Oh, I must get one!! Off to sign up.

Hi, Ilona Smile glad you said hello. I'm just as guilty of stalking other season threads for the links. Often find great stuff that comes in our colours as well.
From what I saw in town this week, there's lots of Summer coloured things coming in the shops for winter. Saw a gorgeous dress in M&S but it only seemed to be in burgundy/dusty mauve type colours.

I'm looking forward to having another good shufty round the cashmere outlet shops while we're in Scotland this week

TomYumSoup · 16/10/2014 09:45

Was feeling a bit jealous with lots of talk about colours on other threads so decided to de-lurk (again). Wondering if any Springs about and what you've been buying. I'm a Blue Spring, got my colours done a year ago and been trying to stick to buying only my swatch colours. Unfortunately I have just bought a black biker parka which I am now doubting. I was swayed by the fact that it was less than half price, the style suited me and thought I could brighten it up with a scarf but have only worn it once (without scarf) and felt like it brought me down. Bought loads of summer stuff in lovely colours in the sales but that all gone away for the winter now.

TomYumSoup · 18/10/2014 11:05

Just checking in again to see if anybody aboutGrin

Hopefully · 18/10/2014 11:09

Lots of Spring coloured knitwear in uniqlo, including some good passers for bright navy, I reckon.

Gillybobs · 18/10/2014 11:12

Have just bought some knitwear from uniqlo, seems to be popular amongst the bloggers so thought I'd give it a whirl. Sticking with my greys at the moment as not much on the colour front that suits us

Gillybobs · 18/10/2014 11:12

Ha! Great minds Hopefully!

Aque1ven · 18/10/2014 21:01

Oh, we've been resurrected!!!
Thanks TomYum, thought we'd disappeared forever.

I can understand completely the black biker. You get so many great styles in black that don't seem to come in any of our colours, even the darker ones.
I was in Scotland last week so succumbed yet again to the cashmere outlets Blush Managed to pick up a few good things mostly in blues ( Blue Spring here too). Got a couple of cropped cardigans, our navy & a purple, two v neck jumpers in bright blue & warm pink & a fab, thick grey hooded cardigan which was only £29.... Bargain!!

I've also bought two pairs of those M&S skinny jeans type jeggings in a deep taupe & black Hmm

Mumelie · 18/10/2014 21:41

Hi Springs - long time no chat! Grin

I'm on a no spend (bar the bright blue Audrey dress from Boden sale for work). I've started dressmaking instead and have whipped up some great Spring coloured items.
I too have succumbed to black as well - I still have a fab cashmere coat which I just can't replace - but have made several black dresses, black wrap mini skirt (with red Blue and yellow check) and a black print blouse.

I have read that some systems say bright spring can wear black Wink

OP posts:
Aque1ven · 19/10/2014 18:54

I've read that too, Mumelie. Good! I'm not giving up my black sheepskin coat for anything.
I've been toying with digging my old trusty sewing machine out of the depths of the spare room & starting sewing again. It's years since I did any but there was a time I made all the DCs clothes & most of mine, even my wedding dress.
At the moment I'm on a knitting frenzy.

Which patterns do you use? I sometimes used to get the Vogue ones cos you could get free ones through their pattern mag or the usual others like Simplicity etc. Trouble is there are no fabric shops at all round here now though there used to be at least four or five in every town plus several factory outlets( being "up north" in weaving territory) all closed down alas.

321zerobaby · 21/10/2014 19:52

Hello, I've defected from the summer thread, as following today's colour intervention with Travelin, turns out I'm a blue spring Smile

ladeedad · 21/10/2014 20:08

Hello fellow Blue Spring!

I love being able to wear my clear, bright blues, purples and greens. Just bought a turquoisey-green snood from Primark - £3, bargain!

321zerobaby · 22/10/2014 11:19

Any banana in your wardrobe ladeedad?

CleanLinesSharpEdges · 22/10/2014 13:54

Yay, a spring thread! Can I join please. Im a paintbox spring. I had a huge spending spree last year after my HOC day so dont think Ill be buying much this season but Id love to see what youre all buying.

Gutted that about a month before my HOC day I spent 200 on a swamp coloured dark olive green-ish coat which I can now see completely drains me. Ive only wore it a handful of times, I actually feel dreadful wearing it, so I might have to think about selling it on e-bay to justify buying a replacement.

TomYumSoup · 22/10/2014 17:02

I'm on a no spend really as bought lots last winter after having my colours done but have somehow just ordered a pair of Paige jeans on the back of another thread. They were through ebay though so isn't as bad as it could have been, but I really love hearing about what others are buying and am very easily tempted. Smile

ladeedad · 22/10/2014 17:39

Banana is a good colour for lingerie for me apparently...bloody hard to find - I've made do with bright lemon yellow instead.

Do put your coat on ebay cleanlines - my mum is an Autumn Leaf so she might buy it - no point in keeping something you don't like!

