Dry, please be appeased that speaking with a Yorkshire accent is different in my mind from 'speaking Yorkshire' which means dropping 'the' all the time. I don't want an online argument unless its over clothes. In which case I am happy to trash many celebrities dress sense. I do love Yorkshire. My best friends and DH are born and bred Yorkshiremen.

Umlauf · 03/09/2013 08:39

Morning everyone. I'm loving the links!

sleep I too love the IRO jacket, beautiful colour. Enjoy your hair appointment, what are you having done?
Hello kalidasa and well done for getting back to your pre preg weight. I've put on 3 stone (gulp) and am both dreading and excited for the hard work I'm going to need to put in to lose it.
linus those boots are incredible, what a find!
one your DH sounds lovely and thoughtful.

When I met DH he was into Oasis in a big way, and his piece de resistance was an oversized dirty parka, which he wore with really baggy jeans with "dolce and gabbana" written on them in what looked like tipped, graffiti style (I highly doubt the jeans had anything whatsoever to do with d&g!) Horrible! they're lost now...

The whistles tube skirt has arrived with the Made necklace, and they're lovely. I'm not going to actually try the skirt until post birth on for fear of a breakdown, but it seems strong enough fabric to do enough hoicking and still allow for breathing!

I'm having a but of a skirt moment, inspired in part by amber and her blog, so I've been fantasy shopping. My normal figure is very exaggerated (like a lumpier Jessica rabbit) so I've always been a bit nervous of skirts. I like the idea of this shape Lanvin or Stella (does anyone know what it's called? It's not peplum is it? Fit&flare?) and just won this whistles one on eBay to try the shape out - and it has leopard print - bonus! Also LOVE this whistles one , (what's the betting it will still be in stores in December when I'm back in the UK?!) and this Christopher Kane . Reminiscent of your camo skirt days, amber ?!!

My spirals have been despatched! I was convinced the order would be cancelled...

Has anyone ever bought from Vestaire Collectif? I have a friend working there now and she finds some incredible things there, but I can't quite get my head around how the whole thing works.

BrandyAlexander · 03/09/2013 09:00

Hi Shop, yes I am coming. Did you get my pm? If not then I have outed myself to someone elseBlushShock

shopafrolic · 03/09/2013 09:15

No PM Novice - have just checked my inbox again - nothing.....

OP posts:
Sleepwhenidie · 03/09/2013 09:16

mom sorry, I sort of lied about the IRO jacket, it does come in monochrome I also think the Outnet one I linked is on MW full price Shock.

Forgot to say I love those Dries boots too Linus, so satisfying when you find something like that at the back of the wardrobe Smile.

Queen I missed the dress, must go back and find link...

Umlauf I have very boring, long blonde highlighted hair, with, since last November-ish, a fringe. I usually get it coloured every six weeks but summer holidays mean it is more like 9-10 now so I am horrified by it. Need to knock back the blonde as the sun has bleached it even more and decide whether to keep the fringe or grow it out (it's so long now that it would be a good time to grow). Also need a couple of inches off at least. DH hates it when I cut my hair (yes I know I sound like a 50's housewife) but I used to be really adventurous.Sad

shopafrolic · 03/09/2013 09:22

Umlauf - Sleep has beautiful long blonde hair and is a stunner

Right - 11 of us confirmed for the MU - Mom is joining us too!
I will speak to a few places and get something booked and then PM everyone.

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 03/09/2013 09:33

Sleep yes definitely a stunner! Am interested to hear what you decide to do with the fringe Sleep. A big decision. But then I have realised that there's only one cut I can do and small differences seem big.

Love those skirts Umlauf especially the Stella M one.

MarshaBrady · 03/09/2013 09:34

Good work Shop!

Great news Momin. Will be lovely to see you again.

needastrongone · 03/09/2013 09:58

Love the leopard print skirt from Whistles Umlauf.

Thank you for the further welcomes, the doggy is indeed a cutey, thank you shop.

Do you all have young DC then? Mine are slightly older at 12 and 13, less needy but still time consuming I find with their interests.

I am in Yorkshire too, and know 'Yorkshire speaking' doctors and some 'wot speak proper posh'! Smile I think I probably have the Yorkshire accent but don't drop too many letters. Thankfully, the DC seem to be the same.

'Tis so warm here that I got changed this morning from jumper and skinnies, bought this at the weekend from M&S Limited Edition so stuck it on with a short denim skirt and black tights, although it will work well with trusted skinnies too. Must say, it looks foul online but looked so fab on the hanger I veered over to look (was with DS on a shoe shopping mission). Note that it's 'as seen in Vogue' so I must be on trend Smile

I need a winter coat, I have my dog walking, standing in a field watching rugby/pony club activities North Face black puffa type but nothing else. Although, with my life, whether I could justify something elegant and stylish for the use it would get is debatable!

needastrongone · 03/09/2013 10:01

Oh, I meant to ask - if I were to subscribe to one style magazine, which would you choose or is Pinterest the way to go?

MarshaBrady · 03/09/2013 10:11

Pinterest definitely Needastrongone. But I also like Vogue of course!

Follow us, it's good. Here's mine. We can follow you too.

