ooh Thanks Soyo!

shopafrolic · 18/06/2014 12:36

Welcome back SoYo I've used Clarins self tan before with no issues - just exfoliate and moisturise first....

shopafrolic · 18/06/2014 12:39

Thanks Stokey I had seen those and umm-ed and ah-ed and now they are OOS in my size.
Sleep no idea on cashmere but wanted to say poor you - it's always the favourite things!

Thanks Shop, the one I got is called "delectable self tanning mousse" (SPF15) and it is supposed to be good for face and body.
Assuming all goes well with the first application...in your experience do you then re-apply every week or more often or is it better to wait till the first lot of fake tan fades completely before reapplying.

santamarianovella · 18/06/2014 12:48

shop how about Copenhagen? If there was a city specifically designed with kids in mind it has to be it,lots of great activities, great playgrounds, parks, aquarium, open air museum, and Viking village, we took DSS when he was 4.5 and he absolutely loved it,we didnt even do half of the things we planed to do as we ended up going twice to the Viking village,
Or paris? Its great for short stays, the dcs love going there, lovely parks ( bios de Boulogne, parc villette, jardan de luxembourg)all fab for kids, I personally prefer them to the joke that is Disney, the cite des enfants in the science museum, or the musee d'orsay is great too,we bought a small guide for the dc were the go around the museum trying to spot things like the big polar bear sculpture and the big clock , baby in cradle in one paintings ...etc ,and its so much fun for grown ups tooSmile pm if you need any recommendation for both,

sleep I would take it to Jeeves,I really like that Duffy sweaterSad

cartoon welcome ,

Love the swimsuit soyyo

shopafrolic · 18/06/2014 12:58

SoyYo I don't frequently self tan so not sure - lots of the other ladies on here do I think so I'm sure someone can help
Santa we want to avoid a city now we have the cash and go for a spa resort so we can have relaxing treatments and DS can play on the beach / in the pool. Will bear those in mind for another time though Thanks

Shop I was going to say Amsterdam (because of the Science Museum for kids, the cycling, the coast never far away) but I am probably biased because I lived in NL for a few years (Alkmaar) when DC's were young and still miss it...

Have you thought of Edinburgh? Not sure how old your DC's are but if school age the castle, St Mary's passage (creepy but fun) and the Toy Museum are lovely places to visit, plus great shopping in town.
Also the Zoo, and plenty of other museums to keep children amused. AND if you coincide with the August Festival there is always something going on in the streets, plays, etc.
Again probably biased as this is DH's hometown but worth a thought as somewhere people dont think about often and great for a short break.

SoyYo · 18/06/2014 13:10

Thanks Shop will experiment with self tan and report back.
I have family in Spain (Barcelona/Alicante/Valencia) and many friends in Andalucia. In case you didnt guess my first language is not English...could ask them for recommendations on spa breaks there if you want guaranteed sunshine during your break.

Maybe too far afield but have heard that the Dead Sea (Israel) Spa resorts are the best ever...DS might find covering himself in dead sea mud quite fun! Grin Was told it is very safe and lovely by a colleague who recently visited.

shopafrolic · 18/06/2014 13:16

SoYo my uncle lives in Edinburgh and my DB in the Netherlands! So I love both.
We're still waiting for DH' company to confirm the cash amount and how / when we book. As soon as I know more I'll let you know. Spain would be good, probably Oct half term but it depends what the company wants.....

OMG arrrgh. I came home after my meeting for DHL, then got into work mode and FORGOT that it was coming and went to Sainsbury's for stuff and IT FRICKING CAME whilst I was out. I am in meetings every day until Tuesday. Third time lucky

ARGH

MarshaBrady · 18/06/2014 13:26

What was I thinking. Oh I know I need some artichokes in olive oil. Wth

Annianni · 18/06/2014 13:27

Sleep, I use Ace bleach stain remover on my cashmere.
Sainsburys sell it (big green bottle)

Or I've seen that rubbing neat fairy liquid into the stain is supposed to work.

If all else fails, could you dye it?
I dyed a cobalt cashmere sweater last year.
I used a navy colour and it just went a shade or 2 darker (and looked lovely)
You need the handwash dyes for woollens.

shopafrolic · 18/06/2014 13:27

Marsha where are your priorities? Grin

SoyYo · 18/06/2014 13:27

Shop great minds think alike! Wink
PM me if you are interested in Spain options once you know what's what and then will email me scattered collection of family and friends in Spain for recommendations.

shopafrolic · 18/06/2014 13:28

BTW I can thoroughly recommend Liberty's personal shopping service. She called me from the store and has found the camo sweatshirt in the lighter colour way for £26 Thanks

Marsha... How could you forget?!
:o

MarshaBrady · 18/06/2014 13:36

I don't know . HOW could I do that. What possessed me to wander off in the sunshine. I do know that I need to set timers when cooking omelette as I put them on then promptly forget that I have.

I blame work, I am thinking in work mode all day, there is only room for concepts to bounce around. I mean I also have to remember where my children are, and when to get them which is hard Wink

God I am so vague.

MarshaBrady · 18/06/2014 13:36

Vague as in spaced out, thinking about stuff. Rather than just vague. Have a big meeting on Monday, so should pass by then Confused

Sleepwhenidie · 18/06/2014 13:59

Marsha - do you think you might actually be a man, not being so hot on the multitasking and all that GrinWink?

MarshaBrady · 18/06/2014 14:09

Sleep yep! I get it. You know when people say oh what a bugger I told him about getting the milk three times and he didn't. That's me, I have to text, email or alarm everything I do!

Otherwise I forget. Of course sometimes I send exciting shopping lists to the wrong person don't I Shop? Grin

I am double booked this Saturday night, although am in denial about that, need to sort. And have a coffee tomorrow morning with neighbour but remembered I wanted to go into J Crew. I think it's the endless meetings at no set time that has done it to me. If I was just at work, with a nanny I'm sure I'd be ok Wink

Hopefully · 18/06/2014 14:12

Marsha I am the same - I perpetually have about a dozen reminders set on my phone. My best trick is, when baking, putting the cake/biscuits back in 'for one more minute' and coming back to little lumps of charcoal an hour later.

shopafrolic · 18/06/2014 15:07

I do that too Hopefully, and I go upstairs to get something, get sidetracked, and come back down without the thing I went upstairs for. i used to have a brain - I really did.
Marsha it was a wonderful insight into your home life Grin

Just popping in to say shop have friends who have been twice to rocco forte resort in Sicily with young dc. Weather should still be nice in Oct too plus it ticks the spa box.
