Yes I think at VB prices I want the real deal. The actual designer. I know it's her brand, but it's not quite the same for me.

I do like the look in general, and the bags look good. I liked a yellow tote. Yes the clean lines and solid colours.

MarshaBrady · 04/06/2014 20:09

Love the glasses Mara

Thanks re jumper. I was really struggling, but it turns out I was on the wrong floor Wink. Then my blinking phone went dead. That is so annoying when doing the shopping thing!

hamptoncourt · 04/06/2014 20:18

mara those are great sunnies. I have these Tom Ford sunnies on order from the US and cannot wait for them to arrive.

The Lands End cardi I ordered came today and is a lovely cherry red and really good quality cotton for the price.

MarshaBrady · 04/06/2014 20:28

Meant to say fabulous dress Hampton!

Drywhiteplease · 04/06/2014 20:30

Hampton is it very fitted? I'm desperate for a fitted red cardigan.

I adore a dress and love VB dresses apart from the hideous pale blue, quilted. Volume dress she did last season . If I had the lifestyle and budget I'd love one, but would prefer a Roland Mouret .

LinusDKD · 04/06/2014 20:35

Lovely sunglasses mara! Unfortunately TF sunglasses don't suit me but not many brands do.

Cherry red hampton? Off to look at Lands End.

Fedupnagging · 04/06/2014 21:32

Yes, I am always surprised when some designer clothes and bags use man made fabrics. I feel at that price they should be cotton, silk, leather etc. maybe the man made stuff is particularly good quality?

I need some help, styling these trousers. I bought them ages ago and had them taken up so can't return. Unfortunately, they are not at all flattering around my stomach so the navy top I intended to wear is out. I have worn them once with a white 3/4 sleeve tunic/blouse which is hip length but would like something else. Ladies, your help is needed.....

QueenCadbury · 04/06/2014 22:15

fedup are you on pin? Have you done a yellow trousers search?

dry I have a lands end cardi in their smallest size and tbh it's too big. It was my much sought after emerald though so I still wear it lots.

We seem to have a wet leaking roof in the study. This house is a money pit. Sigh.

shopafrolic · 05/06/2014 08:28

Fedup here's how French Connection styled them
I think because they are high waisted things need to be tucked in ideally - not sure what to suggest.
Morning all - carpet cleaners coming today - another glamorous day in Shop's world!

Morning.

Shop on the bright side someone else is doing it. [wonk]

I'm in my favourite cafe, double espresso. Sun is shining. New brief later, just as I finish other one. I can handle that pace and freedom.

Wearing new P Lim jumper, I do love it with the orange Celine bag. Almost clashes nicely. It's a good sign I think when you wear something straight away.

QueenCadbury · 05/06/2014 08:37

Sun shining here too. Poor ds still unwell so off to the GP today to check him out. This is day 3 off school so hoping he gets better soon. On the bright side I had more sleep so I'm wearing proper clothes today!

Secret I think it's my number one rule, if I think oh maybe I'll wear it later not now it's out. Well unless it's a cocktail dress, but then I had better reach for it for the first do.

QueenC oh no hope ds is better soon.

Ha at wonk, wink obvs

Stokey · 05/06/2014 09:25

Great jumper Marsha. I didn't make it to Libertys in the end, it was too cold & miserable so I just hid on the 5th floor in Waterstones with a book instead -cosy.

If anyone is looking for non-designer sunnies, & Other Stories have got a good selection.

Fedup I think having something tucked in would draw attention to your stomach. What about a blouse or shell top not tucked in with some heels? Or a top that has an elasticated bottom, like a sweatshirt, so it would be a bit longer?

The guy who sits opposite me at work is obsessed with nutrition and has just given me a book called Carbophobia about how ineffective Atkins style and low-carb diets are. Slightly blowing my mind as it goes against everything I thought I knew about food.

Sleepwhenidie · 05/06/2014 09:54

Jumper is lovely Marsha, very you.

Stokey in what way is the book blowing your mind Smile?

