Way to go Crem - I should do this but it involves getting up very early and standing around in the cold all day .

Glad to hear a good time was had by all attending last night's meet-up. And well done to Crem on the carbootathon and to Auriga for splendid singing in a challenging scenario.
I drank too much Cava last night but had no ill-effects at all aside from feeling a little vague. Ds was invited on a surprise wild camping trip today, so he has disappeared off with friend, friend's little bro and their dad to do fishing and other exciting activities in a field in the back of beyond. That's two 9 year old, a 7 year old and a gung-ho dad. They're building a shelter, apparently. Although there is also a tent of some description. Dd is in a huff because she says she wants to do something like that. Yeah right. I can just imagine her face if I'd suggested a weekend in a field with no washing facilities apart from a river. Blackduck · 28/06/2014 20:16

I know BTM I'm taking notes....

NUFC69 · 28/06/2014 21:00

Well done, Crem, - I have never done a car boot sale as we tend to hang on to all our stuff (witness the fact that the GC are using toys which their parents played with!).

I hope you can sort out the visa ok, MI. What a nightmare. When DH used to go the company arranged for someone else to sort it out for him. It does remind me, though, of the occasion when he arrived in Moscow only to discover that his visa started the next day ..... they kept him in a small room until midnight!

I hope your DS enjoys his wild camping, Stropps, it does sound fun and I can quite understand your DD being miffed, I would be too (but I still couldn't cope with primitive toilet facilities).

I admire your fortitude, Auriga; such a difficult thing to do (but a lovely one, too).

DGS1 went back to his parents this afternoon; we had a great morning playing with him and then took him out for lunch at our favourite Italian where the staff made a great fuss of him. DD enjoyed her concert, but is suffering from lack of sleep - I wasn't surprised then to hear that GS has been playing her up all afternoon. She is threatening to bring him to live with us as he behaves so much better here. Smile

Auriga · 28/06/2014 22:20

Bad day. Have just typed and then deleted an explanation but it's to do with sister who has major mental illness. On top of friend's funeral it's left me on the ropes. Did manage to cook but DD didn't eat it. Some days are just shit and should be cancelled.

Stropperella · 28/06/2014 22:55

Here's wishing you a better day tomorrow, Auriga. Be kind to yourself.

beachyhead · 28/06/2014 22:58

Consider it cancelled, Auriga.

I hope tomorrow brings good cheer.

NUFC69 · 28/06/2014 23:14

Sorry, Auriga, I decree a better day tomorrow. Get a good night's sleep which will help you cope in the morning.

cremolafoam · 28/06/2014 23:30

Oh Auriga, not for discussion . A good sleep is needed. You're right; some days are simply pants. You've done your fair share this week already, over and above.
Strength to you tomorrow.Thanks

I don't know how I'm still awake frankly . Am exhausted , but leg is feeling twisty and scalded. Bored with this now. And I caught the sun at the boot sale so I have a big pink fizogAngry
Duh!

MrsSchadenfreude · 28/06/2014 23:55

It wasn't me drinking the dregs from others' glasses.

Very wet school fete today, and not in the best mood, as DD2 came running up to us, asked for £5 and then disappeared for over an hour. She didn't reappear so we took ourselves into town for tea and cake. Got a call from the house parent over an hour later, saying DD2 was looking for us and couldn't find us.

Blackduck · 29/06/2014 08:36

Auriga hope today is better.

Sun shining here - charity cricket match on the cards

motherinferior · 29/06/2014 09:41

I hold my hand up to dregsWineConfusedWine

Auriga, I am so sorry. Do off-load if you need to.

Rudy, how is the offspring-related issue going?

MrsSchadenfreude · 29/06/2014 09:49

Hope your Sunday is better Auriga. Agree to cancel out yesterday. Can you spend a little time to yourself doing something nice today? Even if it's just having a nice uninterrupted bath or reading a book in the garden.

motherinferior · 29/06/2014 10:37

And yet again I am the person in charge of child-related logistics.AngryAngryI just went and tried to coordinate something with DP re Tues, which is a complicated day and I have to be at a meeting from mid-afternoon till early evening. He sighed and did big passive-agressie number ("so sorry, so sorry") and went to get his diary.

