Hi all :)

turq hello! The skirt is pinned here. It looks nicer in real life, a bit darker.

dry everyone else has said it better, but I think most if not all teenage girls go through it :( it must be horrible watching from the outside. Unfortunately I did the opposite to Hopefully, and I still agonise about it now and am not really friends with anyone from school now. College was a lot better for me. Being a young teen is a horrible time.

Well done mara and liberty. liberty your DH is wrong, a work skirt is nice but NOT a treat! Wink

Great dress Linus.

Marsha I can't help on the fine jumper but glad the skirt is a keeper.

AmberNectarine · 11/06/2014 13:50

I'm going to order Blair - 8 or 10? :)

Turquoiseblue · 11/06/2014 13:58

I realise how logical this seems, but sometimes logic escapes me for a time, the boom! I had a realisation that I can't buy clothes for holidays that I ll wear at home! I m terrible for when I m shopping for holidays, buying stuff I want for 'real life' and thinking 'i ll wear it on hols' as justification. Then I get to holiday destination and realise it s 'not right' for holiday wear! And spend the hols in a pair of denim shorts and one sundress! So I ve had a sensible chat with myself and picked up some nice light easy holiday stuff - tank tops and sandals oasis, skirt oasis and zara, h and m dress for pool side, a spare bikini (bargain... Will link later when home). I also got a pretty sundress for evenings.

Anyone else do this too? I had to give myself a stern talking to as I almost bought a sandro dress..... That I didn't need and wouldn't have worn in the heat.

Dry hope you and dd feel better this eve.

bettykt · 11/06/2014 14:08

Turq I'm a bit like that, on holiday I envisage myself in floaty dresses, heels and lazing by the pool in a kaftan. The reality is very different Confused I have young dc so will be quite active and will therefore live in shorts, flats and tank tops, I alway pack the wrong things. This year I'm determined to get it right, although I need clothes for beach, mountains and city.

Marsha lovely skirt.

Linus I like that dress, pink would be more my colour, bet it looks great on.

Blair great skirt, very chic and stylish.

Turquoiseblue · 11/06/2014 15:28

Lovely skirt Blair. I got a similar one in winter sales. Haven't worn it in summer tho. Not sure I can work it into a summer wardrobe but can't wait to take it out for winter.

Turquoiseblue · 11/06/2014 15:29

Betty, Beach mountains and city - there isn't enough luggage allowance fr what I could pack for that.... Would need to charter a private jetWink

Turquoiseblue · 11/06/2014 15:34

Linus love the blue of that dress. Glad you like the Cand P skirt. Would be a bit nervous of the fine jumper but I do love it too. Only for non dc occasions ?

shopafrolic · 11/06/2014 16:00

Oh no Marsha - I thought that jumper would be perfect, you're definitely asking for trouble if it is see-through Grin
What did you want it for? Work or play?
I accidentally ordered this this morning. Thought it would be good with skinnies and heels on a night out. Sleep do you have it / did you try it? Or am I imagining that?

Stokey · 11/06/2014 16:03

Marsha I bought a very fine Marant cashmere tee in the winter sales - afraid to say it has got snagged, no idea where or how but I am not the most careful of people. It was a sales buy so not too expensive, but I probably wouldn't buy something that thin again.

I try not to buy anything that I think oh I can wear it on this specific occasion... but sometimes fail

Summer wear I do find myself reaching for comfort clothes I've had for a long time. I have a calf-length urban outfitters dropwaisted dress with lace straps that i bought at least 8 years ago and is the perfect summer throw-on. And today am wearing a H&M floral shirt and green skirt knee-length linen-esque skirt that are also older than my children Grin

Stokey · 11/06/2014 16:06

Gorgeous top Shop love the colour

capet · 11/06/2014 16:16

I was shamelessly lurking over here , having a nosey at some of your fab buys and now I want that leather skirt too!
Is it lovely in real life? I'm not generally a huge river island fan.
How are you planning on wearing it?
Looking at this thread is bad for my bank balance. Aagghh

MarshaBrady · 11/06/2014 16:43

Mine too Capet, welcome Smile

Love that top Shop.

Stokey thanks for info. It is ultra delicate. Looks ok with a t underneath to stop the show through. Will ponder.

Annianni · 11/06/2014 17:09

I don't think you're a dangly jewellery type (which could catch the threads) Marsha so you should be ok with the jumper.

Just beware if any of your dc's coats have velcro on the front
I've trashed things through giving cuddles.

Welcome Capet, are you on pin?

shopafrolic · 11/06/2014 17:11

Welcome Capet. Stick around, I was only just saying to Marsha on PM that I was considering selling a kidney!
The Outnet black James Perse has arrived and is fab.

