I can totally sympathise Liberty. I'm feeling pretty similar at the moment (though my idea of an adventure is much less exciting then emigrating or a career break!). I think you need to rearrange your coat trying on trip. Little things to look forward to make a big difference I find and it is disproportionately disappointing if they get taken away.

Love the shoes sleep and great outfit. Motivated by your gym work to try to go for a run tonight (if DH makes it home before it goes dark - seems to be by 8 these days, argh).

McNally · 10/09/2013 17:24

Aargh, also sorry about the multiple post. It is clearly not our fault One. I blame technology!!!

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 10/09/2013 17:26

Liberty I totally empathise with the feeling. I've always been a grass is greener kind of person which, while helpful as you never stagnate, is as much as a curse as life becomes a bit of a quest. Focus on your Australia adventure - it's only postponed, not cancelled and fill your time with mini-treats. Running is good - endorphins and clearing your head at the same time.
I do love the sound of upstate NY Mig, esp at this time of year. Glorious.
Sleep those shoes are ultra sexy pretty, totally la dolce vita.

Ordered that animal sweater from Mint Velvet today and had a DPD message within a couple of hours telling me it will be delivered tomorrow. Free delivery too - now that's service. Unfortunately the stripy sweater was the only thing to be delivered today, that means there's a very real chance of everything coming tomorrow when DH is here all day. Typical.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 10/09/2013 17:28

Bugger, now my post went multiple too. Must be a glitch. sorry

mignonette · 10/09/2013 17:30

I've just had four posts posted at once on another thread. Gremlins..

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 10/09/2013 17:44

I know it's not quite in the AW vein, but I'm quite keen on these

libertychick · 10/09/2013 17:48

The thread will fill v fast with the multiple posts! Grumpy it is a curse isn't it this feeling of 'there must be something else' - as you say it stops stagnation but I sometimes wish I could be a little more contented Smile. What a nuisance all the orders arriving when your DH is there.

I will re-organise the coat session McNally I don't want to order multiple coats online - the returns would be a bugger!

libertychick · 10/09/2013 17:50

I find I wear sunnies a lot in autumn Grumpy all that low sun...

mignonette · 10/09/2013 17:52

There are songs that I cannot listen to because they fill me w/ such yearning for I do not know what. This is especially bad in Spring and Autumn.

Like the glasses.

Sleepwhenidie · 10/09/2013 18:05

Hi - for anyone who is prone to a bit of SAD (DH is one too Sad), as well as the light box suggestion, start taking Vitamin D3 supplements now to build up a bit before the days really start getting shorter. Keep taking them through the winter. Good for DC's too.

Enjoy your run McNally - focus on the feeling you get when it's done Grin. I managed to last through kickboxing this morning and now have that completely physically spent feeling (broken nights all week due to DS1's ongoing ear infection not helping), but I find that oh so satisfying in a slightly masochistic way Grin. Think I may have to spend a bit of time up close and personal with the foam roller this evening though . Maybe a day off tomorrow.

Liberty - you said you were starting running again too? Would a race to aim for help with the way you are feeling?

mignonette · 10/09/2013 18:09

Yes as Sleep says, Vit D (which acts more like a Hormone) deficiency is becoming very prevalent due to our limiting sun exposure.

Also get outside for twenty minutes each day no matter how awful the weather and if it is sunny make the effort to go outside and turn your face up to the sun and bask a little.

shopafrolic · 10/09/2013 18:37

Hello again all.
Mig pretty much all my tees are now coming from J Crew - either the vintage cotton or the linen ones. They wash brilliantly at 30 degrees and iron well, no twisted seams - I am becoming obsessed.
I'm with you all on dreading the shorter days, I am full of nerves about how to keep DS occupied when it's cold and wet outside (he needs 'running' twice a day at the mo - like a dog)! Will try some D3 - thanks Sleep - your outfit sounds amazing - what happened with the hair? Did I miss it?
Novice Thank you so much again - I'll PM you and then absolutely reimburse you including P&P when we meet.
Liberty I am considering some life coaching to see where I head next. I know I don't want to go back to my old job, but I can't do this one forever....... has anyone ever done it?
I am also thinking about some hypnotherapy to crack a bad habit I have. Again - I'd be interested if any of you have had experience?
I'll read the Alexa interview after bathtime and prepare to LOL.

Ok, I'm a glass half full, very green grass type of person.......Liberty you will come to the MU and sit near me,we'll have fun I'll be hyper with excitement about being in London,be warned [ grin]

sleep 2 years I've been working it at the gym (kettle bells ugggh , step and tone eek , pump fx bloody torture and spin ffs ) it doesn't get easier but my bum's under control and I have muscles Grin today I swear I was going to just sit down and coast downhill but the sadist teacher made me go up hill for ages!!!!

shop I need hypnotherapy for my bad shopping habit addiction . Was sad because I saw a lovely pair of C/E jeans on the Outnet and have gone a bit bonkers this month.....so I bought another Shock pair of M and S slippers (black suede) to console myself Grin........there's no hope.

No white wine open...so having a cheeky red Wine instead ....on a Tuesday, get me!!!!

