Oh Cremo Sad

BTM, he's recast the summer t'ai chi as childcare that he has thoughtfully sorted for me!

Blackduck · 30/06/2014 11:22

Oh Cremo :(

How can he recast the summer T'ai chi as childcare Hmm

With regards to BIL visit it does seem like you can't win. I think I'd be very cross and point out in no uncertain terms that I am not prepared to be the scapegoat in all this.

I had a major blow up at dp last night, I predict things will change for about a week and then it'll all go back to normal (sigh)

hattymattie · 30/06/2014 11:40

God Cremo - how frustrating - puts my no show painters in perspective. Can your GP not call them and shift them.

Much hand holding about DD going away. I think my DD going is boing to break my heart - I think she is the only person on the planet that actually gets me 100%. I am consoling myself with the thought of many trips to England.

MI - I hate it when others turn round situations like this - especially when you are doing your best to be accommodating. Brings out killer rage.

mother fear of criticism of ones work is very debilitating. The fact that CDiff always seems to be in a bad mood is actually her ( his?) fault. Don't make her/his problems into yours. (Easier said than done by someone who hides behind the sofas at the thought of even constructive criticism....) Confused
Sorry about the other stuff...I bet there aren't very many on this forum who don't suffer from partner disengagement in the domestic arena...My exH's family were the sort that turned up unannounced on the doorstep with suitcases and called me inhospitable for looking shocked. I made one of them an apple pie bed once, I was so pissed off. How's that for childish revenge.
cremo BD sorry for your angst.. I send you strength and Thanks
I have an ex on my fb. He's hasn't aged as well as me Grin

Any way can I join the growing band of women under this black cloud? Just pissed off and Envy of people with a job to go to. I am sitting in Starbucks in sainsburys wasting time and eating empty calories.

motherinferior · 30/06/2014 12:47

He's taking the kids with him to summer t'ai chi, which I have to admit makes me snigger.

That's the thing: if I bring something up with DP, he steps up to the plate. The problem is - as I've ranted on about before - the realisation that there's a problem in the first place!

And wrt to the inlaws....I am going to beam serenely (and annoyingly, which is what will sustain me) and attempt to Rise Above.

CointreauVersial · 30/06/2014 12:55

Grin at apple pie bed. Takes me back to boarding school days....!

hattymattie · 30/06/2014 13:11

Malory TowersGrin - although I have to confess I'm not entirely sure what an apple pie bed is - something to do with the sheets being folded in half.

Rosebag · 30/06/2014 13:30

Ha ha…I was thinking that I learned to make one from reading Enid Blyton, Hatty.
It's really before the era of duvets. As you say, you fold back up in half, the bottom sheet i think, and then make the bed as normal with top sheet and blankets. he person getting in can only get their legs half way down the bed.We also used to put brushes and combs in the fold just to add insult to injury….I went to boarding school abroad for a bit Grin

Rosebag · 30/06/2014 13:31

The, not he

NUFC69 · 30/06/2014 13:44

Good thoughts to those of you suffering stress. MI, start practising your Mona Lisa smile right now and come on here and rant when you want.

Been there, done that as far as Dds leaving to go to university etc. It is stressful but exciting for you and them, but at least you have mobiles these days. The house will seem empty, but not for long and I soon found I appreciated the peace and quiet. What I found was that certain times of the day were worst: coming home from school time in particular. I also arranged all sorts of "grown up" things to do with Dd over the summer which probably laid the foundations for our relationship for the future.

Crem, that's rubbish about the physio: I hope it can be sorted out satisfactorily.

bigTillyMint · 30/06/2014 15:19

Cremo and hatty, DD said she was never leaving home last night.
That was before we refused to write her a note about leaving school early Grin as they are extending the school day next term, but doing a trial run this weekConfused

wordassociationfootball · 30/06/2014 15:50

Excuse me, Crem, you work with 3 ex boyfriends???? How?

motherinferior · 30/06/2014 17:13

Were they all boyfriends at the same time?

Respect.

cremolafoam · 30/06/2014 17:33

Nope, not at same time Grin over say 15-20 years
But b-fast v small. Hard to avoid ones x-squeezes.all of them work in this building. ShockGrin.

bigTillyMint · 30/06/2014 18:06

Cremo, respect from me too!

motherinferior · 30/06/2014 18:25

My lefty alcoholic ex sometimes does shifts on the newspaper which is in the same building as DP's office.

Sometimes a sort of ex from ages ago also plays in an orchestra in the same building.

And sometimes he has meetings with another ex of mine...

Am I the only person awaiting MrsS's contributions on this theme Wink?

Auriga · 30/06/2014 18:37

Thanks for consolation/ encouragement, everyone. Weekend redeemed by DD's maiden voyage with the symphony orchestra, which was awesome. DH cried (knew he would).

Today I went to her GCSE recital & she was great. Worth all the contortions involved in leaving work early.

Am also preparing to make work changes so life will be easier (in one respect anyway) in about four months.

Crem, sorry to hear about the physio: I had to chase relentlessly for DH but it paid off in the end. Has your DDad had his stent?

Managed to write two letters to bereaved friends. Do these things really come in clusters? Feels like it.

Decided I am not giving DDog enough opportunity to use her intelligence. Bought her a puzzle game where you hide treats under yellow cups and she has to work out how to remove the cups. She worked it out all right, but then ran off with the cups Shock missing the point spectacularly.

bigTillyMint · 30/06/2014 18:43

Well done Auriga's DDSmile
And DDog!

hattymattie · 30/06/2014 18:50

Auriga - the orchestra sounds wonderful - I'd have cried too, you must be so proud. Unfortunately, DD1's main thing is the piano so not really good for an orchestra (she's not quite piano concerto level)Wink.

Grin at DDog missing his treats.

Went to uncle's funeral - my father's side of the family. I was struck how sedate it all was compared to my mother's side. It was very English, very Surrey, compared to the shoutiness and noise of a funeral on my mother's side. No-one had a screaming row before the ceremony. There were no debates about who was or wasn't going in which car, followed by a row because Joan went in one of the main cars and she wasn't family, she was an in law. It was all terribly naice and civilised. I hedged the assumptions that my mother wasn't there because she didn't travel much these days (she's in Barbados), didn't go to the wake because it was miles away, and went home for a nap.

MI - I don't bump into many ex boyfriends at work these days because most of them are either dead or retired...

motherinferior · 30/06/2014 21:16

Ah.Sad Mine are mainly alive if pickled in drunk and drugs and pervitude.

Auriga, speaking as a cat-owner I'm impressed by DDog's good behaviour!

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/06/2014 21:33

The two men my mother wanted me to marry (either, not both together) are screamingly successful now - one is CEO of a laaaaarge company, the other is a Tory MP. Of my significant exes, my First Love died last year of cancer, one is married with kids in Ireland, being supported by his high achieving wife and a third is Amazingly Successful and Rich (but he was an arsehole). I still see The Men My Mother Wanted Me To Marry from time to time, and we are supposed to be going out for a drink (all three of us) after the summer.

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/06/2014 21:35

Shouldn't we be thinking of a new thread name?

originalpiratematerial · 30/06/2014 22:39

One of mine has just emailed to say that he's over from the US for a few nights and would I like to have dinner. To which the answer is yes, kind of, but DS3 makes it all very tricky.
