mrsR I think it's doable, you just need a really good tailor ,you don't want to mess with the shape, great coat too,
marsha I've seen really nice marant jacket while on hols, can't find them here at all , take your time with the coat hunt you don't want to rush into something you will hate later,Stella m make really durable and coats,
dry workmen or not ,northern men are way hotter then the rest,Wink

needastrogone can you link your pin?

I got both jackets today and like them both very much, love the the color of the iro,and the marant has very flattering shoulders, the pictures on the site does no justice to it, will take a pic of both.

Drywhiteplease · 03/09/2013 19:02

Anni is that a grey duvet coat or just a grey coat? I'm looking for a grey duvet coat.....let me know if you find one.

Coat wise;
Merell Wakefield in black for rain
Green wool/cashmere knee length tie belt for smarter w/e
Airforce blue knee length boiled wool swing coat worth high neck I bought a few years back in France, lovely.
Black fitted for posh
Khaki quilted jacket style belted for countryside stuff.

I would love a camel, single breasted, knee length but v fitted blokes coat....just classic, classy with anything.

Drywhiteplease · 03/09/2013 19:07

I'm with you Dauphin ....and they Hoover up! Shock
santa Some northern men are hot sean Bean some Yorkshire men are mono syllabic, un romantic and obstinate but you always know where you stand I guess because they tell it as it is........I'm not married to one but I guess DS is born and bred Yorkshire which is odd since I'm southern through and through But he's lovely Smile

Annianni · 03/09/2013 19:21

I'd like a grey cocoon coat ideally Dry.
I'll keep an eye out for any grey padded ones for you.

OneLittleLady · 03/09/2013 19:24

I am so super sexy right now in Dp's old hole ridden t-shirt, rolled up leggings and a Miss Piggy shower cap on to stop my hair dye dripping Grin

shopafrolic · 03/09/2013 19:26

Dry was it your first day today???? Or am I imagining that? How was it?

QueenC I keep meaning to tell you how gorgeous your kids are! :)

OP posts:
santamarianovella · 03/09/2013 19:33

have been trying to upload the image but no success, how do you all do it?

dry have not met the mono syllabic type yet Grin,dh is the tell it as it is type, which i like, it can get a bit too honest, and took me some time to adjust to it,but i rather be with someone who says whats on his mind than someone who sugar coat the truth IYKWIM.

Hello all! I am so excited. Mortgage loan offer came through this evening.GrinGrinGrin We have been on tenterhooks for the last couple of days as we were asking them to loan us the money for the new house and not selling current house, so we were worried they might tell us to sod off or try and a take charge over both houses. Yippee!

Right, off to check out Mrs R's linksSmile

shopafrolic · 03/09/2013 19:54

Sorry - I mixed up Queen and Dry when I was talking about slightly older dc's Blush

Back from salon, jury is out on the hair for me and DH. It's definitely darker! May need a few highlights put back through next week but need to see in a few days/washes. While I was there Meg Matthews came in wearing the Marant dress you linked Marsha, I really liked it (not that MM would be my style icon of choice however).

Santa I haven't figured how to pin photos either Grin.

Fantastic news on the mortgage Novice!

Decameron · 03/09/2013 20:08

My DDs are 5 and 2. DD1 is back on Thurs, DD2 won't go to nursery until next year.

I love that Coast dress, QueenC.

Santa lovely jackets.

Coats, hmm, I have a lot: camel Gerard Darel, a pink Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti, red DVF, midnight Aigle Cuckmere, black DKNY wool peacoat, North Face ski jacket, light Weekend Maxmara black coat, and a couple of trenches and Barbours.

All in good condition, I probably don't need anything but would like a navy or black wool coat. I've just pulled a black ankle length Calvin Klein coat down from the loft, I haven't worn it in years, winters aren't as harsh as east coast US here. I wonder if I could have it shortened or would that ruin it.

QueenCadbury · 03/09/2013 20:22

Just tried the coast dress on again. Still stunning from the front but not so stunning from the rear view Grin. My bottom really does ruin the line of dresses. Will make a final decision at the weekend when my mum can see it-she'll be brutally honest!

shop thank you for saying that.

Off to bed. Am knackered and know it'll be a tough morning getting dc back into the routine. Night all.

OneLittleLady · 03/09/2013 20:30

Excellent news on the house novice

I am so tired, I'm not even sure why as I have done the bare minimum all day. Think I'm going to have to see the GP and ask some questions about my medications, this level of tiredness is just not normal

AmberNectarine · 03/09/2013 20:33

My DS is 3.5 and my DD is 2 (born a few weeks after Decameron's DD2 - she lost the weight much faster!) I've just applied for reception and nursery for them for next year, but they go to a little private nursery which they LOVE, and I'll be sad to take them out!

