The new loreal advert for hairspray got me thinking about my school days when Insette was the hairspray of choice. Hair never moved for weeks and you could practically snap it off. Vidal Sassoon that smelled like apples. Constant Carol that only did foundation in orange, oranger and orangist. Care to add yours Smile

I have a bottle of Flex conditioner that I found at the back of a cupboard at my late PIL's place. It still has the smell.

I use it when I want to be reminded of my late grandmother.

Did anyone ever wash their hair then tie it in tiny plaits , tie each one with a band and sleep like that.
Next day you'd have soft waves (like Kate Bush on the cover of Lionheart)

Then along came crimping irons Grin

Body shop coca nut shampoo, back in the day when everything still had green labels and you could take your bottle to be re-filled.

Bright pink Sure roll on deodorant.

Body shop Brazil nut tanning lotion...to be fair later branded as a sort of after sun that helped you keep your tan, but back in the 80's I do remember smothering it on and lying in the sun.

Hair gel...everything from Shock waves to superdrug own, it was everywhere.

I used to use Coconut hair gel from the Body Shop, if I didnt use it quick enough it went mouldy.

That makeup that you ordered from a leaflet in magazines, you had to fill in a quiz about your face shape and eye colour and stuff and they sent you makeup and a personal booklet on how to put it all on?

I still have the purple eyeshadow palette :-D

Two eyeshadows from Boots... a shimmery blue one and a shimmery heather coloured one. Cannot remember the names, but the whole of Year 4 at Ilkely Grammer wore one or the other in 1975!

I liked woody sandlewood perfume from the body shop. And their Ananya one. My mum said the woody sandlewood nod made me smell of BO.

Stairs YY - I persuaded my mum to do the mail order make up 'tailored to my individual colouring'!

I remember my French teacher being appalled at my interesting combination of bright orange nails and the abovementioned iron lady purple shimmer lipstick!
I probably had plum hair and blue eyelashes. Bloody gorgeous - I seriously thought I was the dogs. [big grin]

Body mist! I can actually smell it now, reeking out the PE changing room.

This thread is also making me smell body shop dewberry, white musk and coconut hair gel.

And wash & go... It was so funny, it was the 80s fgs not 1523, we had actually already invented telephones and computers and aeroplanes. Yet when they invented a mixture of shampoo and conditioner the entire country was gripped in flabbergasted awe. It must have been the most successful ad campaign ever. EVERYONE bought it.
