Thanks Mig I'll try that.

mignonette · 10/09/2013 21:47

Queen That might be a good idea. What do others think? I'm cool if you all think 'Jeez, that's too much like hard work' and don't do it!

I'd love to write. I have taken on the Local Editorship of my area for MN because it offers a small window of opportunity to write/edit/research and am taking baby steps towards changing my career or at least doing something fresh. I am currently researching a blog/website based around oral history interviews from people who have immigrated to the UK. It'll be about their culinary traditions, how they meld them w/ UK traditions, recipes, interesting ingredients, all about various cultural traditions and festivals etc. Loads to research and need to learn how to create a blog site/import pictures/graphics etc.

When I am closer to going live I'll do a private pinboard for you all to critique my graphics/logo/writing etc if you'd do that?

MarshaBrady · 10/09/2013 21:48

Anni next week hopefully. Fingers crossed all goes well. I was cold in the park tonight. The weather always seems to change so suddenly from hot to cold and coats.

Sleepwhenidie · 10/09/2013 21:53

I can make you feel better Anni, DS2 has, just today, taken to saying "bloody hell" in an exasperated, end of his patience tone can't imagine where he picked that up from Blush. And he goes back to nursery tomorrow Hmm.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 10/09/2013 21:57

wow amost 2 feet wide and over 6ft long, cashmere for under £60! Affordable luxury.

mignonette · 10/09/2013 22:00

Marsha I looked at various fashion sites to look at ideas for grouping trends. The 'Dark Arts' title was nicked from Elle I think but I re wrote the text. The other titles are my make ups but I had to get ideas over categories.

it is really hard to guard against sublimal regurgitating of something you have already read....

Glad the babysitting has worked out too Marsha. It's been so long since I had to use BBsitting and i remind myself regularly of just how stressful finding childcare was for me and likely is for all of you. I would always help if I could despite never having met any of you.

I still cannot fall asleep until all my chicks are in their nest (only one left now). I just cannot drop off and my mind runs through all kinds of terrible scenarios of accidents/abductions/harm even though neither of my two drink, use drugs or even large it whilst out. They are pretty sedate really. But you spend nineteen, twenty years guarding your chicks w/ every fibre of your being then they go out as adults and some swine breaks their heart. That is tough as a parent, seeing your child lose in love.

Shop You should have heard what my 18 month old DD came out w/ after her Dad crashed the gears and let out an expletive beginning w/ F. She chanted it all the way home. For fifty miles. With my Grandmother in the car who never let an opportunity to criticise and undermine my parenting go. She'd never had children of her own; my Mother was fostered informally by her in the forties and she was afforded the role of our grandparent because that is all we had. She was vile to me and my Mother in turn when I was small.Fortunately we emigrated to Central America when I was two so her influence was arrested for a few years.

Drywhiteplease · 10/09/2013 22:00

Marsha good news on the job front..and yes loads of free clothes and great discounts I couldn't use because I was skint
QC such a great idea...you'll be great at that.
*Shop" will get Grazia, sounds interesting.

Sleepwhenidie · 10/09/2013 22:01

Blimey Mig, great quiz but it might take all day tomorrow to respond - good job it's my first day without any DC's to attend to Grin.

Marsha your project sounds exciting!

Well done on your changes too Queen.

Mig that sounds so interesting and exciting! Would love to critique your pin board when it is ready Smile.

mignonette · 10/09/2013 22:02

Grumpy That is bargainous. I like the rich nut brown (not so often you see this shade in scarves) and the dark blue. In fact i like them all.

mignonette · 10/09/2013 22:03

Thank you Sleep. Honest critique is what I'll need.

Annianni · 10/09/2013 22:04

Sleep :o he's come out with that lately, along with 'Oh God'
Think he's been listening to me and Dh bickering about the decorating.
Luckily he's only said those things a couple of times.

Grumpy I now need that scarf in burgundy!!!

shopafrolic · 10/09/2013 22:11

Dry I thought you had it? The one with the Jaeger code? Catherine and Michael split on the cover
Sleep DS spent all of last week with his head in his hands dramatically saying "I'm SOOOOOOO tired". Can't imagine where he got that from either!
Great story Mig Grin

Grin just ordered the grey and this skirt to go with it Blush

shopafrolic · 10/09/2013 22:13

Bargainous Grumpy I might check out the red when I'm next in town and see how tomatoey it is........ Is that even a real word?

