QueenC not morbid at all. That sounds really great. We are going through some stuff in our immediate family and it's lovely to know that people like you are there.

Foxy I was so happy to see you, I forgot to say love your outfit too.

Santa your old work sounds very interesting, can you say what it was? (don't worry if not!)

Sleep fabulous shoes. Great work on the weights and kick boxing. Which skinnies are your favourite?

Mig all the ts I've bought lately are reduced J Crew ones. I do like them, they are quite thin. Seem to last, so far anyway.

McNally well done on the running, what will you do as it gets darker earlier? I have the same problem, might have to start going in the day.

Liberty it must be tough, to be waiting to move to Aus then it not happening as you thought it might. We will have to show you a good time at the MU Wink Grin

Grumpy good luck on the jumper deliveries hope you like them.

Shop I know, I'm so grateful that ds2 can run it off in nursery now winter is coming. I'll still be doing parks however! 8 years phew.

One that's it, no more taking the clothes.

Anni how's the coat situation?

Meeting was great, I have two new briefs. Really intense and need to concentrate and deliver something good over next couple of days. Will start tomorrow. I enjoyed today; a meeting, dh leaving work early to pick up ds1 from school, a nice time in the park together and good work news. Good stuff! Seemed a nicer balance than when it's me doing all the cc stuff too.

MarshaBrady · 10/09/2013 21:16

That was long!

MrsR loved that Balenciaga and jacket link you did the other day. Will see if I can find it. Really great and fab style for you.

MarshaBrady · 10/09/2013 21:18

I love this J Crew dress for next Spring.

Dry I hope you got some free clothes in your old job!

shopafrolic · 10/09/2013 21:20

shopafrolic · 10/09/2013 21:20

There was an article this week in Grazia about a couple of women who became best friends having met online. Made me think of you crazy bunch.

I've had acupuncture before but was allergic to the needles. I can only have gold needles - I am expensive in everything I do!
In other Grazia news, Dagmar sweaters are at the top of their on the up list. I'm so ahead of my time

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 10/09/2013 21:23

Who likes a cape? This DKNY is such a deep rich blue.

Well here is my 'quiz'. Think of these categories as my classification of the main trends this Season. What I want you to do is find an example of an item/outfit from each category that you like or would wear. Money is no object. You don't have to do this for every category. Your choices can be clothes, accessories or shoes, make up items if you wish or even interior decor if you so please.

No time limit as I realise this is not going to be a quick task! If I have left any important trends out then please do add them! Links of course to the looks/items chosen would be lovely.

THE SKY AT NIGHT AND WINTER WHITE- The darkest and richest Midnight; Prussian, Pansy, Saxe or Royal; Oxford or Yves Klein blue. And the whites, creams and translucents- clotted cream, Polar white, cornsilk and ivory; bone, vanilla, ghost and pearl. Will they be matte, gloss, pearlescent or textured? What would be your choice?

THOSE WERE ROSE COLOURED TIMES- Pink and candy, Pink to make our MNVoguers wink; Ashes of Roses from The Thornbirds; Peony, Salmon and Mexican Kahlo pink; Schiaparelli Shocking and Vreeland's Pink is the Navy Blue of India'- Will you wear it and how?

THE NEW SKIRT-It’s longer, mid-calf, slightly flared at the knee and asks a woman to conceal rather than reveal and rethink her footwear. What would YOU wear with this shape?

COUNTRY GRUNGE - The Square root of check, plaid, tartan and gingham mussed up w/ leather, nubuck, suede and rough hewn fabrics. Think Brokeback Cowboy meets Courtney (Love) meets Siouxsie Soux in punk check

COME UP AND SEE ME SOMETIME- the Boudoir out of the bedroom with updated Calvin Klein and Narcisso Rodriguez slip dresses, lace edged satin peignoirs, visible brassiere straps and pants under gauze. Think of it as 'X Ray' dressing.

BOY MEETS GIRL- The X and the Y meet in pinstripe, urchin suiting, clumpy shoes w/ heft, shirting in masculine cuts and feminine fabrics.

THE LADY COMES UNDONE- Think Tippi Hedren dragged through a bush w/ exposed collarbones, shoulder straps slipping, buttons and zips at half mast and milky off colours- ashes of roses, cloudy blue, greys and fern greens. A new way of how to be a woman. Think boxy shapes on top w/ straight pencil/midi skirts or pants cut to show an ankle bone and interesting shoe.