Stokey · 05/06/2014 10:26

Sleep It is going against all the low-carb advice out there.
Basically he argues that so long as you eat simple carbs rather than complex carbs, you can eat as much as you like. So he advocates a vegetarian diet, eating lots of fruit, vegetables and pulses but also grains and potatoes.

To be honest, cutting out fruit is always something I would struggle with when low-carbing, and I've been largely veggie for most of my life so the whole Atkins meat thing never made much sense. Have only just started it so will report back, but there are lots of videos on his website nutritionfacts.org/

AmberNectarine · 05/06/2014 11:19

I just cannot do low carb and exercise 4-5 times a week - I just feel weak. I do have very, very low blood pressure though and am told to keep my sugar intake at a reasonable level. I don't have a huge amount in any diet that cuts out a food group to be honest (unless that food group is junk Wink )

Have just been for a run and done some strength training so I'm off the hook for the day. Have a child-free afternoon with DH so we are off out to lunch - must get dressed!

Sleepwhenidie · 05/06/2014 11:23

That's pretty much how I advise clients to eat, stay away from sugar, processed food and white carbs, prioritise protein, lots of veg and good fat and, food intolerances aside, things should all be good Smile.

QueenCadbury · 05/06/2014 11:41

squirrel what did you say...?
stokey I kind of low carb but I only cut out bread/pasta/rice. I cut it out as I developed IBS type symptoms with them after. They definitely help keep my weight/bloating down though. I'm a sucker for fresh bread though. Even on a non sugar diet I haven't given up fruit either. I personally think the important things are giving up processed stuff.

Ds has tonsillitis bless him, but at least on antibiotics now.

shopafrolic · 05/06/2014 12:02

Ouch - hope DS gets better soon QueenC - get the ice cream out!
I seem to have just ordered a dress, vest top and heels from the Outnet.....
The first three Pins here
Not sure about the heels but I need some classic black courts so we'll see....Thought the dress would be good slung over a bikini.

I love the JP black mini Shop

bettykt · 05/06/2014 14:31

Shop love the heels, tank and mini dress, just the type of things I would wear

QueenC hope your ds is well soon, I've basically cut back on white carbs and I feel so much better and look at loss less bloated. I've also upped my water intake and don't need to rely on caffeine as much. Never thought I'd break my caffeine addiction.

Marsha glad you're enjoying your new jumper, that is a good sign when you wear something straightaway.

Fedup as a plain boring dresser I would wear the trousers with a plain white t tucked in with a white jacket on top. Or with this top Are they for going out or work or daytime casual?

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 05/06/2014 15:03

Hi all

Sandals have gone back, thank goodness for American customer service! I am doomed this year to never buy a pair of shoes I think, first Aldo and now this.

fedup what about a longish (well normal length) shell type top like Warehouse or Whistles, to cover the top part of the trousers? I think cream or navy would look lovely.

shop those are very sexy heels! And very high too, I couldn't walk in them. I always wonder if there is a correlation between foot size and comfortable heel height, as surely the foot has to stretch a bit underneath (eww) and a longer foot can stretch more.

Fedupnagging · 05/06/2014 16:07

Thanks for the advice - yes they definitely look better with heels and no way am I tucking anything in! Like both the tops Blair. The warehouse one would look like a dress on me though! The model is 5'10 and I'm 5'. The whistles one would be great in navy.

Am wondering about this and/or this.

Will apply myself to surfing later I think.

OneLittleLady · 05/06/2014 16:15

afternoon all. Actually dressed today as the pain has calmed a little. Mid blue denim skirt and grey and pink my little pony tee. Leopard print flat peep toes to complete!

Dp has his new contract now so it's all become rather real. Seems I'll be spending a lot of time on trains soon! There's so much of London I've yet to see so it's both exciting and nerve wracking.

I finally braved trying on a bikini and to my surprise, it looked ok. I think I might be able to brave it in the private pool we'll have in florida. Dp liked it anyway and said it looked nice. Smile
