Hi Springs.
New thread, hopefully, with the following link to our old one....

Early Spring

Joycey29 · 23/02/2014 20:55

On quiz, I come out true spring! Hurray!

RipMacWinkle · 23/02/2014 22:18

So did I Joycey, so I reckon it worked for me, but it's by no means foolproof :)

butterfliesandflowers · 23/02/2014 22:32

No, I'm pretty sure I'm not bright! So don't think it worked for me, I'm really quite low contrast!

May I ask you guys a question? One of my Boden sale bargains was a teal dress, lovely swishy skirt , quite slimming, but deffo teal so autumnal (?? Summer too but would have thought that would be a different teal and swatches with DH autumn swatches) question is, at £25 for lovely winter dress which will wear with brown boots, would you keep it???

Fooogle · 23/02/2014 22:47

Ooo gets a lot of interesting things to take in springs! So sounds like I should have at least been a blue spring to be 'confused' as a spring not jewel winter when I was CMB'd. So frustrated I lost my original swatch book with my 'best' colours though I'm sure coral was one of them so Confused and don't really recall lots of blues...maybe periwinkle...
Anyway! I'll continue to hang out if you don't mind Grin

hopefully, no not been back yet... Trying to fit into a group but not many spaces as lots of groups apparently...or need to take a friend but not sure who'd suffer my colour woes Wink... Would it seem silly to go alone?

Fooogle · 23/02/2014 22:49

butterflies, I'd probably keep it but I'm terribly acquirer of clothes! Will you always be conscious it's 'wrong'? Sometimes that stops me wearing stuff...

Aquelven · 23/02/2014 23:02

Butterflies Id definitely keep it but I'm a sucker for anything blue or turquoise toned even if it is deeper than on our swatches.

Fooogle Grin for goodness sake, stop asking if we mind!! You know we love having you on here, you belonged here before you sidled over to the dark side!
But I'm as confused as you are as to how you've been diagnosed so differently. I reckon you should be entitled to a free repeat for a second third opinion. I mean you're supposed to come away happy aren't you?

I did the quiz & came out true spring Confused. How can that be when I'm bluer than blue? Don't see how Beginner & I can be the same when she has corals, geraniums, tans etc in her best colours.

Thank you, am erring on the side of keeps but will do another Boden order ( 20% off and free del today) and see how I feel then - heck I've got a whole year to make up my mind!

Foogle please stay you are one of the team, and it's nice to have someone in as muc quandary as I usually am!
There are crossovers between all seasons and I suppose it depends what one eye sees compared to another, I certainly think lippy can be a good deciding factor but also we can throw our eye out by wearing wrong lippy for a while. I think we get used to seeing ourselves one way and anything different is odd, even if others perceive it as better - remember how odd it was to wear spring lippy at first? ( I wore autumn for a while as couldn't bring myself to go spring bright, now I wear my spring lippy daily and find it odd to not wear any!), doesn't really solve your problem but maybe get a cheap top and lippy in winter and see how you feel around the house??

Hopefully · 24/02/2014 08:55

Fooogle it wouldn't be silly at all to go back alone, I just thought if you could go into a group you would have the reassurance of other people seeing it, not just you. You could ask the consultant to not guide them too much so you get a true reaction - I quite often don't even need to actually say anything when I'm analysing - the client and the other people in the room do it for me, as it's something visible, not something I'm having to give my opinion on.

Fooogle · 24/02/2014 11:43

Thanks butterflies and hopefully...yes, would prefer it to be in a group but just also want to get it done and no spaces seem to be coming up in groups... I will ask again Grin. Would you expect me to pay again if I came into a group or leave early or something? It all feels a bit delicate!
hopefully Is sprinter winter and jewel winter the same? My ** at 100% were electric blue, fuschia, magenta, raspberry, lagoon blue, Chinese blue and scarlet. 75's were charcoal, indigo, navy, royal purple, royal blue, light emerald, ice blue, ice pink. I'm terrified of the bright pinks as I feel a bit muttony despite finding bright coral easy enough.
Its funny as I think I kind of blended into my spring colours as quite a yellow skin tone (I think?!) so I could wear bright but also be hidden?!

EustaciaVye · 24/02/2014 14:22

Looking at the links to a True Spring....there isnt much blue. I have lots of blue on my swatches from CMB. what does that mean?

Aquelven · 24/02/2014 14:31

I don't know, Eustacia. I thought that too with having so many ** blues.

I've heard that coral & some of our greens are supposed to be "in" colours for this summer so perhaps there'll be lots of choice in the shops Smile

Someone on the winter thread put a link on to these scarves.
I love the crochet edged, owl & dog ones except they haven't got my breeds Sad

OP posts:
Mumelie · 24/02/2014 15:29

Think the site I linked to was not as in depth as a proper analysis Eustacia - I would take with a pinch of salt. There are blues mentioned at the bottom of the page for True Spring though.
Sun is shining here today, making me think about getting some brighter colours out and putting away the jumpers and puffa coat I seem to have been wearing for months Grin Yay!