QueenCadbury · 11/06/2014 17:23

Just popping in before I clean up my tip of a kitchen ( exactly how do 3 kids make so much mess at tea time?). For those of you ordering the river island skirt there's a code in grazia. amber I assume you have it?

Topazandpearl · 11/06/2014 17:30

So sorry to hear about your DD's troubles Dry. Girls are the worst for it being either best friends or mortal enemies and nothing in between. It is horrible. Some girls need to have someone to pick on to make themselves feel better about whatever insecurities they have. (Often jealousy is the root.) And of course they love the drama of it all. It is horrible for the one who is currently deemed to be the outsider. It is true that boys don't seem to do this.

I recently read about this book, which, if it persists, might help your DD to see that she is not alone experiencing this (although I don't think I'd necessarily recommend her following the author's chosen strategies!)

Lots of lovely links as usual.

MarshaBrady · 11/06/2014 17:43

Oh I know Anni, these days having to pick up ds before work on my freshly ironed shirts, let alone delicate as anything cashmere silk, makes me nervous. I definitely wouldn't wear it anywhere near the dc when I'm at home.

Good one Shop I got my days mixed up, grr, my stuff will be here tomorrow but I won't.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 11/06/2014 17:45

Ugh sorry Amber hectic afternoon. Bloody work eh! I think you would be an 8... I'm a solid 10 and the 10 is not skintight on me.

Fedupnagging · 11/06/2014 17:46

So sorry you Dd is having friendship problems Dry. Think she is a similar age to my dniece who is also having problems; it's heartbreaking but at least she is talking to you and you can offer support. If it gets really bad at school you could always have a word with the pastoral support team.

Turq you are so right re holiday clothes. When it is v hot, all I want to wear is cotton dresses and maybe linen trousers and loose tops in the evening. This year we need to pack for 3 weeks in hotels doing a variety of things. My brain hurts just thinking about it although dh and ds's will be easy!

I saw that VB top on Outnet Shop and thought it looked great - a good style for me but wrong colour. Hope you like it.

Hi Capet.

shopafrolic · 11/06/2014 17:46

Shock Marsha

maradesbois · 11/06/2014 18:16

Hi capet. I love blair's leather skirt too and amazing price. Would have ordered it too but no 12s left.

linus love that asos dress too. Am in a copying mood so may nab it for myself for holidays. Mmf are my big bugbear but as long as the arms are open I don't mind & another great price.

turq you are so right re holiday wardrobe. I still bring a ton of dressy evening things that would have used pre dc when staying in hotel and regularly out until the early hours but need to focus rather on good basics and throw ons. Lots of my summer stuff is years old too and still looks good. Found my old silk Pucci skirt at back of wardrobe yesterday. Is about 10 years old and wouldn't fit over my hips but if my current fitness regime pans out it could be a contender for the mu!

Drywhiteplease · 11/06/2014 18:28

Sitting here with my G + T more G than T because the T has almost run out reading your supportive comments. I really do appreciate it. I am lucky that dd will confide in me.

Right:
Blair blue leather skirt is fab Amber you have to get it
Linus I love any dress that has just one shoulder, v sexy.
Shop great top! my FC silk is same colour but sadly not the same style.
Capet love it when a lurker de lurks ...hellooooo
Topaz that book looks good.

Bought myself this today. I'm more of a gold person. Like that matt gold. The only think is gold costume jewellery always tarnished Sad need the real stuff Wink also tried this looked terrible! I don't suit drop waists and am too short! looked like a sack although a lovely dress on a taller person. I swooned over a bag which I won't link just yet Wink

And Novice I thought of you when I went to my fav jewellers to pick up my ring that was being fixed and valued for house insurance review. Boy does bling appreciate Shock and I had a lovely time with the v nice sales man talking about Limoges dinner service, I've smashed 2 plates and trying on a very lovely 'spectacle set' diamond necklace will try to find a link as you do on a Sunny WEd afternoon Grin....he said "I'll let MrDry know" ER you can try matey Grin

Drywhiteplease · 11/06/2014 18:33

spectacle set but in yellow gold.....very me! very lovely......there was also a tiara but I thought that was just ostentatious Grin

Hopefully · 11/06/2014 18:48

Very pretty Dry. Although you totally should have tried the tiara Grin.

Shop glad the JP is good.

Am off to buy running shoes tomorrow. Am looking forward to NAP sale and maybe buying something vaguely interesting for once.

OneLittleLady · 11/06/2014 19:04