321zerobaby · 22/10/2014 19:35

I never manage a big spend despite my best efforts, as I find clothes it hard to find clothes that fit (short, big boobs, hourglass) so adding in the colours on top, well it can't make it more difficult than it already is.

I have bought this scarf as scarfs always fit! Not sure I have made the right choice of colour though, poppy is a one star at 100%, is that OK do you think?

Also bought this jumper but not sure its a spring blue. You could also read the paper through it, its so thin, and maybe not the best fit. I am going shopping tomorrow so see if I can find it in the shops to try the smaller size.
One of my wow colours is apple green, which I really like, so am going to look for at least a scarf with that in it. Also dove grey, would be nice to find a jacket in that. Doubt I will find anything in canary or banana!

There is very little in my wardrobe that is spring colours. Lots of dark navy, hardly any black at least. Having a style day on Sunday with Travelin Smile

ladeedad · 22/10/2014 20:15

That blue jumper is a warm navy so I think that would suit you, 321 - I always buy my navy items that shade, I just wouldn't go darker than that.

sidsmissis · 22/10/2014 20:42

Yay we are back, I wondered where all the springs had gone! Long time lurker occasional poster here.

Clean like you I'm a paintbox. I was most dischuffed to be this, I wanted to be an autumn Grin

Two years on from diagnosis and I'm starting to get there. I find it all a bit of a trial if I'm honest. I'm not the worlds greatest lover of clothes shopping and to find the right style thing in the right colour was and is often impossible and my patience wears thin.

Like Mumelie though, I have cranked the old sewing machine up and now have a few lovely things in the right style/colour.I have just bought this Jacket though. It's a tad bluer than the swatches but it looks ok.

One of my biggest challenges in winter is that none of the darker colours look good next to my face. I either have to wear bright scarves or dress like a bright thing when everyone else seem to be wearing more sober winter colours.

Has anyone seen any green in the shops. It seems to be the one colour that's lacking this year and it is my favourite.

ladeedad · 22/10/2014 20:55

Apparently Springs cannot go too bright Grin we need something that works with our zingy skin and eyes.

I have also been disappointed with the high street colours so I do most of my shopping online.

321zerobaby · 22/10/2014 22:32

Thanks ladeedad, I didn't know my eyes and skin were zingy!

That does sound challenging sidsmissis, I like dark colours too. How about dove grey, can you wear that near your face? That seems more wintery to me somehow. I am shopping tomorrow, which green are you particularly looking for? I am hoping to find some apple green, in a scarf maybe, but cardigan would be great (not holding out much hope for that though).

I bought a Clinique lipstick today. I showed the lady the HOC makeup page with lipstick colours, she tried about 4 on me (coral or pink ones) which I didn't like, then some red. The one I bought I really liked, but have a feeling its 'wrong', its called Cider Berry

I have preordered this Boden Ravello top in bright blue.

bottersnikes · 02/11/2014 17:41

Just had my colours done and it turns out I'm a clear spring (saw a CMB stylist so warm and clear in that language!). I now understand why most of my wardrobe didn't look quite right - that and the fact that I've been wearing totally the wrong fit most of the time, which didn't help!

I'm now on the lookout for some lovely bright, clear fitted dresses, high-waisted skirts and fitted cashmere/wool tops. I'm keen to get stuff that will last and is responsibly made - Peopletree and the like.

Any recommendations for other brands I can try or items that others have seen? Springs seem to be the quietest of the colour threads, but I'm sure there are plenty of us out there :)

SofaCanary · 02/11/2014 19:23

The pea green and warm coral are very tempting.

321zerobaby · 02/11/2014 22:52

Hi bottersnikes, are you pleased to be diagnosed a spring? Can't help you with dresses, as I can only buy from Pepperberry (hourglass). Skirts seem to fit me from Hobbs and Boden, yesterday I tried on a lovely red skirt from Mistral and a blue skirt in M&S, neither fitted as too big on waist, snug on hips. I haven't tried anything from Peopletree. I have tried the cashmere on in Uniqlo, seemed nice and is well recommended on here, I just didn't like the style.

I have had no luck buying anything spring coloured in the shops so have resorted to Ebay and had a happy spending spree. Someone was selling lots of Boden so I am happy! I have even ventured into the great unknown, and bought a colour I said I would never wear-brown (or tan as HOC call it). It was a one star colour for me, but because I don't want to look like crazy colour lady, thought I would try it as a neutral. Well out of my comfort zone, having moved on to safe navy blue about 5 years ago, after umpteen years in black.

I also bought a violet-ish coloured Hobbs pencil skirt, a silver grey Boden Ravello top, a red Boden cardigan and a scoop neck grey cashmere jumper. And a blue pencil skirt from Pepperberry.

The thing I am having the most trouble with is scarves. I nearly always wear one as I am a chilly mortal. I need big print, and so far have found nothing. Everything seems to have black on it! Any scarf recommendations?
