Hi KosherBacon :) I think you would like natural fabrics the best, and envision floaty, feminine and softer styles. Take a look here for inspiration.

I love my off-white mini-dress with a little frill hem and sleeves and tiny flowers over it, which I imagine as being completely 'Natural Romantic'. However I think I lie more towards the classic ingenue type - which is similar but perhaps clothes that have plainer styles.

I had my colours done a few weeks back, and after some further research am now spending like mad Blush

But I have a holiday coming up, and summer is my favourite time of year, so thought I'd make best use of my enthusiasm while it lasts!

My spree - any help with how I could put these separates together etc. would be great!

what top would go with aqua?

splashy accessory - could wear with a lot of my plainer dresses

another splashy accessory

needed a basic...

one of my 100% colours!

what could I pair this with?

again another good colour

hoping it will go with my grass green shorts...we'll see

Also something I've noticed is that so many online sites/shops pair brilliant colours with black on their models/mannequins - why!!! It completely dullens the colour.

Rabbithole- thank you so much for your links, its really helping me envisage things, especially with the clothes you showed. I had found that pinterest board, but found that it went too far with the ethnic/ frilly/ ruffley and it put me off.

We've slipped to page seven...'twill never do! Grin

Some lovely things there Rabbithole.

I've just got an order from Kettlewell. Don't usually buy there but was struggling finding my best colours in the shops & they had a bit of a reduction on.

This

And three of these

Could do with a pair of comfy flat shoes. I saw these but I'm still struggling a bit with my foot swollen so don't really want to spend a lot. So I'm on the lookout for some ballet flats if anyone knows of any, please.

Hi Springs! Bit of a bump from me as we are slipping again!
How was your Kettlewell order Aque? I keep meaning to try something from them but havnt so far. Got the new catalogue through yesterday but all I liked was only online.
I've not been spending recently (bar my perfect grey ankle boots from Boden). Have coloured my hair even darker (can't believe I've gone from light blonde to medium Brown in 6 months) - I love it - you can really see my eyes (as it's my natural colour so it actually suits me) and all my clothes look great (so not really tempted to spend). I joining the low carb boot camp today so hope to have shed some weight for the summer.
Anyone else picked up anything nice?

I found this handbags photo on one of the "Spring" websites out there - thought it was ideal inspiration for brightening up our Summer wardrobes Grin

I have just had a wardrobe clearout and put all my boring white/black combo tops (shocking how many I have, especially for work) in storage. They may well end up in the charity shop. They're also the first colours to look grubby and over-washed, I've noticed.

I've been diagnosed as a 'Blue Spring' so does that mean I'm a Bright Spring or a Light Spring? I know it's more towards the cooler, brighter end of Spring rather than the warmer 'True Springs' but I'm a bit confused by the alternative labels!

I'm a Blue Spring too tabvase. Think, just think mind, that it's a bright spring mostly but that has black in the CMB swatches & ours doesn't, so perhaps not completely equivalent.
Some nice bags on there, reminds me have have some coloured ones shoved in a cupboard, must dig them out. I'm a dreadful hoarder Blush
I need to sort through my wardrobe too & have a clear out, not done it since I got diagnosed, just been adding stuff.

I'm happy with the Kettlewell stuff, Mumelie. The cardigans are really nice, neatly fitted & lovely colours " in the flesh" Breton blue, Soft Coral & Lobelia. I haven't tried the top yet but the colour is lovely, I got jade. Your hair sounds lovely.

I'm sneaking onto this thread as I haven't had my colours done by HoC (yet Wink) but I have been analysed by a SciArt analyst and I'm a Bright Spring. I struggle with my colours, not because I dislike them, but because I can't put outfits together. I end up with a bright colour on top (with a scarf, usually), paired with black or grey trousers and black shoes. Woop. Grin I also can't find make up I like - well, lipsticks really, as normal colours are too bright for me and I can't find decent sheer colours.

I really do like my colours, but I am considering getting them done with HoC just on the offchance that they say I'm something easy to shop for, like a Summer. Grin

Hi Kitty welcome to the thread.
Have you tried Revlon lip butters? Bright but sheer - I am a bright spring and Wear Candy Apple (a red) and Wild Watermelon (coral).
Think we all do a bright with mostly neutral. Much easier in the height of summer but hard the rest of the year. I'm into bright accessories at the moment - yellow statement necklace, coral bag, mint scarf etc.

