You didn't finish your wine, BTM but someone else did.

It was that last bottle... I am Easily Led.

Auriga · 28/06/2014 09:33

Well done, Stropps, great news Grin

Singing for friend's memorial was tough. There was a slideshow of pics of her; radiantly happy as a child, at her wedding, with her babies, with the choir. Her son, husband and friend made touching tributes which seemed to bring her right back into the church with us. We sang a motet in German for which she taught us all the pronunciation and translations, so I always hear the words in her voice. It took ferocious concentration to block all that out & sing properly & we were exhausted afterwards.

Long drive back, then fish and chips and Midsomer Murders.

Hope everyone's had a lovely meet-up.

cremolafoam · 28/06/2014 09:46

Gosh Auriga that must have been emotionally draining, but oh what a beautiful tribute. The choice of music sounds absolutely lovely . Hope you can have a justified rest today.

People are bizarre- the stuff they buy.
Just had a woman try to bargain me down from 50p to 30p for a pakt of plasticine . Bonkers. It's for charidee mrs.Shock

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 28/06/2014 09:49

And yes, well done Stropps. Now do you know what sort of interview it will be, and can any of us help?

hattymattie · 28/06/2014 10:02

Crem - at our English Church fete, we often have Arabs who try to bargain. My friend told a guy that it was for charity and there was no bargaining and he told her he didn't like her attitude or her accent.Grin

Auriga - I think the photo memories would have been too much for me, as Crem said - very emotionally draining.

Glad a fun night was had by all and that people (with the exception of Mrs S) are not too hung over. QQ - uni tour sounds exhausting - I'm just going to check in with you next year when we start doing all this again with DD2.Wink.

We have realised it's the start of Ramadan - DH has therefore made a beeline for the Arab shop in the next town where, for the duration, we can buy fabulous pastries, baclavas etc. After Ramadan, they are no longer available, causing great disappointment last year when we had a sudden yearning!

Really enjoyed last night. Seeing QQfor first time ever and recognising the Cos jumpsuit was odd/good. (Great jumpsuit) Turns out Addle and I know people in common and she has met my sister! (Won't say owt Addle). Bizarro. Park Run was good. I only did one lap. Legs heavy with pina colada (ultra lightweight). Dd1 is taking herself to ballet so not quite such an onerous hanging around sort of day.

Blackduck · 28/06/2014 12:24

I did wonder if MrsS was drinking everyone else's wine!
Sorry to miss the jumpsuit too!

It is hammering it down here so I don't intend to do too much!

motherinferior · 28/06/2014 12:44

I am lost in the utter maze of horror that is the Indian visa system.

Blackduck · 28/06/2014 12:51

Ahh, is this because of your mother MI?
It's hideous, but straightforward (ish) when we've done it!

herbaceous · 28/06/2014 13:12

A friend of mine flew to India, without realising she needed a visa. She had to get the next plane home, without even leaving the terminal building.

addle · 28/06/2014 13:48

Hello all ... urgh but suspect don't feel as awful as I should. good to meet you WAF, was a great time overall. Except for that last bottle. It's always the last bottle. Glad everyone got home ok.

NU - micro NU sounds lovely - many congratulations

bigTillyMint · 28/06/2014 13:58

Now at the outlawsa after a fairly stressful time getting teen DD out of the house. And after I got an FB message from my ex out of the blueShock I suspect he may have spotted me last night.

Blackduck · 28/06/2014 14:49

Herbs - whoops!!

BTM sorry to hear about stressy teen. Here rain has finally stopped.

originalpiratematerial · 28/06/2014 15:15

BTM sympathies - teen issues are hard.

My older two are away on a church weekend trip to the Essex coast - Bradwell-on-Sea - it really is the back of beyond. They love it. DS3 had playgroup this morning. I went and did 10k Race for Life which was brilliant - really moving and I got some personal best times.

bigTillyMint · 28/06/2014 15:25

She was just doing her usual go-slow when getting up/ready, but I take this into account and wake her in time. DH didn'tWink

Well done on RFL - I really ought to set myself another challenge, but running's not really my thing!

CointreauVersial · 28/06/2014 15:45

I was feeling fairly bright this morning, but I can't believe we left MrsS in charge of a bottle of wine. Grin I'm currently taking a brief tea-break from BBQ preparations: halloumi kebabs, chicken and salads prepared, gourmet bangers procured at vast expense from ye olde village butcher; just burgers to rustle up. We will eat indoors, while waving merrily at DH who will be huddled outside in the pouring rain tending the coals.

In other news, my new knockers are fully operational. Wink And we didn't come to blows (much). Mattress arrived safely last night, and the old one is already at the tip.

Rosebag · 28/06/2014 15:46

So glad the meet up was a success!

NU the new little DGS sounds like a bundle of gorgeousness. I hope he is continuing to do well.

Auriga the singing sounds like it was beautiful and I'm sorry for the loss of your friend.

OPM well done indeed on your Race. I'm still feeling emotional about the one I did a few weeks ago. Soon we are having the launch of the legacy fund started in the name of the friend we ran for.

Tilly I am about to try and round everyone up to get their sorry arses round to my DParents for tea. They will dilly and dally and it's a given that we will be late and I will shout at everyone. DH has just been dispatched to buy a suitable offering so we don't turn up with nothing. I just said go to Marks and get some nice fruit and a couple of bags of kettle Chips. How much do you want to bet the phone will go in a moment or two...bloody checking that the grapes are the right colour or some such pathetic nonsense. Happy families, anyone? Angry

CointreauVersial · 28/06/2014 15:48

Forgot to say, Auriga, it sounds like you gave your friend the send-off she deserved. It must have required some serious focus singing through it all, so I'm not surprised you were wrung out by the end. Thanks

Rosebag · 28/06/2014 15:48

Ps DS is however soothing my soul and playing Chopin interspersed with oh happy day and BoRap so Ill forgive him for being a teenage mutant beast...

Blackduck · 28/06/2014 16:46

Read this and thought of all of those of you with teens...

hattymattie · 28/06/2014 17:05

Home from the boot sale and have just totted up. We made:
£152 ( CLII cestertes) SmileSmileSmile
Delighted . Anything leftover was given to Cancer Focus, who exchanged it for a big box of books for our book sale next Saturday.
Dd is delighted and she and her BF were brilliant after some encouragement ( isn't it great when kids get past the awkward mortified stateBlush) I was chatting away to everyone and lots of lovely folk donated a few quid here and there when dd told them about the Ghana music school.
Right , off to shower ( filthy after touching all the tat) and then make a big hot spicy veg and cashew noodle broth.
Same again next Saturday . So far have raised £410 (CDX) yay

bigTillyMint · 28/06/2014 17:16

Be you soon, BDWink

DC are currently chillin on the sofa with DHs brother and teasing him about his lack of FB and app knowledgeSmile DS is now taller than his grandad (who is taller than DH)Shock

cremolafoam · 28/06/2014 17:17

bigTillyMint · 28/06/2014 17:20
