Secret

I am salivating over buying and ordering the gorgeous silver pointed slingback flats that shops (and Boden) are going to be filled with. They are SUCH an elegant and chien shoe. You get that gorgeous Roger Vivier elongated but still proportionate foot with a little toe cleavage.

Turq Yes there was some glossing over I agree and you do get that with a lot of US authors who have been through Writers workshops like the Iowa one- rote writing but definitely worth reading further novels.

I can recommend Susannah Moore 'Sleeping Beauties' too.

Oh my goodness mig I just had a look for the silver shoes on boden and I think I'm in love with the sky blue ones here. So pretty.

Decam yay for Gucci Friday and hope you're having a lovely birthday.

Mignonette · 14/02/2014 19:06

They are lovely aren't they Blair?

I love that blue with camel, pale browns and Winter Whites - very chic.

I still yearn for the Cowslip yellow nubuck slingbacks I bought in Stanley market, HK years ago. With a punched out dotted leather upper, good toe cleavage and buffed silver buckles they were beauty personified. I felt so cool in them aged 18. Yep, that long ago. It was the time of sports inspired slouchy tops and little dresses. We wore zip front mini dresses in sweatshirting fabric- a heavy gauge- with basketball style numbers on the back and stitched heavy weave band trim on the arms. I had a navy, royal blue and white mid thigh length version like a fitted sexy T shirt dress which I wore with the slingbacks at University. The cut and swagger was reminiscent of those tube tops and tube skirts worn by 83' vintage Madonna.

I also had a gorgeous cream slash neck off the shoulder sweatshirt from the early days of Chelsea Girl (Now River Island). It had a basketball number '10' on the front and a ribbed welt and neck. Cut square, I used to feel so casually cool in it and had to nearly lock it away so often did my housemates nick it.

Happy days of 80's fash that wasn't so bad.

LinusDKD · 14/02/2014 19:08

Gucci Friday was a success then decam! I love the disco in navy but
I do have a soft spot for the red one as it is such a beautiful red (in pictures anyway, haven't seen it IRL)

Can't wait to get my Boden cashmere jumpers. I have heard good things about the quality but am curious to see if it's true.

I read every day before going to bed on my iphone but recently I have bought an actual book (couldn't find an e-book version) and it is in French! Eek! I speak French every day but it has been years decades since I read a French book.

DH has just opened a bottle of bubbles! Yay! Not because of VDay but because it's Friday. Wink

AmberNectarine · 14/02/2014 19:16

I've got those Boden silver slingbacks Mig - I loved the orange pair I got last summer. Can't wait for this fucking weather to cheer up so I can wear them. I don't mind cold feet but I won't countenance wet ones.

Eagerly awaiting DH getting home so that I can see what was in the parcel that was delivered for him earlier. Have given it a good shake and my guess is shoes...

LinusDKD · 14/02/2014 19:19

Ha amber you're like my DSis, she always used to shake her Christmas presents and manhandle them to figure out what was in them.

LinusDKD · 14/02/2014 19:30

a new bag for mig?

Maybe I am a bit mad but I thought you might like it.

Annianni · 14/02/2014 19:31

I love those silver shoes.
I want some pointy flats, possibly silver, to wear with boyfriend jeans.

I have a vague recollection of some strappy silver shoes that the frugality had... With lots of buckles... Did someone off here buy them?

Annianni · 14/02/2014 19:32

I used to love Chelsea Girl

Mignonette · 14/02/2014 19:42

Amber You have lovely taste and those Boden press day photos on your blog were beautiful- the colours all together

I recall you saying you'd nabbed the silvers- they'd have been my choice too.

Linus that is cute but I'd change the gold chain to a plaited leather or a leather whipcord, possibly a silver one. I am a bit funny about chain straps and worry they aren't suited to me. I love a bit of neon- you know me well. I have had to cut down on my spending since my career change because now my income has to be averaged out over a year from amounts that come in fits and starts from the writing and other stuff. I have a couple of private clients in therapy too. So I need to choose the big purchases carefully. The good news is I have never bought a lot of stuff-I have many decades of clothing to dress from and am probably less spendy than I appear on here. I get vicarious pleasure from you all Smile.

Mignonette · 14/02/2014 19:47

And no no no to wet feet. I have developed a chillblain on my third toe and the itchiness and pain is driving me barmy. I caught it with a fingernail in bed and went through the roof with the ridiculous intensity of the pain. Yet the top of my toe is numb.

Don't tell me- It's about to drop off.

I once removed a sock from a patient in the XRay and the patient remarked on the fact that one of their toes appeared to be missing. Before I could react the patient grabbed the very stinky sock, shook it and one very black dead toe fell out and rolled onto the floor. The Radiographer had to clutch the edge of the bed to stop herself from fainting and I learned what the descriptive phrase 'whey faceed' looked like in reality.

libertychick · 14/02/2014 20:29

A podiatrist friend of mine has had that experience and said she once put her thumb right through a person's foot Shock - and the lesson is - do everything in your power to avoid diabetes.