THE REBEL-WARRIOR--whether she be in the new strong shoulders or elongated neck, the fortified Bandeau top or wearing vinyl, this style demands poise, strut and thrust. Clothing shapes are sculptural and barely hint at the lines of the body underneath. These clothes create your shape in metallic, techno fabrics and military influenced design.

BAROQUE AND ROLL- from scrolls of foliage and garlands of flowers in rich jewel and precious metal tones with the requisite sense of drama and a love of the ornate. Velvets, Damasks, Brocades all feature. Think Versace in his 90's heyday updated for today w/ a strut of rock n roll edge-studs, tattoo imagery, paillettes and sequins, embossing and applique; leather and net. Think Excess all areas.

THE DARK ARTSThe Gothic full-blooded romance of an unknowable and opulent style. Capes, cloaks, high necks and toe-grazing hems, in fantasy textures and grand silhouettes. Clothing of drama that casts a spell made for the Goth all grown up.

I've got the Paul McKenna cd MrsR, I've read the book and It's mostly common sense...
Don't eat while watching tv, eat slowly etc.
I've fallen asleep listening to it, but it did sort of work for a day

I'd love to be hypnotised.
And I love acupuncture.

QC, I'm bloody annoyed upset with Ds1.
He's taught Ds2... 2.5 to say 'loser loser' in a proper awful horrid henry type way.

Any tips for getting Ds2 to stop saying it?
I've tried saying it's a naughty word, which had no effect whatsoever.
I'm now ignoring him when he says it Hmm

So I've just bought some grey marl cashmere gloves from m&s via ebay bnwt for £10.48.
One of the little horrors can give them me for my birthday.

I did see some lovely leopard scarves in m&s yesterday, a fab red one, and a grey too.
Sorry but I can't link, I'm mn-ing on my phone, live from the exercise bike whilst Dh watches the football! :o

shopafrolic · 10/09/2013 21:30

Anni DS came home from Norfolk shouting "PIGLET POWER!!!!!!!" At the top of his lungs as taught by his cousin. I ignored and after 5 days or so he gave up. Longest five days of my life so far.......

Queen That'll be an excellent use of your nursing experience. Well done you.

Grumpy I love German expressiveness. Another term I use a lot is Weltschmerz. It so encapsulates the way i can feel sometimes about life, The World, the Universe...My Brother is such a fount of knowledge re German expressions and words as he is so keen to educate himself on the culture of his adopted country.

mignonette · 10/09/2013 21:36

Marsha That's great news. I can detect a 'mental revving up in your post! So good to get your teeth into something isn't it?

Shop what's w/ the Piglet? Grin...

QueenCadbury · 10/09/2013 21:39

mig you the wasted on nursing. You really should try your hand at fashion writing. Would it be easier to have pin boards for each trend?

MarshaBrady · 10/09/2013 21:41

Ha Mig funny you say that my initial reaction is always agh hard. Then I start thinking about it properly. You can practically hear the brain cells re-crank Grin.

And I took a big risk keeping three days nursery as so expensive (well dh did too as he'd have to cover it). Finally the work and cc stars have aligned! It's been ages.

Annianni · 10/09/2013 21:42

Marsha, the burgundy Cos wool one is on order.

Liberty I walked past the Burberry shop in Manchester yesterday and thought of you.
I didn't dare go in though :o

Shop, I'd be happy with piglet power!
Maybe I should let him watch the old Mutant turtle dvds?

mignonette · 10/09/2013 21:42

Anni

Maybe appeal to the compassionate side that is quite strong at his age? I recall a similar problem w/ DS and I sat him down (you may have to do it more than once) and told him how sad and possibly crying somebody would feel if they thought that this was being said to them. I made it quite an epic portrayal of despair and devastation I'm afraid Grin.

The other way is to remove him from the room every time he says it but w/ a minimum of fuss/attention so he doesn't see it as a way of getting attention. Give him an explanation "If you say it again, you'll have to go sit on the naughty step (if you use that) / have a toy confiscated/have favourite TV switched off, basically whatever he is enjoying doing at the time.

I can assure you that he'll get bored of it soon if it either elicits a negative consequence or no reaction whatsoever bar silent removal to a boring place!

MarshaBrady · 10/09/2013 21:43

Mig did you write that? I thought you copy and pasted! Good one.

Annianni · 10/09/2013 21:43

Fab job news Marsha.
When are you coat shopping?

shopafrolic · 10/09/2013 21:44

I don't even know where PP came from! I decided it was best not to delve too deep into the mind of a 2.5yo.....