Hi everyone. I am yet to have my colours done (no consultant local to me and I can't drive Sad ) and am a bit confused. I think I might be a Clear Spring/Bright Spring/Blue Spring or whatever the equivalent is in HoC. I think this matches me quite well, plus red. I have very yellowy pale beige skin which is neutral but leaning warm (I think!), dark hazel eyes and darkest brown/black-brown hair. Freckles. I can wear warm and cool colours which makes it very confusing! I can wear black but feel warm-toned - why is this apparently impossible according to HoC? If it makes it easier I know what I can't wear, aka dusty colours like beige, mid-brown, olive green etc. I know I'm either a Winter or Spring. I will find a picture without a filter to help others have a guess!

Hi Kitty, welcome to the Spring thread Smile
Clarins do a lovely sheer lipstick with some very good spring colours in it. I love Sorbet & one(I think) a Pink Coral, something like that, would have to go & find it upstairs, but there are a few others, gorgeous sheer texture.

MyrtleDove, I'm not sure if you are Spring, could you be a Winter? I looked at your photos on your other thread & in the one with the bobbles on your head the yellow & green look the worst of the colours on you, could just be the photo. Yellows & greens are very strongly in the Spring colours. Even us cooler Blue Springs suit yellow more than pinks, you seem to suit the pinks. Try burgundy, it makes Springs look like they should be on a cold slab Confused

MyrtleDove · 13/05/2014 18:30

Hmm I can wear yellow as long as it's bright enough I think? Like a really zingy lemon yellow, but not a buttery yellow iyswim. I can definitely wear green from the more saturated end of it, emerald/pine etc.

I always thought I was a Winter, by the way, until I found that my best lipstick colours are coral and tomato red Confused Burgundy makes me look pretty sallow but not dead I don't think - I find it hard to tell by looking at myself though. I have Topshop lipstick in Inhibition which is a dark plum/burgundy and I like it but I can't tell if it's just because I like the colour! I think burgundy is often too soft and not sharp enough for me though. Best colours are royal blue, Chinese blue, black, red. I am just so confused by being neutral/warm-skinned?

Mumelie · 13/05/2014 18:36

Hi Myrtle. I'm not sure you are a Spring either - sorry. Your eyes seem to dark somehow. I'm a dark haired Bright Spring and agree about the neutral skin.
Have you tried any of the online quizzes?
here or here or here. You can Google for lots of others - I come out a Bright/clear spring in all of them.
Do give Aques burgundy a go - one of the few colours I really really cannot get away with no matter how much make up I put on!

Mumelie I have neutral skin actually, which is massively unhelpful for HoC! Why HoC doesn't acknowledge neutral-skinned people I don't know, it makes it very confusing.

Also I have been told by others on here that dark eyed people can be Blue Springs?

I don't own any burgundy clothing so will have to hunt some down. Colours in my wardrobe btw - black, grey, navy, teal, Chinese blue, true red, royal blue, amethyst purple. Don't think that's one season exclusively? My problem is being plus-sized, so tend to shop for my size first and colour is a secondary concern Sad

I would say my skin is a pale beige by the way - Korean BB creams work well for me in the lightest shades, so a much paler version of East Asian skintones basically.

Also - how come coral lipstick is so good on me??

Report
Mumelie · 13/05/2014 19:29

Ah could be a Spring then. Only way to know for sure is to get colours done professionally. Or just pick a palette and go with it. My veins/skin are neutral too - consultant initially thought Winter, but found after draping I was Spring. What about colours like icy pink or blue - any good on you?

OP posts:

MyrtleDove · 13/05/2014 19:52

Never tried icy pink or blue! I tend to instinctively stay away from pale colours. I would say - hesitantly - that white is better than ivory on me I think. I would put myself as a 12 blueprints Bright Winter which is a neutral season. Maybe I could think of myself as 'a Winter who cheats'? :)

Report
Mumelie · 13/05/2014 20:38

I think bright winter is next to bright spring with a bit of cross over in the colours. I like 'a winter who cheats' as I often feel like a spring who cheats Grin when I wear black!

Me too, Mumelie Wink
I have pale neutral skin too, but not your colouring otherwise. I thought dark eyes weren't spring? I can get away with pink as long as it doesn't veer towards fuchsia & all blues. I cheat with black too as I still have too many nice things, big purchases like coats & suits, but pure white makes me look deathly, I thought that was a real Winter colour.
If you could get it done properly it's well worth it as you get to know not just your season but all the shades are rated especially for you. All the seasons can wear most colours, it's the shades within them that make the huge difference. So just knowing you suit say red means nothing really, it's the shade of red that is best for you. You save money & time in the end.

Hi Springs, delurking to ask: there is a company with a website that specialises in selling tops in a wide variety of colours. Can anyone tell me its name?
