Tops that don't make busty women look frumpy!

Help?!

Everything seems to look frumpy on my large boobs, unless it's tight and then I just look tarty!

Need some day tops for wearing under cardies and now terrified jumpers are going to look dreadful too.

I hate my J's Sad

This also looked fab on me (and now it's reduced I would buy it except I'm pregnant so it won't fit now!) Despite being high necked, the white edging down the centre visually separates my boons and the slightly puffed sleeves and flared skirt help balance everything out. It looked lovely. Comes in grey too.

For me being slim everywhere else is essential or I do look a bit matronly if I keep my weight down and wear a decent bra I can wear most things. But extra weight = mumsy

Sonotkylie · 19/10/2013 14:55

OK you lot, get back on the point ...Feminism, Hattie - where next?
I am going to not help at all by saying, I can't wear dresses - narrow body and shoulders, big boobs (30G) and long waist. Waistlines cut across my nipples. Cowls make me a bit perplexed. Slash necks look wrong. BUT I love shirts ideally with camisole, vest or long sleeve T shirt under - then you can leave the buttons undone to between the boobs creating deep v neck and not worrying about gape (you do need to try on lots to find some with the buttons in the right place). I also love waistcoats which can help give a good v and make you feel less 'exposed'.
I suppose my point is that while its easy to say 'big boobs = XY or Z' as a dressing solution, actually we all vary very much in the rest of our outline - tummy, shoulders, general width, height etc. So there is no escape - you have to take all the advice and try it out and find your solution. Otherwise, its like dressing solely according to your shoe size. But you've had so much good advice, one of them at least will work. Good luck

Oh,I love that dress evertonmint

Edam I agree it doesn't fit the model - her cup size is too small, any bra will give overspill if the cup size is too small and it doesn't necessarily follow that because the model is wearing a bra that is too small that the bra is at fault, it certainly fits me without overspill and gives me an amazing shape and stops my ample boobs from looking frumpy.

PervCat · 19/10/2013 15:47

SNOWLIKE that is THE bra - is amazing, such a nice shape

PervCat · 19/10/2013 15:50

it is the best bra ever though - i have had them for about 5 years. PLus the black one is opaque enough to wear under sheer shirts.
i got this highly flammable shirt du soir and can wear it under that

noddyholder · 19/10/2013 15:54

DO I need to re measure for fantasie bra?

PervCat · 19/10/2013 15:55

i dunno. order a few. the shape is up and rounded over the top so your boobs look pert and not like saggy old water bags

sassytheFIRST · 19/10/2013 15:56

NO good for those of us who can hide mnetters in our cups tho

PervCat · 19/10/2013 15:57

or cheese

noddyholder · 19/10/2013 15:59

I always wear per una bras Shock best non mumsy shape I have found but mostly quite fancy only ever found one plainish one

moosemama · 19/10/2013 16:15

I'm a 34HH and find layering up these tops from Next is my best option for daywear. They do quite a few colours and are on a multi-buy offer as well, so very affordable.

I have them in white, navy, black, prune (darkish purple), grey, blue and pink.

I know Next aren't all that popular on here, but for basics, rather than distinctive styles or trends I think they're fine.

I was concerned that the neckline might be a bit too high when I first ordered them but it's actually just right for me. They also have the advantage of coming in petite, regular and tall, which is great for someone like me who is longer bodied and sick of tops exposing my lower back when I bend.

I find slash and boat necks don't flatter me as they tend to create a sort of shelf effect where the fabric sits across my boobs. It just doesn't look right on me.

I do however have a couple of cowl necks, which is a surprise to me, as I've always steered away from them in the past, but these particular ones seem to flatter for some reason.

Snowlike · 19/10/2013 16:17

I don't normally measure to buy bras I usually order a few different cup sizes and back sizes when my weight fluctuates, if I have to send one back, I might as well send 5 back, I try them on at home under my tightest fitting t shirt - so no danger of double boobing! I machine wash them too and they last for bloody ages.

noddyholder · 19/10/2013 16:18

Like that you can machine wash them and they last!

Snowlike · 19/10/2013 16:28

V neck cashmere jumpers from Uniqlo are great too. The v isn't too deep and they are cosy, so no need to wear a top underneath, which can often make boobs look more mono.

thenightsky · 19/10/2013 16:41

That bra is dog's bollux. I've got 2 in black and 2 in nude. They give THE most perfect shape under clothes.

PervCat · 19/10/2013 19:16

www.figleaves.com/uk/product/FE-4520/Smoothing-underwired-balconette-bra/?size=&colour=

t hink i might have the moulded one too somwhere

PervCat · 19/10/2013 19:17

its the balconette thats good

noddyholder · 19/10/2013 20:52

Much prefer those to the moulded I think the other ones are like egg boxes. Going to buy those all the colours thanks

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/10/2013 21:05

The moulded ones terrify me - a small child could use one cup as a bed in the size I'd need. I usually have the Fantasie lacy ones but I like the look of the plain one.

Snowlike · 19/10/2013 21:19

The moulded ones are essential, it's the support needed to make your boobs look amazing and it's balconette that works - off to look, I may have ordered the wrong one...multiple bra orders on their way!!

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 19/10/2013 21:22

Oh,remus, seriously try moulded!I won't wear any bra that isn't shaped/moulded.They really are the bees!
