SugarHut · 06/01/2014 17:26

Hello....not a stealth boast, more of a quick, help me not look like a chav....

A friend of mine is in handbag shop right now. He's just text me saying would I prefer a "Chanel Quilted Caviar leather Flap bag" in black, red, white or gold.

What do I have? Discounted red as I have a red Lulu Guiness clutch. Is white chavtastic? Do I go classic black, or nudey gold? Both I have loads to match, outfit wise. Help quickly please!!!! What's best?

Googled them...I presume it's the small one. He doesn't know me that well to spend loads.

TIA!!! x x x

Oh Amy, nap don't do chanel bags Sad Matches do some vintage ones though.

Mignonette · 10/01/2014 13:00

The spreadsheet lives!

it lives. How deeply fucking sad.

Amber thank you.

Bagnob The difference is I apologised.

No spreadsheet Mingonette, obnoxious behaviour just sticks in my memory.

Mignonette · 10/01/2014 14:32

Nonsense- it's called an advanced search. The alternative is a little unpalatble re what it says about tolerance and understanding because of course what was omitted from that charming little anecdote was the context.

And thank goodness there are more forgiving people in the World or we really would be going to hell in a handcart. Fortunately the women on that board really are decent and non grudge holding.

You sound a real charmer by the way keeping tally of things that happened, let me see, about 15 months ago on an internet forum [shocked]. WOW.

I take it you are perfect and have never lashed out EVER in pain? That you have never ever put a foot wrong? Because anybody who says not is a liar.

I'm not religious but didn't God once send a flood to kill nearly everybody Wink.

Mignonette · 10/01/2014 14:33

Oh and anybody spotted the big fat muddle in the story yet? Well I know one person that has Wink.

Talk about transparent.

AmyMumsnet · 10/01/2014 14:40

Please can we try to keep chat as friendly as possible? And if you have suspicions about anyone please get in touch with us rather than posting about it on the board?

Thanks!

Mignonette · 10/01/2014 14:44

Sorry Amy

Not feeling very friendly so will push the thread back under the bridge

mignonette

You are totally entitled to have any opinion you choose, and to voice it freely, however to ordinary lurking readers you come across as quite unpleasant. I'm sure you aren't in RL. I know you've said upthread that it is all in spirit of healthy debate, forgive me I'm just paraphrasing IIRC, but you seem like a dog with a bone and it is just a bit of a shame.
.
I suppose what I'm trying to say is that when I see you've posted again and you seem really angry, I feel a bit sad. This is absolutely not mean't nastily. Why don't you just leave it alone now, it has got so out of hand :(

propertyNIGHTmareBEFOREXMAS · 10/01/2014 15:55

Probably the most bonkers bag thread to date.

MissBeehiving - you are spot on - very well said.

worldgonecrazy · 10/01/2014 18:08

MissBeehiving, thank you for articulating so clearly.

In Sugarhut's defence, a quick search shows she has spent a great deal of her life amongst people who think beauty can be both bought and sold, so it may be that there is no ability to truly comprehend why some women feel uncomfortable with the idea of accepting gifts designed to impress from strangers.

Whilst it may be lovely to be so beautiful, there will always come a day when we have to learn what it is like to be invisible, and that is the great sadness in all this.

ProjectGainsborough · 10/01/2014 18:22

Jesus, this thread is weird. Just skimming because I stepped away for a day but to sum up:

OP asked a question about a bag.
OP got a bit shirty because some posters also made (TBF unasked-for) comments about the morality of the situation.
Then lots of people got shirty because the OP was shirty.
....Then everyone went mad for a brief period.

And now I want some silver pointy flats and a 2.55.

BelleateSebastian · 10/01/2014 18:34

Someone posted a link to a lovely house on Cheyne st this afternoon, ask Mr Altruisticgiftgiver to buy it you as a weekday bolthole ... the sparkly UGG boots would look lovely parked under one of the pink leather sex chairs ;)

MrsCampbellBlack · 10/01/2014 18:39

I've spent way too much time today thinking about the re-issue.

HelloBoys · 10/01/2014 18:42

Sugar hut has been rude to me in this post and another one hence me calling her rude.

I treat people as I find them. Ignore generally.

I live with, work, know etc rich people. Most of them aren't ostentatious and you'd never guess they have money.

I don't do logos, find them crass. And I see little or no point in bragging re what I've been bought. Smacks of insecurity.

HelloBoys · 10/01/2014 18:43

Oh and I was off this post cos I was working and ill not cos I couldn't be bothered to answer the lame assed OP,

Get over yourself OP maybe you'll get some love and respect off us.

NigellasGuest · 10/01/2014 18:44

Mrs CB, or someone, can you briefly explain what is the re-issue?

I like the 2.55 - are you talking about a reissue of that? (sorry can't face reading back over the thread, it gives me palpitations)!

HelloBoys · 10/01/2014 18:49

Oh yeah said it before will say again the models etc i know DGAF re labels!

A few are into their looks, etc (gym etc) but most are v modest and v sweet. You want names I'll spill. Grin

The photographers well some are arses. Not my dear brother!

Only models I know who DGAF re logo labels are 'glamour' - hello Sugarhut!

MrsCampbellBlack · 10/01/2014 18:49

re-issue as opposed to 2.55

Think I've got that right.

polyhymnia · 10/01/2014 19:05

Another who agrees with misbehavin.

polyhymnia · 10/01/2014 19:06

Or even beehiving!

eshermummy · 10/01/2014 19:09

Having seen them side by side like that, I think I prefer the lines of the original 2.55, although I get that the re-issue is less obviously branded. As it happens, I like a lot of hardware on a bag so the additional branding floats my boat but I know lots of people (more perhaps) prefer less hardware and smaller fastenings/rivets etc

By the way Amber, just to be clear, I didn't see your "worn out" comment last night or I would have pulled you up on it there and then but to be CATEGORICALLY clear, I have no idea who Bagsnob is but I can 100% tell you that he/she is NOT one of the AWO collective.

alma123 · 10/01/2014 19:17

HelloBoys, yes, that's my experience too - people who have money tend to be the least ostentatious.

Do spill the beans though - am curious!
