aque enjoy your shoe hunt!

Beginner I've been on a dying mission with couple of cashmere things... Mixed results. Dylon machine dye doesn't say can use on wool but the bucket type one does...not sure why?
I tried one dylon but nothing happened which was annoying! Then tried a brand called 'rit' which I bought online. That has 'taken' though not super saturated. Think you'd have to beware you didn't just turn things sludge colour. Can you do dark brown over orange? Not as useful as navy perhaps but closer colour family...
I used vinegar as well... Loads of googling occurred...!

Vinegar?
Is that to make it colourfast, same as salt?

I think so? No salt for wool. Also needs heat but it's a balancing act to not felt it or shrink it.,. But a good adventure!

Oh are you off on hols Joycey?
I found some great bright coloured ones in Bravissimo last year.

Ooh that sounds interesting, Joycey Smile
I'm going away next weekend too but don't think I'll be needing a bikini in Scotland.

Tried these today! no support at all.

And these . Hard as iron, very uncomfortable, so the search goes on.

Did buy a lightweight navy summer jacket in Debenhams, can't link as it isn't on the website, was in the sale.

Can I join in to the springness? I thought I would be an autumn but have been diagnosed as a golden blue spring! Going to be starting from scratch I think with a post baby wardrobe once the last few lbs are off Smile

Welcome petal and stars!! Golden and blue spring eh?! Sounds intriguing... So the yellow colours and the blue colours in the palette suit you best?

Do you like the spring palette?? I think I prefer summer slightly but the spring one is pretty good Wink.

petalsandstars · 30/03/2014 14:08

Thanks Beginner, yes I think so, a lot of in the blues and turquoise and aquamarine, also the cinnamon and terracotta.

I do like the palette although it wasn't what I was expecting, I tend to go for the autumn colours so the brights are going to take a bit of getting used to. Itching to get shopping now so I guess its a good time to be a spring with that season coming into the shop now.

Hmm! Unusual but sounds nice! Yes - great time to shop for spring colours. Buy a few vests/long sleeved t-shirts and even plain jumpers in spring colours now as you can wear them for most of the year. I'd be slightly wary of going too crazy on the brights though. Depends what you feel comfortable with but I regret 'forcing' myself to buy more spring colours that I feel quite uncomfortable in (a year after being 'diagnosed'). I'm happy to wear a coral t-shirt or bright Kelly green jumper - with dark jeans or something - but not keen on contrasting brights (which is what I am 'supposed' to do as a 'bright spring'). I also feel v mumsy in some bright spring coloured scarves I've bought... But don't let my bah-humbugging put you off! I still think the palette works well for me - just don't like overdosing on the brights personally!! Enjoy the shopping!!

Hello Petals Smile
Never heard of that one, golden blue spring. Should think it gives you lots of good colours.
Beginner is right, about not jumping into the deep end of the CeeBeebies look! T shirts, scarves & lipstick are good starting points. To get a quick, cheap feel of the colours to start with Primark have a really good selection of surprisingly decent quality tops in a good range of spring colours, the t shirts around £3.
Did your consultant give you lots of guidance?
We've an older thread as well as this one, link on first post of this one, if you want to read.

Ooh thanks aquelven I'll definitely check out primark to start off with.

I didn't get a huge amount of guidance tbh about which colours to wear together, she said to think of 1/2 neutrals and a bright splash of colour. But I was towards the end of my group and we ran over time. She's been answering my email queries though so I guess if I can't work it out then I can ask that way.

I have cleared out a bin bag full of black/unsuitable clothes for the charity shop and surprisingly there are still some things left in my wardrobe!

Also considering getting some dylon to dye my white summer skirts to something springy rather than get rid.

Hi Springs and welcome Petals Grin
Been a bit AWOL recently with lots of family stuff. The lovely weather has got me thinking of summer outfit combinations and have enjoyed wearing the few new bits I've recently bought.
What do you need the swimwear for Joycey? local pool or hols? I've just ordered a fab looking swim suit from Boden in bright blue. I'll let you know what it's like when it arrives. comes in loads of bright spring colours. In the sale at the mo.

Had a rummage in the charity shops this morning when I dropped off my bag and found two m&s tops one violet and one turquoise so not bad to try the colours

Sorry, Joycey, can't be much help about swimsuits.

Good find, Petals. The charity shops in my small nearest market town are dire, mostly well worn, farmers best suits & tatty paperbacks.

I've still got M&S gift tokens from Christmas burning a hole in my pocket & can't find anything to buy with them.

The Boden swimsuit I ordered arrived - Its the twist front one in bright blue (sorry no linky from phone). Its lovely (this I rarely say about swimwear). I ordered the long in a 12 as I usually find swimsuits too short - will be going back for a regular length - but that is all that is wrong. Pulls in the mum tum really well. I am a 32G and need serious support so was wary of just an elastic shelf (plus a size 12 won't often cover) but feel secure and everything is in the right place! Wink Highly recommended!
