The new loreal advert for hairspray got me thinking about my school days when Insette was the hairspray of choice. Hair never moved for weeks and you could practically snap it off. Vidal Sassoon that smelled like apples. Constant Carol that only did foundation in orange, oranger and orangist. Care to add yours Smile

My sister and I spent a whole summer with orange hair after over enthusiastic Sun-In use Grin, clashed horribly with our electric blue eyeliner and frosted pink lipstick.
Those were the days.
(I still have some White Musk shower gel)

Vitapoint (!?) Conditioner

MissOtisRegretsMadam · 14/07/2014 22:19

Did body shop stuff come in little baskets padded with fake straw??

Loveleopardprint · 14/07/2014 22:19

Rimmel Amethyst Shimmer Lipstick and anything free that came with "My Guy" or "Just Seventeen"

MissOtisRegretsMadam · 14/07/2014 22:21

No fake tan either... Just American tan legs and pasty white arms and orange pan stick face and roll on body glitter.

Did adults use all these things too?
The teens I see now are so stylish and just dress like grown ups but seem to carry it off better.

Oh Salon Selectives! "Be selective!"

lilolilmanchester · 14/07/2014 22:22

Coffee Shimmer- despite being a freckley redhead, wow I must have looked stunning!

Stargazer nail varnish from the indoor market.

An eyeshadow called Storm which was dark grey but can't remember the make- worn with no mascara, you can imagine how great that looked with my pale redhead eyelashes!

Dewberry definitely.

I loved it when The Body Shop had all the glass bottles out with the glass sticks in to test the perfume.

fidgetywidget · 14/07/2014 22:26

House I was about to say Impulse O2 as well! Bloomin loved that stuff!
Kindred spirit perfume & body spray, I think it was a cheapie version of CKone? My DH found me some on eBay recently Grin

Kbear · 14/07/2014 22:28

Woodleigh Green Apple Shampoo

I remember hair washing before they invented conditioner (or before my mum actually bought it at least) - the knots, the screaming.... trying to comb it through afterwards

These youngsters don't know they are born...

JoyceDivision · 14/07/2014 22:30

heather shimmer rimmel lipstick

black cherries rimmel lipstick

shockwaves hairspray in a bright pink plastic bottle with purple pump handle - looked oh so modern - use with hairdryer on hot to holdyour fringe up above your forehead an inch and then it flopped to side, and to hold oneside of hair sticking out a bit, so you sort of had a hairy L on your head

exclamation perfume!!!

The stinging topcoat to fix your lipstick

grolsch bottle tops on your shoes

school ties tied really really short

Kbear · 14/07/2014 22:31

Astral moisturiser in a blue pot, Anne French Cleanser, pink eyeshadow and blue mascara, anything Shimmer by Rimmel, glitter on your cheek bones, hair mascara from Avon that stunk to high heaven, VO5 hairspray or Silvikrin, then massive curly perms and a bit of Pink Shockwaves to keep it in place (don't like a fag FGS, you'll go up like a roman candle...)

God bless the 80s

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/07/2014 22:31

Pregnantagain7 · 14/07/2014 22:35

Kbear · 14/07/2014 22:36

and remember Wash and Go when it first came out (advertised mid way through Brookside and we all went into shock...)

Take two bottles into the shower? not me, I wash and go!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/07/2014 22:36

Insette hair mousse (I never used it, I didn't have well behaved hair with or without mousse)

Those gold spray in hair sprays.

And 'Miss Selfridges' had their own beauty line with lip-prints as the decor (I coveted madly but could never afford it Sad )
But I DID buy the dressing gown. Cotton, just covered my butt.

Pregnantagain7 · 14/07/2014 22:36

Oh and Bodyshop Japanese washing grains they were like little stones you exfoliated your face with I'm surprised I actually skin left!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/07/2014 22:38

There was 'Once' shampoo as well (shake it to blend the layers)

And there was a conditioner ( I think Dimensions) that when someone used it, you could smell it on their hair.

Rhubarbgarden · 14/07/2014 22:39

Oh Cecy those little glass perfume bottles in Body Shop! I could spend hours sniffing those. Strawberry was my favourite. Happy memories.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/07/2014 22:39

No, I lied , it was Revlon 'Flex' that had the strong smell (but nice)

LizzieVereker · 14/07/2014 22:40

Roma perfume by the Body Shop. I would give ANYTHING to find a bottle of that.

Pink eyeshadow and electric blue mascara. I remember applying this on the bus on the way to the swimming pool. Why? Confused.

I also remember the sheer horror of life before hair straighteners. Shock