MrsRadicchio · 03/09/2013 10:12

Hello to all newbies

Sleep I think your fringe looks great. V envious of those who can carry them off.

Umlauf great shopping and links. I really like that Christopher Kane skirt, swoon.

A bit behind on some of the questions. I don't remember what DH and I were wearing when we first met (as we were drunk, outside a club, classy) but on our first date I do remember. I wore a pretty dull outfit of breton, jeans, converse and a gap puffa coat (it was January) and DH wore jeans, yellow t-shirt, stripey cardigan and long wool coat. I asked DH if he remembered any, he said "I remember you were wearing your duvet" (aka gap coat).

Loved reading some of your stories, some sound v romantic - like the meeting at work ones, and also shop's half hour meet up lasting all night.

Linus I have bought those baxters too. Great bargain.

Shop, probably not the kind of place you would shop but have you looked at pure collection for jumpers?

MrsRadicchio · 03/09/2013 10:35

Queen I meant to add re your 40th - isn't that the time when you can get an outfit you only wear once? Something you feel fab in. Guess you could ebay / dress agency after?

Or if that doesn't sit well then a wow black dress which can be worn in different ways for other events.

What a shame your DH doesn't like that one you linked, it is stunning.

Have you considered a maxi dress or is that not really your style?

not your colour but shapewise?

I've had a quick whizz around the outnet.

Final post from me:

I have a candy apple revlon lip butter which does not suit me (it is an orangey red, quite shiny) - does anyone want it? I have only used it a couple of times.

shopafrolic · 03/09/2013 11:09

Needastrongone my Pin here
I subscribe to Harper's Bazaar, buy Vogue 4 / 5 times a year and InStyle when SS or AW starts........ but Pin is fab (and free!)
MrsR love the colour block jumper, but am after something with some chunk. Vince sweater is out for delivery so will report back soon.
Umlauf I love that Lanvin skirt you linked - gorgeous. I'm hoping this tube skirt will come in more Autumnul colours.
would be wearing this if I was 20

Morning all!
And what a glorious day for all mommies Grin

marsha to answer your coat question,I will be wearing my black gucci coat, old but still good,it's one of their classic designs that appear every season, and this grey burberry one, also my navy moncler down coat, for those freezing mornings,

mrsR love the links, the Marni dress is gorgeous, and I totally agree,40th shoud be celebrated with a great dress,I didn't get to celebrate my 30th,so I plan to do a very big 40th bash in ten years time

sleep I ordered the iro jacket and the marant one to try, good luck on your appointment,

needastrongone def Pinterest, i hardly buy any mags, unless its has an interesting story.

shop will pm about the MU

dry good luck! Will miss your morning posts Sad

So,I've been reading good things about coconut water, and how it's good for energy levels, decided to give it a go this morning,I almost got sick in the street! Had to stop and lean myself on a lamp post, close my eyes and take deep breaths and wait for the nausea to ease Shockit reminded me of my morning sickness days , no wonder models and celebs are addicted to it,you can eat like a horse and with one sip,get rid of it.

Sorry for the tmi, but had to do my duty and report.

Sleepwhenidie · 03/09/2013 11:55

An thanks for the compliments guys Blush, not feeling too stunning at the moment, just back from kickboxing, first exercise in about 6 weeks, thought I might pass out/throw up! Now very red and sweaty. Shower and hair appointment should make me feel better...think I will keep the fringe for now and go a bit more caramel blonde like this.

Santa I love coconut water, but not for the throwing up Grin - I think it's delicious! Quite an expensive habit though. Hope you like the jackets. Are you coming to MU? I want to see if we turn up in virtually the same outfit Grin!

Queen definitely go for the dress you feel most fabulous in, don't worry about whether you will wear it again, there may not be loads of occasions but if it makes you feel amazing you will manage to find some - red Acne voice of experience Wink.

strongone there's quite a range of DC ages on here, I think Mig's are the most grown up, iirc Grumpy and Queen's are a bit older Anni has an older DSD (apologies if I've got any of this wrong) and quite a few of us have pre-schoolers and babies. Mine are 8,5 and 3.

Re coats, I have my Maje parka (warm but no good in the rain) and waxed Whistles parka for everyday wear but the latter didn't wear that well through last winter. I am tempted by a hooded Barbour (need to find link) as it will be properly waterproof but in the past I have really been turned off by the wannabe country farmer look so I hesitate....

Sleepwhenidie · 03/09/2013 12:02

this Barbour, not the most stylish or beautiful but I need a practical coat!

Umlauf · 03/09/2013 12:05

shop that's the whistles skirt I received this morning. I'd love it in more autumnal colours (I'm an autumn!) but atterley road has it in black and white stripe which is nice.

shop and marsha I've followed you on Pinterest. I don't use mine for clothes much, just for crafty things, but might start especially in these boring maternity leave weeks

sleep your hair sounds very nice. My DH is the same about me cutting mine, and I am terrified to have it done in Spain in case something gets lost in translation, after a horrible experience with a mullet (or Fem-mullet as I called it!) in Italy, so I only get mine done twice a year Shock so it's not looking too hot. I love a fringe though!
