out for the 4th year they are still going strong.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/08/2014 15:40

Don't like those M&S ones - too shiny. I honestly don't care if the Cuban heeled type ones are in/out: I like them. In fact, I like boots more than any other item of footwear!

noddyholder · 18/08/2014 15:42

I have ash cowboy boots which i still love but do think they make some of my clothes look a bit dated Will prob still wear though as sooo comfy now that they are well worn. All the old granny shops sell them now

CointreauVersial · 18/08/2014 15:56

I like these - opinions?

noddyholder · 18/08/2014 15:57

I like those too

manofsponge · 18/08/2014 15:58

i think i slightly prefer these www.clarks.co.uk/p/26103983

but tbh i lOVE the patent tassle loafers which my sons LOATHE

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/08/2014 16:01

Those ones are nice. The suede ones I'm less fond of. Shiny tassled loafers - your sons are right. Matt tan ones nice.

CointreauVersial · 18/08/2014 16:02

manof - those are nice, but a teensy bit dull, perhaps?

noddyholder · 18/08/2014 16:03

I love all the patent I think its a nice update. Matt tan loafers or chelsea boots and I look like a sloane ranger!