I love the look of those slingbacks but I really struggle with shoes like that. I seem to have very sensitive feet and get blisters within minutes of putting something lovely on. Do the rest of you just tough it out or does skin against firm leather just not bother you? I also get blisters on the soles of my feet wearing heels and blisters on the heels in flats Confused

BTW Shop there are fantastic knitting pattern books out there. Next time you are in Liberty check out the yarn section there. Very hard not to spend a lot of money! The book I recommended looks naff but it really has very good explanations for all the techniques you need and some of the patterns really are ok.

I get blisters on my feet the first few times I wear shoes without socks after winter but after a while my feet seem to get used to it.

mig what do you mean you won't buy the ££££ bag I linked for you? Grin

AmberNectarine · 14/02/2014 20:43

They didn't give me blisters at all, the Bodens. Normally I just tough it out though.

DH bought me these lovely shoes. Good man.

I get blisters every time with new shoes. This blister stick is the only thing I have found so far that works, for preventing them.

Those shoes are fab, Amber.

QueenCadbury · 15/02/2014 07:25

Morning all! Remember me? Thought I'd pop back for a bit. It's been great to have a break although sadly it has not stopped me spending. We've been plagued by illness since new year and although nothing serious there's been a hospital stay for both me and dd and lots of sitting on the sofa time so I've had far too much time to brows shopping sites!

I gave up sugar on New Years days so my first purchase was a necessity as my jeans were literally falling off me. The scales have shown a loss of 1lb but I've definitely slimmed down. I just went for my usual gap straights as there was a discount code and I haven't had a chance to go jeans shopping. One day I will branch out and try some others.

this blouse was a belated Christmas present from dp as there was nothing that I wanted at the time. I totally love it and it's very me.

Looking ahead to my Marrakech trip in march I wanted a couple of cotton tops so bought this and this. I'd been after a cheap white blouse for a while as I'm too scared to wear my beautiful jaegar one on a daily basis as dd will cover it in chocolate/play dough etc. I love the bow on the back. I bought silver top as I thought it would be nice for the evening but although the colour looked fab on me and I loved the fit I just felt like I looked as if I had wrapped myself in silver foil Grin. Then last week I nipped into white stuff as it's by my hairdressers and fell in love with this top. It's a lovely fit and great for dressing up or down. I also ordered this as they didn't have my size in store as I adore the quirky print but sadly the neckline and collar doesn't suit me so it's going back.

So not bad for someone who's not meant to be shopping Grin. Dh isn't impressed but I've been busy selling things too to make money so he's happier now. I can't imagine buying much else at the moment until this weather changes. As usual it's madness that the shops are full of pastel summer clothes when it's monsoon and hurricane season outside.

Oh just remembered I also ordered the gap navy luxlight sweater as I'd convinced myself that I needed a plain navy jumper. I sent it back as actually I realised it was too plain and that I need some sort of detailing on things.

Hope you're all well and not suffering with this weather. Catch you later...

BrandyAlexander · 15/02/2014 07:39

Hellooooo QueenC. Welcome backGrinGrinGrin

OMG those are some fantastic links. Envy I love that first Espirit blouse and the bow one. Also love the broderie. Gorgeous clothes!

BrandyAlexander · 15/02/2014 07:40

Oh my Boden slipper boots arrived! Great buy for £12 each. Love them.

Hope everyone is okay. I didn't sleep well as the wind was terrifying.

QueenCadbury · 15/02/2014 07:56

I slept fine but I'm too scared to peek out the curtains for fear of what i may find. Our garden is already littered with cereal boxes and plastic bottles from the recycling getting blown away the other night.

Drywhiteplease · 15/02/2014 08:06

QueenC so glad you're back......and what a return! fab links! have been looking at Next for summer holiday stuff.

shopafrolic · 15/02/2014 08:21

Waves to QueenC
Awful night here, fence panels down - Little Tikes house half way up garden, rubbish strewn everywhere. These houses are so old I spent the night terrified that the roof was going to blow off at any minute. :(

AmberNectarine · 15/02/2014 09:59

yay, the leather shorts arrived and fit like a glove. They were labelled a 36, so I was a bit panicked but I won't be auditioning for Babestation any time soon.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 15/02/2014 10:18

Nice one Amber, hope to see them in a blog post soon! And the shoes - well done your DH.

Hello QueenC I have delurked since you were last around a lot but I think I'm following you on pin.

Woke up today to our neighbour's pampas grass everywhere, but other than that and a slightly leaky conservatory roof all is ok. :)

Just had a cafe breakfast while we wait for some work to be done on the car. Hope everyone has a great day!