EustaciaVye · 24/02/2014 15:46

I cant seem to get excited by clothes shopping at the moment. I think the cold, wet weather has seriously affected my ability to look forward to those lovely spring colours.

Wearing navy jeans, navy top, coral cardigan

BeginnerSAHM · 24/02/2014 20:55

I know what you mean about the weather... But there was some sunshine and birdsong during my 'fitness' session today outside. (It was almost pleasant....Wink)

Off to NY on Wed (for a friend's big birthday celebrations) so am frantically looking through my wardrobe now to see what I really 'need' Grin. Quite hard to think of warmer weather but happy to think of cooler weather. Given it is cool or cold for most of the year. Got to plan dinner/cocktail/shopping and opera outfits too. Hmm again. That'll be mostly skinny indigo jeans and heels or flat tan biker-ish boots. Although not sure about opera.

Going to buy a bit of Laura mercier make-up there too I reckon. Well, it would be silly not to Blush...

Aquelven · 24/02/2014 21:01

Sounds exciting, Beginner. Have a great time Smile

Gillybobs · 24/02/2014 21:01

Oh the MAC makeup is so cheap there too! Lucky you, I can't wait to go back!

BeginnerSAHM · 24/02/2014 22:08

Maybe I'll even try your springy mac lippy recommendations (again!) gillybobs! Thanks! Grin

Gillybobs · 24/02/2014 22:17

There are some good revlon lippys that are about two quid each there, coral berry springs to mind

BeginnerSAHM · 24/02/2014 22:43

Lovely... Thanks Gilly!

Joycey29 · 25/02/2014 20:59

Just bought two (same style diff size)
of the aqua knitwear stripy jumper.
Will keep you all posted!
Thanks for 20% off top

Fooogle · 25/02/2014 21:30

Just ordered a couple of (winter!) supima cardigans from landsend with extra 25% off until midnight? Code COMEBACK. Someone before was looking at them and there may well be springy colours... Good basics?

Hopefully · 26/02/2014 08:25

Fooogle Sprinter and Jewel are slightly different, but both at the brighter end of the Winter palette. Sprinter Winters are pretty unusual. You'll have to ask your consultant about paying again. I would probably ask for a contribution to lunch or something but not charge (assuming we were just draping you to season again, not rating and doing make up etc), but there's no hard and fast rule for that sort of thing - best thing to do is ask your consultant.

Eustacia I think the reason there aren't many blues for a true spring palette (I assume you're talking about something 12 seasons based) is that once you start narrowing your palette down to only 1/12 of the colours rather than 1/4 of them, you start eliminating all of those that are, theoretically, good-but-not-amazing on you. What I've found in reality is that quite often someone who is a typical true spring or blue autumn or whatever actually has one or two amazing colours from a completely different part of the palette, which is one of the reasons I don't think that a 12 season system is necessarily the best idea ever. Also because I find it too limiting for real life! Being limited to only your wow colours is lovely, but means that having a functioning wardrobe can get tricky, IMO. In terms of the CMB palette, I would also add that IME they have quite a wide range of colours within each palette and not all of them will work on you amazingly. But that might only be the case with the couple I've seen, having draped people who have had both CMB and HoC. I don't know enough about how they put their palettes together to comment properly really.

Fooogle · 26/02/2014 09:25

Ramble alert...
Thanks Hopefully. I went back yesterday in the end as she had a sudden booking for one person anyway so I popped in near the end. The other lady was a Summer. I wish I could get to a group with some warm palettes to really get a contrast but hey, you can't have everything! Grin
I think she did say Jewel not sprinter.
It was interesting re-draping as I saw that some of the spring palette didn't look awful (though interestingly we didn't 'do' any yellows which I was wearing a lot) so perhaps that's why I've not felt completely 'wrong' all these years?! clutching straws at why I couldn't tell but the winters did look better...Still all feels a bit dark though and def more limited as when you take out yellow you can't then get orange or brown in your palette?
Now, do I try to dye all those cashmere jumpers I have acquired in spring colours through much charity shop rummaging?!
We didn't do any makeup this time. Do you have any thoughts Hopefully on winter makeup for blue eyes? (usually you are told to use the opposite colour to your eye colour aren't you but that'd be orangey so not v.winter).

BeginnerSAHM · 26/02/2014 10:03

Hi Fooogle - sounds like a useful session anyway! I'd wear grey eyeshadows with blue eyes or a sparkly white as a highlight colour maybe? And cashmere should dye beautifully, especially to winter colours. Black is the obvious one but you could do navy, a forest green or a purple. You'll have to stick to darker ones so the spring colours don't come through - so no ice colours... Good luck!
