Hello wise ones, I hope you can help.
After wearing a 34B for the last 20 odd years, I have followed the advice on this forum and remeasured. It turns out I'm a 30D Smile
I have been happily wearing a couple of Sainsbury's
32D's for a few months (on mat leave, so I've been a bit skint)
So, my problem is, my Dh bought me FIVE bras for Christmas in my new size,.. But they are from M and S (I know..) and they are all massive. I'm wondering how their sizes come up ? should I swap for a smaller cup or should I just get him to get his money back and go elsewhere Hmm ?
Thanks in advance ladies

SorrelForbes · 18/01/2014 10:17

Aaaagggghhhh. Stupid phone.

Another site? Ewa Michalak?

InMySpareTime · 18/01/2014 12:32

That's ok, I know both of those already. I was just checking I hadn't missed out on an alternative small back bra sourceGrin.

Cocochops · 18/01/2014 23:43

Can I get some help please?
Underbust measurement 27 over bust is 32 so what size should I be trying?
From the sounds of it 26 but impossible to find so id I look at 28 what cup size?
Any small band recommendations please? Ridiculous that you can't get small bands I am not even that small size 8 same size as a lot of others I am sure.

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/01/2014 23:59

Start with 28d and 28dd. Bravissimo and brastop. If that feels too loose then made in. Preston do 26s but as you are quite petite rounding up to 28 may be perfect

InMySpareTime · 19/01/2014 08:47

Made in Preston only go down to E (I think), the 26 band is true to size. I'm 26" measurement and was on the loosest hook new.

InMySpareTime · 25/01/2014 17:09

Yay! I got my Made In Preston bra, it actually fits, although the available styles are quite bright! I messaged them asking for some plainer, more normal-looking 26 back bras, they replied saying they'll have some in March. I can finally go from one ill-fitting bra to a choice of well fitted onesGrin.
This is going to get expensive...

SorrelForbes · 25/01/2014 17:49

Excellent, and about time you were in the right sized bra Wink

StatisticallyChallenged · 25/01/2014 18:00

How did you find the quality InMySpareTime? I've just seen pictures of one and it looked dire but it may have been a one off.

InMySpareTime · 25/01/2014 18:26

Build quality is fine, fabric is not as nice as I've had with previous bras, but the underwire is shaped nicely and ends at the front of my ribcage (I usually have underwires in my armpit somewhere as they are designed for bigger backs and not sized down properly). The size is not on the label (which fell off first time I wore it anyway) but it's doing the job, and they respond to suggestions quickly.
They are expanding their workforce, with new designers and cutters coming in, so I hope to see more cottony bras in the coming months...

Cocochops · 30/01/2014 22:19

Help wise bra ladies!
I have ordered lots of 28D from figleaves in varying styles and brands.
They are too big for me so what do I do now that seems to be the smallest size you can get?

The band is too big when I fasten on loosest I can still stretch it out and the cups are too big aahhh

StatisticallyChallenged · 30/01/2014 22:23

Sadly 26 backs are like unicorn shit and damn near impossible to find. Try ordering 28c to get the cup rightand eeither take the band in or use a rixie clip to shrink it.

MarianForrester · 30/01/2014 22:35

Please could you help me? 33 under band and 41. Have been trying 32G or 34F/FF/G.

The best I have found is my asda 34g, though it Is a bit big in the back and not great support shape.

I had been wearing Wacoal 36DDD bras, and one of them is sort of ok too, though the back rides up badly.

The best new one I have is a Panache Idina balconnette in a 32G. The band is great and the side boob shove in is perfect, BUT there is just too much over bra wobble. Yet the centre wire sits perfectly.

I have another Panche one in the same size, which gives a terribly matronly look. It is fuller coverage but awful. Makes me look about twenty years older.

Any ideas, oh you bra gurus? Have exhausted my internet bra shopping and am at a loss. I live in the sticks, so no handy Bravissimmo...!

StatisticallyChallenged · 30/01/2014 22:54

When you say that the idina gives over bra wobble where exactly is it wobbling?

MarianForrester · 31/01/2014 00:03

Upper boob, over top of bra. Just a bit, not exactly four boob, just not right.

Aquelven · 31/01/2014 03:23

Can I just ask something, please?
I measure 33 under & 44 over which I think puts me at a 34GG or 32HH, is that right?

The problem I've been having though is a fit problem that doesn't seem to be mentioned of sites such as Bravissimo where they demonstrate bad fittings, band riding up at back etc.
A couple of bras that I have seem a perfect fit & are fine when I put them on but as the day goes on, after a couple of hours, my boob has escaped from the top so the cup is scrunched up under the breast & the bra is acting more like a hammock under bare breasts, if you can understand my meaning. I can't fathom out why but it's really embarrassing.

StatisticallyChallenged · 31/01/2014 07:04

It sounds like what is known as orange in a glass. Basically the wire shape isn't right for your boobs. What bras are you wearing?

Aquelven · 31/01/2014 09:42

They're last year ones, didn't want to buy new till I knew what was cause.
One's a M&S T shirt type, lightly padded, bit plunge. The other two are Debenhams Gorgeous range, one a balconette the other more of a half cup. They are all 34F, as that's what I was measured as.
What causes the orange in a glass effect?

StatisticallyChallenged · 31/01/2014 09:56

It can be a couple of things. If the wires are too deep for you then even though the overall cup volume might be right you won't be able to use the space properly. Sometimes the shape of the cup is just all wrong. HHave a look at your boobs and try to work out what shape they are.

InMySpareTime · 01/02/2014 18:40

I've been onto Made In Preston, they do down to 26DD in all their styles, and are introducing some "everyday" bras in their Spring and Summer range.
My bra from them is still fitting well, maybe a shade on the small side before AF (I might need a 26G PMT braBlush).

LuBrazil · 17/06/2014 19:37

Ola!!HELP!!! my measurements in inches: 31 'back 39 'bust
what size should I buy?
Freya, fantasie and panache ..

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/06/2014 20:08

Start by trying 30FF, 30G, 32FF, 32F and work from there

ABlandAndDeadlyCourtesy · 19/09/2014 19:22

Bumping this for folks on this thread;

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/2188966-Do-you-wear-a-34-inch-bra-band?msgid=49606604#49606604

NeedsAsockamnesty · 19/09/2014 20:47

I seriously need one,I used to be quite good at it myself but somehow I've lost the nack.

Under bust 30inches

On bust 40 inches

One thing that causes a bit of an issue is I have implants that stick out about 6 inches and each boob measures almost 13 inches from side to side and weighs a ton.

If I don't wear underwire I find it incredibly uncomfortable and look saggy but most of my bras hurt because the underwire digs in on my sides by my armpit.

Because of the shape of my boobs I prefer balconette style bras or t-shirt ones preferably with a bit of light padding or moulded cups the only one I have that is comfortable is a 34f m&s t-shirt moulded cup bra but I know it does not fit right the cup is to small

I used to like to get my bras made for me in rigby and peller but I'm now to self conscious about my shape to go in their.

If its useful I wear a size 10 on my bottom half and a 12 on top

NeedsAsockamnesty · 19/09/2014 20:58

Forgot to add my boobs stick out I have no side boob if that makes sense
