I hate NYE - one of the best things about having DC's is being able to stay in with a takeaway without having to make excuses/argue about it! We always spend it in St Ives and the whole town dresses up in fancy dress - we do a tour or two with the dc's early on and then we can relax at home - lovely! Any suggestions for my costume this year btw?

justasecond · 03/12/2013 22:14

Love the lowdown on the fash awards outfits Grin They all look ropey, what has happened to the gorgeous Yasmin Le Bon!? and how on earth is Amber Lb a model?
Dry Lovely dress, thats my fave dress shape actually.
Liberty would love to see your librarion (sp?) look, is it on your pin?
Ruby amazing tkmaxx bargain.
I have put my doubts to one side and started using my bag. I really like it and the leather just feels amazing.
Queen I like the Le pliage cuir too, I had a look at it at the weekend, v soft (perhaps too soft) leather. I might look out for it in the sale if a good enough price.
Sleep I have been good and only had 1 can of pepsi max in the last 4 days but unfortunately pmt has made me eat my body weight in cake and haagen daz ( on offer at waitrose).

libertychick · 03/12/2013 22:16

Catwoman Grin

OneLittleLady · 03/12/2013 22:19

No, not the new catwoman costume! if it has to be catwoman, it needs to be the old tv show costume Grin geeking out a bit, sorry no i'm not

Sleepwhenidie · 03/12/2013 22:19

Grin Liberty - I would love to be catwoman - but luckily unfortunately, that is my SIL's standby most years Grin!

libertychick · 03/12/2013 22:19

Justa it's on the private pin page Anni set up - not prepared to go public and out myself - sorry Smile

justasecond · 03/12/2013 22:26

Ah I see Liberty , no worries, I thought I had missed something Smile

RubyLovesShopping · 03/12/2013 22:26

I hardly ever go anywhere either, twice in 2 days is going to take huge effort for me, have booked littlest for extra nursery session on mon so I can recover Grin
ah yes NYE I detest it. Agree with whoever said that having dc means you have a great excuse, we go to friends in our village for dinner along with other friends and loads of dc running around, come home when the littlest falls asleep or has meltdown- last year this was at 8pm GrinGrin

Drywhiteplease · 03/12/2013 22:27

Sleep go as an I'm a Celebrity contestant . Red shorts, walking boots, hat with corks, fake bugs all over t shirt.
Or Marie Antoinette ....I've always fancied going the whole hog!powdered wig and beauty spot myself Xmas Grin
Or....or....or......the Mario Bros (Luigi and Mario ] with DH, go on ebay and buy 2 blue dungarees boiler suits.....I'll pin DH and DS when they went on rugby tour and won the dress up comp!!!! Easy to put together.

Drywhiteplease · 03/12/2013 22:28

Oh yes, and I hate NYE too. Always imagine a very glam party, confetti and dancing at midnight like in films......not RL though Sad in my mind I live another lifeXmas Grin

Sleepwhenidie · 03/12/2013 22:38

Ooh - liking your suggestions Liberty - much classier than my Robin to DH's batman last year (bending over was definitely not advisable in that one Blush). Yours are great too dry - can't wait to see Mario & Luigi pics Grin.

Dry Grin in my 'shopping mind' I live another life that's why I'm always drawn to lovely dresses and heels when in reality I live in jeans and biker boots.

Drywhiteplease · 03/12/2013 22:45

Me too Ruby dresses and heels fab.......born in wrong century Xmas Smile

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 03/12/2013 23:05

NYE is the one night of the year when I most definitely will not be anywhere but home in PJs, eating what's left of the Christmas chocolates and watching Jools Holland followed by London's fireworks on TV. Our house has huge windows, our sitting room is upstairs and we're on top of a hill overlooking a sizeable market town about 4 miles away, so we get a real good look of local fireworks. So much more fun than pretending to enjoy yourself in a noisy, cramped place full of strangers. Hate NYE with a passion and generally find it depressing.

