Hi Springs.
New thread, hopefully, with the following link to our old one....

Early Spring

Aquelven · 23/02/2014 10:12

Thank you for that link, Gilly
Yes, I'm one of the natural ingenues so I'm going to have a good read of it later when I have time.

Hopefully Thank you once more Smile
I can fully grasp how a Blue Spring is getting towards the cusp, as it were, much more neutral than average & leaning towards a cool season. Is there a way of telling which way we are more likely to be drifting, towards summer or winter? By hair/eye colour(as we all seem to have very pallid skin) or by which colours we were ** at?
I know it's difficult without seeing us, just wondered if there was a more "likely" one. Although I realise we just have to go with the recommendations for best colours, I think it would be interesting to know.

Hi QueenCadbury it's nice to have visitors Smile apart from the ones who come to say we are all misguided fools

Eustacia I think they're as butterflies has described, except that I didn't know till yesterday that there was a Pastel Spring. I don't know what Paintbox implies, bright??

Aque without seeing and draping you, the best I could go on would be your * and at 100% and your * at 75% colours. Should give a rough indication though. The main benefit, as I think lots of you have discovered, of the colours isn't exactly to know which season you are 'closer' to, but to know where you can push the boundaries a bit more. So if you in lots of blues and greys, the chances are that if you slipped into some of the blues and greys from other seasons, as long as they tone with your colours and, crucially, look good with your skin, they will work. However, if you only have one tick at 25% for something, drifting away from that colour will make it even worse, so slipping into, say, an autumn yellow will look really quite bad if you are a blue spring who has * at 100% for lots of blues, greys, bright pinks etc but only has one tick at 25 for corn yellow.

I am a firm believer in colour analysis being a starting point, and giving you the tools to spot the full range of your best colours by learning how your skin looks in, as it were the 'perfect' colours (i.e. the precision dyed drapes, which allow you to see the difference between different palettes). Strangely enough, I credit you with enough intelligence to do that, rather than mindlessly follow an 'inaccurate' system forever more without ever glancing in a mirror... Grin

Apologies for all the bolds, happens when I do two stars sometimes!

Aquelven · 23/02/2014 12:01

Thanks Hopefully Yes, it was the where we could push it s bit that interested me as, no matter how hard you try, you sometimes just can't find anything that looks exactly right for your season in the shops. You know it's probably a bit more Summer blue than Spring, but there's nothing suitable in the right shade.
My two stars at 100% are Dove Grey, Oxford Blue, Leaf Green, Violet, Hyacinth , Aqua, Turquoise & Aquamarine (all very blue!) & two stars at 75% are Bright Navy, Coral, Poppy, & Bright Blue
My worst rated, 25% with ticks, just one star , or BW only are Tangerine, Honey, Terracotta, Cinnamon, Canary Yellow, Shocking Pink with two stars at 25% for Chocolate.

Do you think this would be drifting to summer or winter.?I'm very pale, Mac NW15, with very white blonde hair( own colour, my consultant didn't need to cover it as it was virtually the same colour as her cap Shock ) & turquoise eyes.

OP posts:
Hopefully · 23/02/2014 12:49

That is very blue! You've got quite a mix of softer and brighter colours there, but I'd take a stab, with the hair/eyes description that you'd probably be looking at leaning closer to Winter - I'm thinking of a Winter consultant we have who is white blonde and has very bright eyes. Don't hold me to it though!

Gillybobs · 23/02/2014 13:44

Welcome QueenC, lovely to have visitors, I think it's really useful to read the other threads sometimes. I do lean towards winter colours at times (my friend who writes the blog above re draped me recently and I can rock some of the winter bright pinks) but when I lurk on the winter threads and see all the talk of pine green I'm reminded I'm a spring first and foremost! You are a sprinter aren't you, so my nearest neighbour I guess, I bet with your blonde hair you look at first glance more springy than I do!

Aquelven · 23/02/2014 14:01

It's funny how we can look anything but typical isn't it? I'd never have guessed spring or that the other blonde girl on my day was autumn yet her red haired sister summer!
I lurk on the other threads too Gilly. Sometimes there are links to really lovely things that come in our colours as well as theirs.

Hopefully thank you again for replying, that's very helpful. I really need blue to come into fashion in the shops! Grin
Does the white/blonde consultant have a facebook page? I know some of them do & they be a really helpful read. What is her name, I could see if she googles.

