Let's talk workwear. Maybe a little bit of non workwear fashion chat, too.

My blog is at theworkwearedit.com but our chat goes above and beyond that.

The jacket I bought is the same one as Belinda linked this one. Wasn't really reduced much but it was better than paying full price! Have also ordered this in neutral from Mango. I'm a bit unsure about the Mango jacket. Will report back.

Brillenbar · 19/06/2014 22:53

Maybe we should do a poll of how many of us have bought things Belinda has linked to. I confess to the navy zara jacket and the orangey red one. And a pair of shoes. And a skirt. And an orange handbag. And the blue lk bennett heels they are so lovely but going back so they don't count!

Littlepinkpear · 20/06/2014 08:34

Mango have now reduced everything, including all of the fab trews Belinda has on her blog.

I have ordered the blazer and this for my hols

Ha, Brillenbar, I've been purchasing, too, but will be putting the brakes on. It does sound like you have made wise purchases, though, and hopefully you are enjoying your office outfits more, as a result. The LKB bLue Florets are so gorgeous, but if they aren't right, you really do have to be ruthless and return them, don't you!?

pinkpear - Mango has some fab weekend / holiday wear at the moment. They have really gotten into the boho style, Marant for less. As have H&M. It's always a mission to sift through the tat (Mango have too much stock, IMO), but I love some of the things you can buy there.

I'm going to do a post today, including mentioning Queen Letizia of Spain, who has beautiful taste, and is often seen in Mango pieces.

enormouse · 20/06/2014 12:28

Belinda I did a double take at queen letizia. I thought that Juan carlos had died. I love her too from when I did a level spanish years ago. The Spanish monarchy seems pretty progressive in comparison to ours.

My suit has arrived from next. Grey skirt suit but I'm going to have to get the skirt shortened. I ordered shirts from h and m to wear with it but am banking on them never turning up. Where's the best place to get shirts? in case I have to do a mad dash to get some

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 20/06/2014 13:41

I like the Uniqlo broadcloth shirts (I take size S) and also TM Lewin slim fit ones (I take size 10 in case that helps).

OP posts:
Littlepinkpear · 20/06/2014 14:23

Mango would be better without the tat(there is a lot of it too).

I have ordered a couple of Marant-a-like tops too. Hopefully they are nice, it's hard to tell online.

The Glasgow Buchanan Gallaries store is one of the better ones. Good stuff at the front, tat at the back. I find the staff have done the hard work for me!

Littlepinkpear · 20/06/2014 14:24

Yes TM Lewin for shirts or I have some nice ones from banana republic petite if they are any quicker with delivery.

www.zara.com/uk/en/sale/woman/stock-clearance/shoes/strappy-high-heel-leather-sandal-c555516p1699062.html really don't need more shoes but love these

noddyholder · 20/06/2014 14:33

www.zara.com/uk/en/collection-aw14/woman/outerwear/unstructured-jacket-with-pockets-c269184p2025526.html love this too am not a blazer person so nice to see this sort of shape

maybemyrtle · 20/06/2014 15:36

Love those sandals, too high for me but they look great.

Just back from the shops. I purchased this skirt from Mango. I never buy polyester ordinarily but it's so very flattering on the hips, a lovely just-below-the-knee length and only £14.99. One q though - it's that neopreney fabric and 93% polyester (!!!) but apparently can't be washed. Really?! Is there something special about neoprene?

In Zara I bought this top which is the most fab colour. I also bought some ankle length trousers that I can't find on the website. They're navy blue with a small print, and I like them on but not sure how to wear them. I tend towards plain skirts/trousers and can't get my head around what to wear on top with them. They're navy so black (which I have lots of) isn't right. Any ideas before they go back??

NumptyNu · 20/06/2014 17:18

Not always brill for work gear, but Boden have 40% off 'favourites' for next 4 days.....

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/06/2014 17:38

Lovely day today. How do people feel about bare legs at work? I wore nude tights and was boiling.

Also, I need some flat black or tan shoes - ideally like this but much cheaper. Anybody seen anything?

lurkingaround · 20/06/2014 18:19

Oh they are lovely Remus. Quite pricey. Would anything like this from Office work? Zara shoes gorgeous. Prob too high for me too. Would love a similar pair but not quite so high. Jeez. That sounds pathetic.

I wore no tights Sally Hansen to work today. We don't really have a dress code tho. My legs feel a bit 'dressed' with Sally on. Too hot for tights.

lurkingaround · 20/06/2014 18:43

Slightly over budget, not even your brief really, nice tho? I am easily distracted.

Littlepinkpear · 20/06/2014 21:14

Remus, I think as long as they are not dry, blotchy and hairy then fine. Not with a shorter than knee length skirt though.

How about these shoes?

www.matalan.co.uk/womens/footwear/flats/s2565238/pointed-flat-pumps they come in bright blue also, which I have but they have white soles.

I love the Whistles ones - I was looking at them online the other day but too expensive for what they are IMHO.

RonaldMcDonald · 20/06/2014 21:31

love that Zara jacket noddy
will purchase

noddyholder · 20/06/2014 21:57

Me too Ronald they had it in pink for summer I tried it on and so stylish and elegant

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 20/06/2014 22:04

myrtle - re the skirt, I would google whether you can wash such a fabric. That's how I learnt that I could wash my sofa covers, despite the label saying no. I love that dark turquoise silk top you bought from Zara. I saw it today and thought it really nice. Re your printed navy trousers, how about a plain white shirt? This skirt looks good with a plain white top (although the shape is quite, umm, dramatic) and bag or shoes in one of the colours of the print?

Remus - I always did bare legs, except if it was too cold. A little fake tan (less is more) and always hair free.

My zara navy black knitted jacket arrived yesterday. Seriously impressed with their delivery 24 hours in sale time! It is very lovely perfect combination of black and navy. A little bit sparkly but subtle so I think still okay for my conservative work place.

So I now have 3 zara jackets, the navy black one, the orangey red one, and a white short one with collar that isn't in the sale. I think they're all great. Wore the white one yesterday with black crops, black dorsay heels, and my orange handbag. Am very chuffed with that outfit. Wore the orangey red one the day before and was complimented by the too cool for school male assistant in Reiss, managed not to be all "ooh young man!"

for the petite amongst us I think zara short jackets, with cropped sleeves, are a bit of a find.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 21/06/2014 07:31

Brillenbar - I am loving the sound of your outfits!! I totally agree with how good some of the Zara jackets are for petite women. My black and navy Zara jacket came, too, but I haven't opened it yet. I know how good it is, though, as I tried it on a while ago. I think it will be one of those things you get lots of wear out of, as it's perfect smart weekend wear, too. I really wanted the orangey one but it doesn't look good on me. I need to do a post on what I tried on at Zara last week, but the orange one is too shaped for me, I think. So annoying as I really want an orange cotton blazer.

OP posts:
BelindaAllWorkedOut · 21/06/2014 07:51

Actually, with a less fitted top, it might look better on me. Oooh, I will need to go and revisit this blazer, I think.

Certainly, it's perfect for women looking to create the illusion of curves and the tailoring is quite luxe for the price.