OneLittleLady · 10/09/2013 19:29

But drrrrrrrrrry I wanted to sit next to youuuuuuu Wink

In amazing, never before heard news, my sister came round to see me and DIDN'T STEAL A SINGLE ITEM OF CLOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mignonette · 10/09/2013 19:41

Shop I laughed when I once read that little boys (especially) need to be 'exercised like dogs' and taken out twice a day for a run.

Yes I once had hypnotherapy to help tackle some issues that were a legacy from childhood I had that I felt contributed to my being bullied again as an adult.

I was unfortunately very resistant to the process. The same thing happened when I once went to Relate in a doomed effort to save relationship w/ my ex and I kept preempting the rather unskilled therapist and the hypnotherapist suggested that it wasn't for me. However I have seen it really work in an empowering way (the client felt that she worked alongside the hypnotherapist as opposed to having it done to her) especially for very specific issues (smoking, eating, shyness)....Gain references and recommendations from patients when you start to choose a practitioner.

I used to have Acupuncture from the therapist treating our substance misuse clients at Turning Point Drugs Service after they had finished their daily sessions. All the staff were offered it.

It made me really ill-shakes, aches, headaches, muscle pain, crying jags and the acupuncturist actually brought the sessions to an end because he was very concerned by my reaction Grin. I didn't have any known toxic habits per se apart from smoking then but my reaction was really odd.

Thanks for the heads up regarding J Crew. I do love their colours and Jenna Lyons is probably quite similar in her dress sense to me at times. Not looks though-I am a short ass. I read recently that she wears Dentures because of a genetic condition that destroyed her teeth in childhood. She doesn't have implants but actual dentures.

I am toying w/ another little questionaire for you all if you are up to it? On this seasons major style 'themes' and a challenge for you to find examples of how you'd wear each of them? Shall I?

OneLittleLady · 10/09/2013 19:44

Mig I had acupuncture once for my arm and it made me faint. They said I couldn't have anymore after that one session. I had to be given sweet tea and biscuits in the doctors office because I just collapsed

I'd be up for a questionaire Grin

mignonette · 10/09/2013 19:44

One You can confess.....Did you cut off her hands?

DD came round earlier and waltzed off w/ my Chanel blush compact, a pair of slightly too short merino tights in herringbone weave, a tub of Vanilla paste and a tube of Laura Santini Taste No#5 Umami paste!

One I think your sister has psychically possessed my DD. I need an exorcism.

OneLittleLady · 10/09/2013 20:02

Do the exorcism quickly mig it only gets worse!!!

Drywhiteplease · 10/09/2013 20:22

Touch my wardrobe and die.....simples!

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 10/09/2013 20:39

mig there's a word in German which describes the something-missing feeling - 'sehnsucht'. It has no direct translation into English, nor any correlating word, but it generally means an insatiable desire for something you can't identify. I understand that perfectly.

QueenCadbury · 10/09/2013 21:02

Evening. I'm in the mood to shop. The eldest 2 dc quite frankly pissed me off today at nursery pick up time. I was so upset and embarrassed by their unruly behaviour. Dh is out at a meeting which consists of dinner and booze. Find me something to buy quick.

liberty sorry you're feeling that way. But as someone else said the move to oz is only on hold and not forever cancelled. I know you feel that you should be with dd in your spare time but time to yourself will make you a better mummy.

shop never had life coaching although did consider it when I was working through all the stuff about returning to work or not. Never tried hypnotherapy and don't like the thought of it at all.

I've had acupuncture in 2 of my pregnancies for SPD. Bloody brilliant I say!

I feel like I'm moving into a new phase of my life and am quite excited. I've just taken on a role at toddler group. It's only co-ordinating the waiting list so hardly rocket science but it feels good to be doing something. Next week I start my training for volunteering with Marie curie cancer care. I'm really looking forward to it as it's totally where my skills and experience lie and it'll be good to deal with people with cancer again. Gosh, that makes me sound really morbid!

OneLittleLady · 10/09/2013 21:02

grumpy there's a band I sometimes listen to with an album called sehnsucht (yes, I occasionally like a bit of Rammstein Blush ). I had wondered what it meant but could never find a translation. Thank you for solving that years old mystery for me

OneLittleLady · 10/09/2013 21:04

Not morbid queenC it's a vital, much overlooked until the worst happens, service. I have nothing but respect for the Marie Curie nurses and carers that came out to give me respite from looking after my mum.

MrsRadicchio · 10/09/2013 21:05

Liberty how about the balance between work and childcare being more shared with your DH? I remember you saying he seemed like he wanted to return to work. When are you thinking of moving to NZ / Aus?

MrsRadicchio · 10/09/2013 21:12

Oh yes, I have had acupuncture - to bring on labour, though went into labour with DS2 at 42 weeks so it didn't work on that score but I did feel really good in the late stage of the pregnancy.

Hypnotherapy - I think I am v suggestible to this, just experienced some at school (also listened to a hypnobirthing cd when pg with DS2). I keep thinking I should get the paul mckenna weight loss cd.

QueenC how about looking for accessories for the dress? Productive shopping, or make up??

Gap seems to have loads of great winter colours at the mo. 30% jeans at mo too.

Anni thanks for the heads up re the coated jeans in gap. Tried them on today but don't think they are for me.