QueenCadbury · 23/02/2014 14:05

Thanks for the welcome. Yes, I'm a sprinter so definitely leaning into towards spring.

Hands up all you natural ingenues. I'm an ingenue natural too.

Aquelven · 23/02/2014 14:09

Me too, so waving madly Grin

Gillybobs · 23/02/2014 14:21

Rom classic here but I posted a link to my friends blog above, she is an natural ingenue summer who writes a colour analysis blog (she's independent rather than with hoc or CMB)

MrsPeacockDidIt · 23/02/2014 14:59

Well as all my ** colours are same as Aque and our not so good colours are the same too AND our coloring is very similar I'm going to go out on a limb and guess I'm very blue too!

I have no idea what style type I am though. My style day is in a few weeks. Natural will almost certainly be my main one I think but intrigued to find out more.

Anyone have a link to a good place for the style type descriptions? I'd love to have a bit of a guess before I get analysed Grin

butterfliesandflowers · 23/02/2014 15:10

Have just found this on the 12 blueprints site, may help some with the light vs bright??? 12blueprints.com/comparing-light-and-bright-spring/

butterfliesandflowers · 23/02/2014 15:12

oh and I'm in the ingénue club just more romantic!

EustaciaVye · 23/02/2014 15:13

My cmb colours sound similar to yours aque but I have lots of green and red as well as lots blue, and a few pinks and oranges. Charcoal, navy and taupe are my neutrals but I hate taupe with a passion. So I can totally get the clear and warm definition I have. Think I need to google the hoc palettes to compare with my own.
Thanks everyone.

Joycey29 · 23/02/2014 16:49

Random comment - but does being a colour consultant pay?
Looking for a career change....

Mumelie · 23/02/2014 16:59

Hi MrsP this is a good link mentioned on here before with the style types on.
I'm a Classic Ingenue - think the first one is from body shape (all the measurements they take and if you are curvy or straight) the second is more to do with your personality (please someone correct me if I have this the wrong way round!).
Great talk about edging towards winter colours and what a typical Blue/Bright Spring might be. I'm totally different with mid brown hair, darker green eyes (with hazel in) and medium sallow skin that tans easily. I was a dyed blonde when I had my analysis done - I know hair is covered - but I feel my colours look much better on me now I have gone back to my natural colour. The yellows, tans, etc were the worst in the palette for me so I guess Blonde hair would be wrong too!
I'm trying to guess my daughter and husband at the moment - think they are both Soft Summers ( used this online test as a rough guide). It comes out right for me - anyone else?

EustaciaVye · 23/02/2014 17:41

That quiz gave me True Spring....What's that then?

BeginnerSAHM · 23/02/2014 18:11

I'm a natural ingenue too!! Body shape is the last bit...Wink

Hopefully · 23/02/2014 18:14

Joycey you'll never get rich doing it, I promise that! I love it so much I'd do it for free if I could afford to though, I find it hugely rewarding.

Mumelie · 23/02/2014 18:19

Thanks Beginner wasn't sure I had it right!
Think a True Spring is here - not sure what that equals in HOC or CMB - looks like Warm Spring - not going towards summer or winter?

butterfliesandflowers · 23/02/2014 18:30

the quiz made me true / bright spring dep on if hot pink suits me or not! (is shocking pink hot pink? if so I am bright spring as was a * colour!)

BeginnerSAHM · 23/02/2014 18:51

I'm bright spring according to that quiz. Figures... Double stars are a couple of blues/turquoises, coral, geranium, Kelly green, one of the yellows (!), chocolate and tan (bleugh - reminds me of dog's poo unless it's a bag or boots/shoes and leather!). And I've given myself navy too Wink. (Consultant gave me double star at 75% but there we are...)

JewelleryObsessed · 23/02/2014 20:27

Comes in to wave at Gillybobs and the natural ingénues/ingénue naturals

Gillybobs · 23/02/2014 20:39

J is that you confused my mumsnet name?

Gillybobs · 23/02/2014 20:42

Sorry, using asterix doesn't work well does it? I was trying to establish if that is the lovely lady who wrote the blog I linked to above, she's a wonderful natural ingenue and could be handy for the other nat Ings to know!