Sleepwhenidie · 03/12/2013 23:12

Oh - justa - forgot to say well done on cutting down on the pepsi max! Ice cream and cake a much better idea - solely for PMT treatment of course Wink.

shopafrolic · 03/12/2013 23:29

Just back from a meal out with girlfriends. Wore new Helmut lang sweater with HL coated skinnies and ash Jalouse.
Sleep PLEASE go as WonderWoman (you'd look awesome) or members of the cast of Made in Chelsea?

shopafrolic · 03/12/2013 23:30

Another NYE hater here too. We're normally woken up by the fireworks at midnight!

QueenCadbury · 04/12/2013 07:24

Morning.

justa I wondered whether le pliage cuir was too soft too. It had been vaguely on my bag consideration list but no colour to tempt me.

sleep yes with your long blonde hair I think madonna with the big pointy bra. Or as someone else said, Wonder Woman.

No huge fan of NYE here either. This year I'm with the in laws styling in a huge house in Derbyshire. Quite looking forward to it.

I will be opting selfies at some point. Have a do on Saturday night and will wear the coast sequins. I've got a yearning to wear my black wool shorts but a, I bought them last year as the last year of my 30s and b, not sure if they will look a bit try hard tarty with sequins. I know 40 is only an arbitrary number but unless you're super confident I think there has to come a time to accept that you may be too old for something.

QueenCadbury · 04/12/2013 07:24

Opting selfies? Posting, obviously!

QueenCadbury · 04/12/2013 07:25

I'm also not styling a big house, I'm staying in one!

LinusDKD · 04/12/2013 07:41

Morning!

I am also in the 'NYE is overrated' camp. Before meeting DH I spent the bigger part of my twenties at home alone. It sounds a bit Bridget Jones but DM left me a lobster and some champagne before DP and Dsis left to go and party and I was happy to be home alone watching crap NYE tv.

But DH has a group of friends who always go out on NYE so I didn't have a choice when I met him.

But with the DC and living abroad we have the perfect excuse not to party!

queenc I agree with you that KM dresses the way she likes and it suits her. And at least she hasn't had any work done, unlike some other supermodels. I'm looking at you Cindy Crawford!

Meeeeaow! (My periods have started so I am a bit cattier than usual)

Mignonette · 04/12/2013 08:10

Not that there's anything wrong with an old Vulva per se and I guess mine will be one day. It's just that if I had to wear one on my face, it'd be a bit neater Xmas Smile.

That's my first festive smiley. Xmas Grin at Dry. Poppy/Marsha makes a beautiful 'tart'.

Queen Cannot believe they see Alexa as a worthy successor to La Moss. I guess Alexa apes that Parisien thing in their eyes but it is such an obvious choice. Justa I think the clue to Amber LB's 'success' as a 'model' is in her surname. Glad you are using that lovely bag.

Grumpy I love that Freya top-really chic and a modern reminiscence of that YSL look in the 70's with the feathers, black and chiffon. I think Veruschka was photographed in it.

I hate NYE but for the last few years I've had to go to a friends party. We have fun but I can really take it or leave it. They are all teachers, it gets a bit 'shoptalk' and I end up dragging DH home at some ungodly hour, reeking of booze, rambling bloody nonsense and its all uphill on the way back too.

Queen Those shorts sound lovely and I think you could pull it off. Would you go black tights with them or bare leg? Think La Moss is working the raddled Marianne Faithfull look- they are best mates IRL and La Moss has always been a frustrated rock star. She's ended up with a minor musician when she really wanted Keef Richards. Miaow. Do love KM though (really sounds like it judging by that bitchy comment doesn't it?)

libertychick · 04/12/2013 09:37

QueenC go for it with the shorts. You have nice legs so why not - you are younger now than you will ever be! Pin a pic if you are nervous and I promise to be honest.

I'm feeling guilty now that I said KM looks rough! It's good to have some women in the public eye just ageing as nature (and the booze!!) intended. I've been agonising over my eyes for a couple of months - I've hooded eyes and lately it's become more pronounced with one eye more hooded than the other and I have been debating getting it 'fixed'. One on hand I think 'why not' - small procedure, no general anesthetic etc but on the other I think 'sod it' these little quirks are what make us all unique! For now I've decided to leave it.