Coat wise I have my black Calvin Klein, a black Zara duvet coat which I hate now, a short plum Uniqlo duvet, a navy Gap trench, a leopard print M&S trench (looks better than it sounds, honest), a leopard furry Asos number, neon yellow Gap parka, hideous olive green North face practical thing (bought while pregnant like all my expensive mistakes) and a navy Barbour international. Wouldn't mind a new less ugly duvet and a smarter one to mix it up for work.

Decameron · 03/09/2013 20:39

Yes, but you are now a size 8, Amber and I will never see that again!

AmberNectarine · 03/09/2013 20:43

On a very good day! In Gap!

Drywhiteplease · 03/09/2013 20:45

Novice fantastic news! Well done.
Shop yes, first day back. Love it...they're all so wide eyed and in awe and trying really hard to be super sensible....chuckle to myself when they all line up, looking all serious, with their arms crossed. I said to a yr 2 today that she'd grown a lot over the holiday, she said "Mrs Dry you've grown too" Confused!!!!
Santa I just prefer straightforward not rude people, so quite happy up here Smile

Mominatrix · 03/09/2013 20:49

Evening all!

What is the Mumsnet scarf? I hear about it, but am never certain what it is?

Marsha , it will be lovely to see you again. Looking forward to it.

sleep no worries about mistaking the available colours. I love the coat you linked to. How thick are Iro jackets, and are they lined? Love the Marant Etoile dress, despite MM wearing it (actually, it probably looked fantastic on her). This thread is dangerous!

Umlauf love that style of skirt and have seen many versions of it for the upcoming season. I think that it is very flattering, and less severe than a pencil skirt. I have heard of Vestaire - seems to be a re-sale site that is not an auction site. I have heard very good things about it. I looked through it and there is a stunning Prada black wool coat in my size with fox fur all over the bottom - love it, but DH would have a conniption as I don't need another coat this year.

santamarianovella - DS loves coconut water - why? I agree that it has an unpleasant taste of watery mucus. Bletch. It is just a fad.

MrsR - you can definitely get that coat shortened. Another thing you can do to spruce the coat is to change the lining to an OOMPH one (striking colour or pattern). I think that it is interesting that today people don't renovate their clothes very often (if at all) when it was very common in the past. Probabaly to do with how cheap clothes are now.

OneLittleLady Grin - I look similar to you, minus the shower cap. DOn't care - it's comfortable.

Novice: congratulations! What a relief Wine.

Coats I will be wearing this fall/winter:
IM tweed cocoon coat (black, grey, burgundy) I purchased last year
Canada Goose long Parka (dark grey) - could not survive winter (and rugby-mum role) without it
Burberry 3/4 wool tailored coat (sage green with gunmetal silver buttons)
Belstaff biker jacket with fur collar
multicoloured fur chubby (hand me down from mum)
grey/white wool popover with cowl neck and 3/4 length sleeves from J crew (more of a fall coat)
and my new black Zara wool bled coat with many zips (like a long wool biker jacket)

Tomorrow is supposed to be a scorcher - yeah!

santamarianovella · 03/09/2013 21:09

shop i must be thick Blush.did what you said but nothing, does it not work with ipads? will set a secret board, that way i can try them on just need dh to come back from his trip to take decent pics

sleep i love that dress, and its much nicer irl,i saw a 6ft russian glamazon trying it on with over the knee boots,

mom the iro jacket is not lined, not very thick, unlike the marant ones, which are wooly and chunky

novice congrats

dd is 2,i think she is born within the same week as ambers, i could be wrong

Drywhiteplease · 03/09/2013 21:13

Santa (sorry if I'm repeating what Shop said)......using the iPad Pinterest app ...
On left hand tool bar go to camera then just take a photo or use existing.
Is this what you tried?

santamarianovella · 03/09/2013 21:21

i did that dry,the wifi is low these days, maybe thats why it takes a while to upload? will try again, hope it works.

shopafrolic · 03/09/2013 21:45

Santa did I misunderstand? Are you trying to upload a pic to this thread, or to Pintrest?

OP posts:
Drywhiteplease · 03/09/2013 21:48

Santa you'll probably find the same pic x 40 on Pinterest in a couple of hours!
Jeeeez....my house is swarming with daddy long legs....hate the buggers!
