Chopping all my hair off...

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 06/08/2014 08:43

I'm feeling in need of a change, so this week I've decided to go from my past-shoulder-length hair, to next to nothing (something like the picture, but darker hair).

I have a long neck so I'm hoping to be able to pull it off, but have no idea about styling or even what cut I'm asking for.

My hair is curly/wavy and I don't want it shaved or shaped too severely.

Does anyone have any tips and more importantly, what cut am I asking for?!

Good luck, I enjoyed having mine. I did have to wash it every day, you could always tell what side I'd slept on the night before! But it didn't take very long at all. I liked clay for styling mine, didn't make it feel sticky and gave it a nice shape.

Only thing for me was getting it cut so often. I'm now growing it out and have a rather fetching shaggy mullet Grin. But that's my fault for being too stingy money conscious

:o

Slight panic earlier when dh announced he's having to work away until Friday night, but he's optimistic he'll be back in time for my 5pm appointment (which I obviously cannot miss under any circumstances.

I'm very tempted to cut all mine off. It's shoulder length at the moment but constantly tied back. I've had it short before and found it a bit of a caffeine because of the maintenance but I find it so frustrating at the moment. It only looks good down if I straighten it (has a wave/link to it)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/08/2014 21:30

I went from shoulder length all one length (which took ages to aquire) to wispy fringe to layers with a heavier fringe.
Layers didn't work, my hair has waves (I'd forgotten with the length)
So I had a short cut done (Easter) and it's fab.
It does need regular trims and I do need to get it cut again.
I used to wash it daily, now I do every other day, but on non-washing days , I still soak my hair in the shower.

Various pomades, serums, mousses depending on if I'm at work (tidy) or not ( bit wilder)
Takes minutes to do, and I don't get the sweaty scalp ( hormones) that I used to get at night.

Easier to dye, easier to change colour, it grows out.
I'm using Superdrug Copper Red at the moment but I'm considering topping it up with a semi-permenant in a richer red.

Mygast, sounds just like my hair.

70, I am a bit worried about the constant cuts, but then, I guess I'll just be joining dh's routine.

I had mine done about 8 weeks ago and I love it so much every day. just like you OP I always tied it back and now it is in a style that I literally do nothing to except tousle from time to time and wash a couple of time a week.

and my friend and I cut it ourselves a fe weeks ago as an interim measure! it was fine!!! not as good obv but we might do it between cuts as it is hard for me to get to hairdresser.

my ultimate goal is to get the clippers on it..

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 08/08/2014 08:09

Poo :)

That sounds perfect.

I've got a big event tomorrow, I would love to walk in and have everyone's jaws drop.

Sorry! Only just got back :o

I love it! Hairdresser was brilliant and changed bits to suit me. Dh loves it too and can't stop grinning at me.

Thank you all for making sure I got there. The whole staff kept wandering past and giving me the thumbs up (it was a slow evening :o )

I am very happy.

Dancealot · 08/08/2014 19:01

Sorry, x-post. Looks fab and very shiny for short hair.

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 08/08/2014 19:02

Looks great, well done Grin
I cut my own hsir, so trim it when it's needed. It's not actually that hard when it's short (hairdressers may dispute thisGrin)

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 08/08/2014 19:15

Thanks coco, I can see myself using the dog trimmer on it :o

Looks good! Well done!

FreakinScaryCaaw · 08/08/2014 19:24

It's lovely.

I have long hair and am thinking of cutting it. I did it myself last time (am/was hairstylist) and everyone said it looked great. Am also going lighter too. I don't really trust anyone to do mine how I want it. Plus am getting married next June so if I want it long again it'll grow by then.

Cocolepew · 08/08/2014 19:24

You'll be wanting a new wardrobe now. All striped tops and cigarette trousers so you can waft around like Jean Seberg Grin

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 08/08/2014 19:28

:o that's going to be my new look! I'll get shopping.

Caaw, thank you, I wish I could cut my own hair. I have to say, the stylist was brilliant and really inspired confidence. She got a big tip :)

Thanks Gilbert!
