Let's talk workwear. Maybe a little bit of non workwear fashion chat, too.

My blog is at theworkwearedit.com but our chat goes above and beyond that.

noddyholder · 21/06/2014 08:19

I can't do biker apart from an old one I have mates mums wear them Mary berry has one and I fear the jane McDonald look. Boucle good for me too have an old black Chanel one favourite.

noddyholder · 21/06/2014 08:21

noddyholder · 21/06/2014 08:44

The bershka snake neon stiletto are a tenner in sale Comfortable

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/06/2014 08:57

Ta re shoe links. Office link doesn't work, but the grey ones I don't like, and the Matalan ones I think are plastic - I want leather, or maybe suede if black.

I love biker jackets - I wish I had a hundred of them.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/06/2014 08:58

Saw the film of myself yesterday btw - I look like a very crazy raven.

noddyholder · 21/06/2014 09:00

I wish I suited them in a Kate moss louche way but I don't wrong shape They need to hang I fear I am stuffed into them

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/06/2014 09:13

I 'think' they suit me, but if not, I don't care! I tend to buy them fairly tight across the back, and obvs they stay open not fastened!

I have one leather one and three fabric ones and wear them so much.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 21/06/2014 09:17

remus - I've not seen myself on film, but I'm pretty expressive / animated, so think I would need to be as still as poss to look ok on film. Watch someone on film you like / look similar to and observe how they talk / move etc? My theory is that being composed / still is what comes across best? Not frozen, but poised. Bet you did actually look good, btw, I doubt you were being objective?

My son is a film student I hate seeing film of myself I freeze

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/06/2014 09:29

I am very bad at being still! Tbh it wouldn't have been possible for me to do my job and be still anyway. At least I looked like a fairly slim crazy raven, with lipstick on! Grin

Brillenbar · 21/06/2014 09:47

Re zara orange jacket. Definitely need to be flat chested for I because of the neckline. Luckily I am truly blessed in that department.

I agree that you need to be careful not to channel Annika in the colarless tweedy jacket. But the zara one is a lovely navy and black combo which I think looks v fresh. And being flat chested I think I'm less likely to look Tory wife and more likely to look a bit Isabel marant. At least, that's what I'm telling myself!

noddyholder · 21/06/2014 09:50

Agree flat chested best for most of those jackets . Even a biker can look Tory wife see Christine Hamilton although I fear she does the full leather trousers combo! I need things that skim. Or just a random lucky fit. I have one unstructured navy blazer type and it is ok ish. The short military one from Zara has been my best for summer

Littlepinkpear · 21/06/2014 11:08

Remus I can confirm Matalan shoes are not suede or leather. But they go brilliantly with some cotton baggy printed trousers I have.

Oh to have a whistles for every purchase budget. Actually I probably could stretch but I would live in fear of wearing any of it to work (big factory) or around two kids.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/06/2014 14:23

YY re oh for a Whistles budget. I've got my eye on this which is absolutely beautiful irl, but I just can't justify it - and my other Whistles biker, which I love, has bobbled horribly.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/06/2014 14:26

Oh and somebody mentioned some Sally Hansen stuff for legs - what is it? Fake tan? I am very, very pale.

lurkingaround · 21/06/2014 15:12

My Zara jacket (like Belinda's and ?Brillen) hasn't arrived yet. I am not flat chested (28 or 30 F-G) but I'm hopeful it'll suit. I don't think I look Christine Hamilton in my other jackets or bikery ones. Perish the thought. Couldn't be having that. Will examine closely again. No sign of the Mango one, but I expect that'll be here approx oh I expect September. Love the above jackets.

Sally Hansen is messy spray tan stuff for legs. It really is leg make up. I put on moisturiser, then Sally, and rub rub rub it in. Some use a mitt. I don't as I lose mitts. I know, how? So I don't have milk bottle like legs with attractive thread veins. Somehow or other it's better than fake tan, and still looks v natural. Lasts all day. I use medium. The light is very light, my red headed whiter-than-white friend uses that. It washes off with soap and water.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/06/2014 15:20

Thanks Lurking. Don't think I fancy lots of messy rubbing in tbh - think I'll stay white! :)

lurkingaround · 21/06/2014 15:27

Ach, in fairness Remus, it's not difficult to use, I sold it rather badly. Put it on like moisturiser. But i agree with you, it is another job to do in the morning.
Love your Whistles jacket, but only a size 14 left.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/06/2014 15:30

Cheers, Lurking. I went out today with my bare legs out in a mini skirt and nobody ran screaming, so... Grin

enormouse · 21/06/2014 16:01

Would the Sally Hansen stuff work on evening out skintone, as opposed to tanning?

I have a load of ezcema scars that I want to hide but I don't need to tan.

lurkingaround · 21/06/2014 16:23

Oh yes, Sally Hansen is perfect for that enormouse, because it's like a light foundation. Buy the closest to your skin tone colour. Evens out little imperfections really well.

NumptyNu · 21/06/2014 17:10

How so the sizes come up in Zara? What would you say is the equivalent for an 8/10?

Very interested in the short jacket idea, being petite....
