Hey girls, here, no change in home situation but loving the support from you all.
Followed advice and bought some great shorts from White Stuff and a coral vest too.

Tobybox..I would wear a springy coloured top and patterned scarf with a spring compliant bag. I wear a lot of navy but always brighten it with a spring scarf as it drains me otherwise. If you don't suit scarves then I would suggest a springy top and a statement necklace.

Yellow being a top colour at the moment, oddly for me I now have a yellow clutch and yellow earrings which add a good lift to navy also. I was unsure about yellow initially but find that as a splash, mixed with other colours it works really well. If it doesn't work for you you could try a bright clutch and scarf in other springy colours. Whistles, for example, has or at least did have, variously sized bright clutches.

Thanks Happy :) unfortunately the suit is a jacket and matching dress. A gold-coloured statement necklace might look good, as I don't ever wear scarves and wouldn't know where to start! Perhaps a gold-coloured belt would look good with the suit too?

Hi tobybox welcome to the thread. I'm another Blue/Bright spring (there are a lot of us about! ).
If I had your navy dress suit I'd put it with a bright spring coloured skinny belt and matching statement necklace (yellow is a great suggestion, or maybe turquoise, coral or a paler colour like shell pink). Its got to be about the contrast. Scarves also good but maybe getting a bit warm to wear all day now (leaving you in just navy) unless a very fine silk one? I love vintage looking ones to add a bit of edge to classic work wear. You can also add colour with your shoes and handbag. Now is the best time to be stocking up on spring shades. You could also wear the suit as seperates - pairing the dress with a bright cropped cardi in one of your ** colours. The jacket could be worn with jeans out of work or a bright patterned pencil skirt? Sounds like a very versatile suit! I'll find you some links to look when I switch my pc on!

Hi Springs.
My Boden Chelsea turn ups arrived and I love them! I ordered the pink (which is more of a pinky coral) in my usual size and they fit perfectly. Thinking about the black now (naughty! ).
Has anyone else tried them yet?

Oh, good, sounds very summery mumelie!

I'm on a shopping pause. Might need to go through my wardrobe to find comfortable loose clothes Wink. Hopefully, all the advice about fitted waists etc. will not apply soon. (Got a positive preg test! Slightly nervous it won't stick though as it's v v early!)

Congratulations Mumelie Grin Grin

I went a bit mad over the weekend and bought these:

//www.asos.com//River-Island/River-Island-Structured-Mini-Skirt/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=4066609

//www.asos.com//Asos/Asos-Fluted-Hem-Pencil-Skirt/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=3976220

//www.asos.com//Asos/Asos-Belted-Pencil-Skirt-In-Longer-Length/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=3468849

The grey skirt looks awesome with my green/turquoisey shirts, but the yellow skirt and the green skirt are baffling Confused I have nothing that will go with them. I'm trying to avoid white.

Maybe a turquoise top again with the yellow? And a cream vest-top with the green? Although I might send the green one back as it's a difficult length to wear and I couldn't wear it with flats :(

Love the skirts by the way. I wear a bright yellow silk shirt with dark denim jeans but not sure what to suggest on top that isn't white (or cream). What shape are you? Can you do a dark colour? If so, a bright navy maybe? Or charcoal grey?

Lol Toby! No worries! V cute skirts btw - love that flutted one in green.

Great you are looking at Spring maternity wear Beginner. I seem to remember I could only wear beige when I was pregnant (do not ask me why)! I looked like death warmed up esp with the bad blonde hair too! You will positively bloom in Spring colours!

Beginner I'm a slim pear. I'm thinking that dark grey might be easier to find than a bright navy - I've had a few frustrating days where all I seem to find in the shops are the darkest, dullest navys!

I think I'll take them out shopping with me at the weekend and try a few tops to go with them.

I'm on the hunt for a big coral & gold-coloured necklace to jazz up my dull tops :)

Oh and I bought a warm brown eyeliner (Barry M) and got rid of my black eyeliners - but am regretting that now, because when tired and at work the brown just turns to an ugly yellowy cast and makes me look jaundiced!

Grey isn't tooo bad but still seems to lack the oomph of the black.

Has anyone else found this? Shame because I imagine a really good brown eyeliner would look really nice :(

Toby I struggle with eyeliner too! I only wear on my top lashes (not winged - eyelids too crepey for that! ). I need a dark brown liquid or gel with a brush - any recommendations? I look ill with grey (which I always used to wear). Bare minerals do a good grey pencil (sorry can't remember what it's called).
As for chunky necklaces - try ebay or Primark. I have ordered a bright yellow one from Boden - yet to arrive.

Thanks Eustacia!

Toby - if you're a slim pear (like me, normally) then best not to do really dark top half with a light yellow top. Just my opinion though! I'd go for a lighter grey. And a statement necklace to liven it up maybe?

My trousers are already leaving button marks Shock. Just bloating but it's uncomfortable. Suppose I'll buy some of those stretchy trouser extender things or something.... Also going to need new bras soon. Clothes shopping is not seeming so fun!

Congratulations Beginner!!!! Now you can shop for lovely maternity clothes. When I was preggers all I could find was acres of black and grey but there seems to be some nice colours about just now.

Hi toby! Ebay is great for chunky necklaces. I had my eye on this: necklace but somebody beat me to it!

I've been really good and resisted the urge to splurge straight away after the style day. I've done the wheel of how you spend your time and decided to start off on the work bit as that's where I spend most of my time unfortunately and that's the area where I'm most lacking clothes as well. I'm on the hunt for a blue or greeny coloured blouse that isn't so see through that it needs a vest underneath. If anybody spots one, throw it my way.

Congratulations Beginner!

Hi everyone. Taken me ages to get back in since the password resets. Numerous emails to no avail, said they had no record of me! So I've had to change my name a bit & re join.

Hi Toby Smile your best colours are virtually identical to mine. Those skirts are lovely. Particularly the green & the grey. I must try to wear skirts more, it's too easy for me to live in jeans in my line of work.

The amount of semi-transparent work shirts around is ridiculous. I have to wear a vest top under every single one of mine, especially because I favour paler colours. I think it's because manufacturers are trying to get away with lower quality and lower production costs.

Report
YouHaveBeenOutbid · 25/04/2014 14:54

It's got to be a cost thing hasn't it? I really don't want to wear a vest under shirts. We don't have proper aircon at work and it gets pretty warm in the summer despite being Scotland Grin

Aque, that long sleeved blue one is a nice style, it's a proper Spring navy isn't it? If I could have that style in the colour of the first one you posted that would be grand! I'm trying to get away from dark colours.

Hello Springs! I am a winter invading for some advice! I went on my style day yesterday and it was suggested I was a natural romantic. A search shows a few if you are natural romantics. I wonder if you have any links to Pinterest boards, blogs etc I would find useful as I am really struggling to envisage it.
