Happy birthday Dry Thanks Cake Wine

Hope you're having a fabulous day.

MarshaBrady · 08/12/2013 18:09

I have ordered some frames to try, love online glasses shops. The ones I have have been broken and glued and are now held together by sellotape. It is time Grin

santamarianovella · 08/12/2013 19:24

Very quiet in here! Hope everyone is enjoying decorating their Christmas trees!
I managed to finish scatter my ashes at bergdorf this afternoon.
The trailer was more interesting than the actual documentary! The first half hour was really boring.I really liked the part about the window display and Betty halbreich ,wished there was more of her, quite the character!

I remember going there with my mom , and linus

Mignonette · 08/12/2013 19:40

Bergdorf is very 'old New York'. That I do know. Of Saks i know nothing but wonder if it dates back to rivalry or is like the snobbery towards Harrods (which I always saw as having a little racial undertones) bearing in mind its foreign ownership...

I have Holly damaged fingers. Darned spiky stuff. The windows are full of it alongside Costa Boda crystal light holders (the Snowball ones) and little baubles in silver. Vereee tasteful darling. Normally I am all about the kitsch.

DH is putting the film on my Ipad as we speak! But I hate it when trailers contain all the good bits and the rest of the film is rubbish!

I remember writing on MNV when I got back from NY that I was a bit dissapointed with Bergdorf Goodman's. They had lovely things for sale but the whole shop felt a bit dated and old-fashioned (and not in a good way)

mig mentioning Old New York reminded me that the average age of the staff was about 80 Wink

And you're right santa their shoe department really pales in comparison to Selfridges's shoe hall!

OneLittleLady · 08/12/2013 19:52

My tree is up! I'm still a bit sad and a touch Envy at all you ladies having real trees but I just know I can't have one with the cat! I hope you don't lose any respect for me when you see the amount of tinsel on my tree Grin will post a pic you know where when my camera is charged up

MarshaBrady · 08/12/2013 19:55

Argh have been looking at the Cutler and Gross site. Love those frames. Do I want to spend that much?... Focus! Might have to do a trip to Knightsbridge and have a look.

The trees look fabulous on mnv! We are holding off until post-party. Decided that the tiger theme would clash with Christmas.

santamarianovella · 08/12/2013 20:29

mig I think you are right, maybe because of its location, and history .,most of its customers are old money, and maybe saks is new money? I really hate these assumptions!

linus you are right,it has everything but the way the products are displayed is very dated! So uninspiring!

marsha I think buying glasses on line is a bit of a challenge, maybe going to the store is best.

QueenCadbury · 08/12/2013 20:32

Evening all. Loving all the tree pictures. one we have cats and they ignore the trees. Does yours try and climb it?

Happy birthday dry Cake Wine Flowers. Have you recovered from clubbing yet?

I hard too much wine last night. There were waitresses at the party who did too good a job at keeping your glass topped up. I came home and woke dh by being a sex pest Grin.

As you know I'm now officially an ingenue natural < waves to the other queen lurking>. So basically I'm a natural with ingenue traits.

Natural is...
Clothes with movement
Natural fabrics and textured materials ignores the fact that most my wardrobe is polyester
Soft, unconstructed lines in beautiful textures
Casual, easy look
Outdoorsy
Relaxed

I then need to add delicate touches for the ingenue part...
Small scle accessories
Small scale floral patterns
Lighter weight footwear
Small pretty buttons
Scalloped edges
Knitted, lace, crochet finishes, baby cables and pointelle knits.

It's all very me and the most interesting thing is why things don't work. So structured clothes, stiff fabrics, stiff collars, large patterns, big jewellery, v necks are definitely not for me. It's also kind of given me permission to ditch the plain tees and enjoy wearing my blouses more without feeling over dressed and to buy tees with detailing such as pintucks which I like but was put off as thought they may be frumpy but now I know they suit me.

So definitely a good day and now I'm off to create a new Pinterest board!

Oops posted twice Grin

Mignonette · 08/12/2013 20:40

But you looked incredible in your VW Queen. Would that be classed as structured?

OneLittleLady · 08/12/2013 20:40

Oh yes QueenC the minute the tree goes up, the cats trying to climb up it! Fake tree and plastic, shatterproof baubles all the way here!

Your style day sounds interesting, I keep wondering what I'd come out as but I'b bet my life on being a romantic!

QueenCadbury · 08/12/2013 20:49

mig the viv is fine as it's draping and ruching which is good for me and because it's for a formal occasion. It's about as structured as i shoukd go though. There are some people who would wear a dress similar to that in the daytime and look amazing but I certainly couldn't do that.

The most amazing thing was when hopefully took off all her accessories and lipstick. She's a dramatic and so has very statement jewellery and bright lips. Within seconds she went from looking absolutely stunning in a leopard print dress to looking cheap and chavvy

shopafrolic · 08/12/2013 20:52

Waves to all. DS has D&V bug :( I've spent the last three hours cleaning everything in sight. Poor little thing.
No news here. Nothing remotely fashionable occurring. Liberty's visit seems a decade ago!

santamarianovella · 08/12/2013 20:58

queen it really sounds like a very intimidating club Grin, but that VW dress was really stunning one you! It sounds nice to be ingenue though

shop poor ds and poor you! The good news is it will pass quickly, is it maybe something he ate at the party?

Mignonette · 08/12/2013 20:59

Shop That sounds rough Flowers.

That sounds interesting Queen. God only knows what I'd be. I never really wear jewellery. I don't sound like any of those categories mentioned...

I wondered that Santa but thought it was too quick? And he was a little off colour yesterday so really not sure.
He's gone to bed singing to himself so I think he feels a lot better now it's all come out! Wish I could say the same. It didn't agree with the parquet flooring dontcha know? Grin

shopafrolic · 08/12/2013 21:01

I think I'm classic dramatic mig there was that online questionnaire we all did ages back.......

shopafrolic · 08/12/2013 21:04

Oh and marsha YY to investing in frames - you'll get good CPW.....

Mignonette · 08/12/2013 21:04
