Yes, I thought I was some sort of autumn so it's exciting being told that I can wear bright colours.
I'm planning a shopping trip this week to investigate the likes of Hobbs and House of Fraser as well as keeping an eye on Ebay. I'm terrible at choosing the right shape (I veer towards shapeless items; dh is thrilled that I've been told I look better in fitted stuff!) and I think it will take me a while to develop any kind of eye for what's good the minute I step into a shop.

I did see a nice clear pink scarf in LK Bennett the other day and a bright pumpkin one in White Stuff (the only Spring item in the shop!) - would either of those work for you?

I was most surprised to find out that I was quite "warm". I always thought I was a Winter. The consultant told me I'm on the cool end of the Spring spectrum, so I am veering towards jewel shades, but I should still keep them bright.

Pink wasn't my best colour, better away form my face. I want a big print, thats the trouble more than the colour I think. although I bought a beautiful silk one today, big blue splodges on a beige background, but tonight it definitely looks 'cool'. Sigh, its just so difficult!

I love the bright clear colours too, even if they are difficult to find! Hoping we all find it much easier come next March.

Can I join in? I had my colours done last week and am a warm spring.

About to spend a fortune with kettlewell as I know it works and am rubbish at spotting colours otherwise.

welcome wohmum! I'm a warm spring too and, after much trawling of shops in town and online, found that these places have some lovely colours for us:

Joules - for kerry green and light navy
Boden - for tomato red
Hobbs - one or two pumpkin items
Woolover.co.uk and Lands End - for winter white and turquoise

Smile

Welcome wohmum. Good luck with Kettlewell, I ordered 2 tops from them, both going back as looked very frumpy on me.

I've just ordered a Hobbs skirt bottersnikes, hoping its the right sort of purple. Mainly its not just about the colour though, its the style. I can't find any shortish warm work jackets that fit my romantic style. Everything seems pointy/boxy. Boden have 25% off until Friday.

Hi everyone Smile
Great, we're up & running again!

Good luck, Beginner, how exciting!

Mumelie, it was the same with me, DH was definitely against number 2 & no budging him, sadly.

Hi Tobybox. You're best colours are exactly like mine, Blue Spring as well.
I've been trying though to not buy everything blue......again.
Just bought a few things in M&S sale, blue & navy T shirts ( I'm doing well avoiding blue eh? Confused & a lime green fine lambs wool sweater which I can't find on the website to link to. I wasn't sure about the colour, though it is just like one of the swatches, but it looks surprisingly good so will make a change from the blues.

Going mad!
Please ignore anything weird in last post. It's been so long since there's been the spring thread I read the first page, thought it was new & answered that Confused
Great to see some new Springs Smile You did well to find the thread, Cilla, thought it had hit lost in the ether.

I've had mixed results with Kettlewell. Some are good, some can be a bit odd but at least the colours are right. The fit tends to be on the small side.

Hi I'm a blue Springer. Enjoying reviewing online but not buying much right now. Good to see the nice bright colours back in the shops after the Winter darkness

Hello fellow blue spring. Yes lots of gorgeous colours around, but nothing that jumps out as the right style. So far I have only been online shopping, hoping to make it to the shops soon. I'll be happy with a scarf at the moment, can't find that!

Hello Springs! I was diagnosed by HoC last year. Will have to check my notes, but I'm pretty sure she didn't say I was bright, blue or paintbox, just Spring. I'm also apparently a Natural Gamine.

I'm on board with tan/camel, bright light red and turquoise, but really don't think I can ever see myself in salmon, peach or apricot!

Report
BeginnerSAHM · 16/03/2015 10:48

Oh, is the Spring thread back? Great! I have my DC3 dosing on my chest at the moment.... I culled a lot of my normal clothes when pregnant so could do with some more casual stuff!

I've been ignoring some if the spring advice though... I still don't feel comfortable dressed like a cbeebies presenter/clown so am going to try for the odd colourful splash. Easier in spring/summer! I'm annoyingly quite liking All Saints at the moment which is definitely a more Winter shop. And a bit dramatic. Need to inject a bit more colour into my life though!

Scarves aren't very practical with scrabble babies though, are they?!

And first of my wish list is boyfriend jeans... A bit late to the party, I know, but any suggestions??? Am 5'5'', size 8 on top and 10 on bottom - classic pear I suppose.

I've finished sorting my wardrobe and I'm Shock at just how much black I have Blush

When you all did your wardrobe cull did you ebay stuff or bite the bullet and bin?

Report
RipMacWinkle · 16/03/2015 18:13

Hi I'm a natural gamine too but I know that tan and camel aren't my best (hence blue spring I suppose) The CBeebies thing is a real issue I know but I think it's easier to just add splashes. That said I'm a few years down the road now and I'm definitely braver with colour than I used to be.

I'm also a pear shaped, same sizes as you Beginner, just shorter. I'm also thinking boyfriend jeans. I'm investigating Next petite at the moment

Report
BeginnerSAHM · 16/03/2015 22:17

Ah, so you feel the same re Cbeebies issues Rip Wink. Yes, I can do the odd bright coral sweatshirt or top but cannot do more than one bright colour. Today, for example, I worse a pale grey sweatshirt (last yr Mint Velvet), indigo skinnies and tan biker-ish boots (old now - seen better days!!). I did manage studs which are a bluey/purple semi precious stone and gold surround. (V unusual for me to wear jewellery!). I did not feel particularly lifted or pleased with how I looked but at least I didn't feel frumpy.

Re culling - a mixture of binning and charity shops. I know I'll never get round to ebaying. And I have to say I culled stuff I just don't 'like' or feel confortable in. Quite a bit of 'spring' stuff - too mumsy/Bodeny for me. Although I am middle-aged and a mum of three. Probably frumpy too. (Maybe I'm in denial generally, not just about my bright spring-ness...)

Will check out next boyfriend jeans! Thanks Rip!!

I was in H&M earlier and they have lots of cotton cardigans in spring colours such as watermelon pink, orange, yellow, beige and other light bright shades. £9.99 for plain or £12.99 patterned. I got a yellow and a cream with navy polka dots.

Lipstick is confusing me. I look like a clown in the mirror with my bright Geranium Pink on and always wish I hadn't bothered but any photos come out well. What's that all about?

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 29/03/2015 19:45

I think with bright lipstick that it's a question of getting used to it. It took me ages and now I wouldn't be without it. I could be deluded but I honestly think it looks good on me now.