Drywhiteplease · 10/09/2013 22:15

So I do Shop! But I just look at the pictures....Gosh I'm rubbish aren't I?Grin ...you're getting to know me better than me!Grin can someone tell me what to wear tomorrow? Grin and what to cook for dinner.....soooooo bored having to think of meal ideas!

QueenCadbury · 10/09/2013 22:17

mrsR I don't need any encouragement in browsing for accessories for the dress. I've already started a pin board! I'll be after your ideas soon but i am gong to leave shopping for actual stuff till later. I'm relaxed now I have the dress although I need to decide about hair. I'm wondering about wearing it up but will need to grow it a bit but I'm booked in at the hairdressers next week.

mig I'd happily critique your stuff. You have a great way of writing. Set those pin boards up!

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 10/09/2013 22:19

Dry DD2 and I made Swedish meatballs and gravy on Sunday from the Scandilicious cookbook - freakin' delicious.

Just had a bloody marketing (pre recorded and random) phone call. It's 10.15pm, FFS! Surely there are laws?

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 10/09/2013 22:23

Right, off for a nice hot bath and (bee-free) bed before I buy anything else.

Goodnight, lovely Voguettes

Grumpy that scarf is a fantastic find, have just put grey and burgundy in basket and back on here for a couple of minutes to mull it over.

Dry I have no doubt you'll have me in stitches at the MU - your posts never fail to make me smile!

QueenC great news re the new roles. Shop in my last permanent job I had a personal coach - first one was crap, second guy was great. But TBH a good mate is often as good really, you need someone who will let you do most of the talking and who isn't afraid to challenge you a bit. I haven't done hypotherapy but I suspect I am highly suggestable!

Sleep Vit D and a race both excellent ideas - will do both!

MrsR DH is looking for work but I earn a lot more so won't be able to drop down from 5 days for a while yet - the future plans are based on paying off the mortgage (or getting as close to paid off as possible) so that depends on my income - in all honesty that's the root of my discontent, I am feeling very trapped and like a wage slave and a bit resentful of him having options while I will be shoulder to the wheel for a couple more years.

Marsha well done on the new jobs - is the Burberry a possibility now? Smile

QueenCadbury · 10/09/2013 22:29

Off to bed. Will you be on vol 21 by morning...?
Night all.

mignonette · 10/09/2013 22:29

ooohh Grumpy All that cashmere is going to make you very huggable. Is there anything more luxurious than that against the skin? I covet Cashmere and Merino PJ's. And bedlinen made from pure linen with cashmere back support cushions, brushed pure cotton throws and Melin Tregwynt blankets. I didn't realise that Melin makes clothing and night wear too. They have some lovely looking tweedy wool jackets.

Drywhiteplease · 10/09/2013 22:32

Just read it Shop sweet. I love the jeans article. Refined boyfriend is a style I love, more fitted, for once I'm on trend at the beginning of the trend!

The thing is Liberty when I get excited I talk faster than normal and my words just tumble out and I don't make any sense! You probably won't understand me!

OneLittleLady · 10/09/2013 22:43

I wanted to try hypnotherapy to help me a) quit smoking and b) lose weight but someone told me I should avoid it because I have a personality disorder. I don't know how based on fact this advice was though.

Does anyone know if Wolford tights come up small? I need some really good, warm tights for winter but because I have short but very wide legs, I often have to buy really large sized tights so they stretch over them.

santamarianovella · 10/09/2013 22:44

marsha glad everything worked out, sounds exciting!
i used to work at an interior designing firm,i do miss it a lot,but its very hard work, and most of our clients ask for meetings on weekends,as its their only free time, but it was very enjoyable,

mig yes why dont you write? you obviously have great taste and very up to date with trends,we all enjoy your your posts, you can do it as a breather from you stressful job.

sleep and mcnally i find it difficult to stick to a strict workout for long, and mcnally ou have inspired me to take running seriously.

shop and ani kids pick up bad words instantly ! dss likes to sit with his dad to watch football sometimes and i think dh forgets that his son is sitting right next to him,ohh the things he said to strangers in the park Blush
