Chopping all my hair off...

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 06/08/2014 08:43

I'm feeling in need of a change, so this week I've decided to go from my past-shoulder-length hair, to next to nothing (something like the picture, but darker hair).

I have a long neck so I'm hoping to be able to pull it off, but have no idea about styling or even what cut I'm asking for.

My hair is curly/wavy and I don't want it shaved or shaped too severely.

Does anyone have any tips and more importantly, what cut am I asking for?!

I've got a big(ish) forehead Mardybum - I do my hair forward like the photo above.

Hi OP - I'm afraid I haven't read the whole thread so someone else might have said this, but have you looked into donating your hair? If you're having 7 inches off then you could donate it to the little princess trust for the cost of postage. Other charities take 10-12 inches I think. Have a look on their website for a few rules to follow and to make sure they're able to take your hair.

I had it done recently and also asked for sponsorship for another charity, or you could raise money for the little princess trust as they use the hair to make wigs for children with cancer but still need to pay to have them made.

Good luck with the chop anyway! Smile

I would love to have my hair chopped off but I'm persevering and growing it for my wedding next September....I have threatened to get it all chopped off whilst we're on honeymoon though Grin

Wild, do it!

Nomore, unfortunately it was part dyed and in terrible condition, so wouldn't be suitable. I did ask!

Well now, you'd look fab.

Earlier this week I was all geared up for cutting all mine off, now I'm having second thoughts. Have (hopefully) put a picture of my current hair up, any opinions welcome. (Excuse the rubbish photo, I have a hangover!)

I innocently clicked on this thread Chris and have just lost two days of my life reading your horse threads, the parking bollards on the Isle of Wight thread and then the trainee lawyer wanting to extend into her shared access space thread!

I would have sooooo much more time on my hands if it wasn't for mumsnet!

Sorry for the gap in posting, I've been off in RL for a bit.

Sunny :o I'm so sorry! Will you ever forgive me?

I still love my hair. Definitely going shorter next time. It's mostly being styled messily which suits me fine. I am experimenting with hair product :)

Fuckyouchris - I've just posted a similar thread, have to say you inspired me to get off my backside and start to do something about my dodgy do after reading this thread!! Have you started a cut it off revolution I wonder?! p.s I was an avid lurker on your horse threads and was pleased it was all resolved in the end!

Thanks bob :)

The weirdest thing that I'm finding is that every night, I put my head on the pillow and think I've left a hairband in, before remembering that I have no hair.

The only change I'll be making will be to go slightly shorter.

I second that! My hair doesn't do proper fringes, you could have an amazing cut with an amazing fringe.

Do it!

:)

I've actually been surprised by how much I can do with it. It doesn't take much to restyle completely. I was a bit worried not being able to tie it up, but it hasn't bothered me at all as yet.

I don't have to worry about my hair getting in my face on a windy day, I don't have to move it around in the shower to wash the other shoulder, I use a tiny bit of shampoo, my hair seems to go longer between washes since it's not being dragged down by its length.

That's a few good things :)

And dh loves it.

Hello! Just realised I hadn't been back to see the results of the chop!
Fuckyouchris that looks great!! and Gast go for it! keep a big heavy fringe and get the rest chopped!

I have had short-hair error on my last cut - she cut the front when wet and when it's dry, it's far too short to be Ginnifer Goodwin but not short enough to be Jean Seberg Sad. I didn't realise at the time - you know how it always looks fab when they've styled it for you - but at the moment I am rocking a dreadful frumpy mum-cut.

However - short hair bonus! It grows fast so I will be back for another cut in 2 weeks and will tell the hairdresser to leave the front ALONE! or cut it terrifyingly short and I will be back to short-haired coolness with you all Grin
