The new loreal advert for hairspray got me thinking about my school days when Insette was the hairspray of choice. Hair never moved for weeks and you could practically snap it off. Vidal Sassoon that smelled like apples. Constant Carol that only did foundation in orange, oranger and orangist. Care to add yours Smile

Rimmel Birthday Suit or Heather Shimmer lipstick.

Woolworths toiletries as a cheaper alternative to body Shop, think it was called Fruits of the Forest, I can remember the Dewberry (the present for Christmas and birthdays).

White eyeliner all around the rim of your eyes.

Tippex painted on our fingernails in Maths classes (WHY?).

Always had to have little tins of lip balm to hand, I used Blistex even though it stung.

Loreal Free Style mousse and cant remember brand but coloured mousse that stained your hands! Loved the Miss Selfridge kiss and make up range - for my birthday I once had a set in what looked like a cardboard book with the pink lips on the cover.

My mum used to have some Boots green hair gel in a tub that I used to pinch sometimes. It was a bit thin and watery though.

All the girls in my year wore O2 by Impulse, it did smell good though.

Oh and not really a beauty product but we were mad about Bach Rescue. Remedy. Our group got through loads of the stuff! Don't know what we thought we were so anxious about!

Oh yes, white eyeliner to make your eyes look bigger!

Horrible lipliner and colour your lips in the middle with glossy lipstick which wore off before the liner, mmm.

Highlighter all over special areas of face, dark powder up sides of nose. I must have looked like mBoy George.

Oxy10 spot cream.

Clean and clear - just like Clinique toner but 1/30 of the price.

(Do you dream in colour? What colours do you dream?) Huh huh huh Harmony hair dye.

Georgio (sp?) Beverly Hills, the smell of which could fill an arena.

Ann French Deep Cleansing Milk (in the triangular bottle) as has been mentioned.
Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails.
Anais Anais (my mum still wears this).
Charlie perfume.
Dry shampoo.
Electric blue eyeliner and mascara.

I think all of the above was advertised in 'Jackie.' Leslie Ash was their regular cover girl in the 70s and I was SO envious of her looks - not any more! Such a shame she went for the trout pout.

Ten-0-six cleanser
Samsara, Candice or white musk perfume
Insette hairspray
Those star and moon face sequins that you'd stick on with glue in the 70s.

My mum was an Avon rep so we had teeny tiny lipsticks to take to school. Smile

Sun in.

Shit loads of black eyeliner

Avon's lilac whisper eyeshadow and a brownish lipstick that I can't remember the name for - it was discontinued when I was a teen and caused much heartache and panic buying Grin

Natrel Plus deodorant was the only deodorant that was deemed acceptable after PE. Where did that go?

Oh, and Dune was the perfume from my sixth form - except I HATED it then and still hate it now - it makes me sneeze.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Limara!

My bf and I were put on lock down for using Shaders and Toners and Sun-In after way too much use. We used to sneakily buy jars of Boots coconut oil which melted in the sun and rub it in our hair while we were at the beach! We must have looked like two greasy rats when we came home.

We were huge lovers of Panstick, and that green undertone stuff from Boots you would paint on with a plastic spatula. I always think about it when I watch Edward Scissorhands! Grin

I had a mascara that was white/pink for the edge of your lashes. Must've been a great look - like you'd had lighter singe...you could put it in your hair too. Set off my spiral perm lovely that did. Hmm

Did anyone have one of those gas powered curling tong things? To achieve the correct curl my friend and I would spray on loads of VO5 gel spray and then burn our hair into shape with the gas tongs. Used to leave a lovely brown crispy shell on the tongs.

I was a big fan of Opium from 16 onwards. Before that anything from my mums dressing table - Kiku featured heavily (with matching talc and puff, as did Charlie.

Clearasil in a square glass bottle
God, glitter cheek balm, I'd forgotten all about that!
Always hated Dewberry, I was a white musk girl, but it was my friends favourite
Long feathered earrings, pixie boots, frilly blouses, lace fingerless gloves, little bolero jacket....I WAS Bananarama (in my head anyway!)
Those glittery plastic combs
'Opium' perfume for nighttime.....Confused

Jeeez!! Natrel plus was a beast! I used to spray it then have to promptly breathe into my dressing gown because if you sniffed it in you'd choke!

Or was that Arrid?

Tribe perfume! I loved that!

And vanilla kisses by Impulse - was there a whole vanilla range?

Only chucked away my Rimmel Black Cherries last year Blush

I got 'Shout' (I think) magazine every week as it always gave away a Collection 2000 product.

I still use Boots 17 and Collection 2000... Should I upgrade to a more 'grown up' range now I'm 32? Grin

WallyBantersJunkBox · 15/07/2014 00:48

I think it was Arrid - fits of sneezing would follow.

Yves Rocher - it all seemed so glam and French and sophisticated. They constantly did deals where you bought, say, a bottle of nail varnish remover for 89p and got a bag of recommended samples thrust on you worth about a tenner. Love it.

Who put vodka in their hair on holiday to make it blonder? We did. It worked but my friend's hair snapped off so we just drank it instead!

Yy to loads of aforementioned esp Studio Line, Dewberry and Heather Shimmer lippy.