The calendar doesn't work. Emailing him at work doesn't work. And at the same time I don't even get any credit for sorting things because if I do say there is a problem - something that is insurmountable - he then steps in (as long as it doesn't clash with something Really Important) and sorts it but that ignores my frantic day to day keeping everything afloat. I don't know what to do about it.

It's not my problem that he can't remember what day his brother is here - with entire posh horrible family - from Indonesia, though. GrinGrinGrin

bigTillyMint · 29/06/2014 10:57

MI, I so feel your pain - DHs lack of engagement with arrangements and my refusal to organise because it was his trip to his parents is why DD has been upset this weekend.

Sorry to hear of your crap day yesterday Auriga - hope today is much better.

I am soooo bored. Want to go off for a walk but it will be thought to be rude.

MrsSchadenfreude · 29/06/2014 11:03

My headache yesterday got worse and worse - took nurofen, didn't work. It got to the stage when even my hair hurt. Then I threw up and it went immediately. I have now come on, and have horrendous period pain. Hmm

DH is getting better re child related stuff. MI can bear witness to how crap he was in Paris, as he forgot to collect the children from school, they turned up at the flat when she was fortunately there, he wasn't answering mobile or work phone, no-one knew where he was. He finally called me at 7.30 (three hours after he was supposed to collect/meet them) saying he had "just noticed the time." So really, he couldn't get worse.

Blackduck · 29/06/2014 11:34

I have to say do looks like a positive saint compared to yours MI and MrsS BUT I do have remind several times if a packed lunch is required or an early start!!

Have just organised the early part of the hols and I know Stropps mentioned a July meet up. Anyone up for Friday 25th July???

NUFC69 · 29/06/2014 12:40

I hope your day has started better, Auriga?

That sounds grim, MrsS; we suffer with female related problems all our lives - there are just different problems after the menopause. I have just made our Almond and Poppyseed cake again, by the way. It's going to DS and DDil's tomorrow to cheer them up.

DH just never got involved with child-related everyday problems, although he was always very good with the big stuff like taking them to uni open days. I think one of the reasons why he is enjoying being a GF is that he missed so much of our DC's lives when they were small.

Well I am nearer, BD on the 25th, but only as far as the Midlands as we are going to a Ruby Wedding Anniversary Party in the Cotswolds on the 26th .....

wordassociationfootball · 29/06/2014 13:19

Auriga. Hope today not as grim. The not eating what you've cooked is vexing enough when you haven't got other shit going down. Am still cross with conductor git that got it so wrong BTW.

Btm I often take trainers to in laws as going for a'run'is legit.

motherinferior · 29/06/2014 13:33

WAF, my DD1 says yours is lovely btwGrin

MrsSchadenfreude · 29/06/2014 14:14

I appear to have acquired an unpaid translating job (Dutch and French into English) - it's for a friend's blog. Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 29/06/2014 14:16

And am on the gin.

bigTillyMint · 29/06/2014 14:20

I could probably do Fri 25th Smile

WAF, I brought my trainers but.... Hopefully going home soon!

Gin? Looks at watchSmile

originalpiratematerial · 29/06/2014 18:14

Auriga I hope you've had a nicer day today Thanks.

Motherinferior, you have been wrestling with DP's non-engagement forever and a day now Sad - no suggestions but bucket loads of sympathy.

CointreauVersial · 29/06/2014 18:35

July 25th I will be ......(consults diary)....coasteering with my offspring at Adrenalin Quarry then staying the night at a farmhouse B&B in Looe. So you'll have to go drinking without me.

Yesterday's family BBQ was unexpectedly dry, although not exactly sunny. DH cooked up a storm. 3yo DNiece was an absolute darling and kept us all entertained. We've spent today doing very little.

Auriga Thanks Thanks take care of yourself.
