Lol, you're all absolutely correct, although I would like to know how his life has turned out, and dazzle him with the details of how my life has panned out, but other than that, we wouldn't really have anything else to talk about, 20 years ago is a long time. But I hope he's well and found happiness.

mignonette · 24/08/2013 10:57

Turq What Chanel cream did you buy? I have some of the make up (well, what DD hasn't 'borrowed') and feel so 'special' when i use it. Will never forget buying my first Chanel skin care (face wash) aged 18. I felt proper adult.

Am now officially very happy because my first US Vogue subscription magazine arrived five minutes ago- it is the big September edition w/ Jennifer Lawrence on the cover and it is humungous. The lead fashion story has Lawrence in plenty of tweedy checks and tartans. She is wearing the Dolce tweed suiting and the Vuitton checked coat Envy....Bit annoyed that out of 902 pages, nearly 750 appear to be ads though. Larger is not always better, Anna Wintour.

Loads of by the fire pub reading later on unless DH ambushed me with the scrabble board.

MarshaBrady · 24/08/2013 11:08

Jennifer Lawrence is gorgeous, one of my favourites. She is a fabulous actress too. She is amazing in Winter's Bone.

Carrie you made the right decision Grin.

Am about to get ready for our mini mini mu. Am going for the Lanvin wedges as don't want wet feet in ballet flats. And then am working upwards!

Thanks for good wishes, we'll toast an espresso or whatever to the lovely voguettes.

OneLittleLady · 24/08/2013 11:14

I've had some terrible news about a friend this morning, can't share details as I'm sworn to secrecy about what's going on with her in general and the cat definitely needs to stay in the bag right now. I'm so so worried about her right now, I feel so helpless and don't know what to do with myself Sad

Drywhiteplease · 24/08/2013 11:18

MrsR I'm sure you can have new leather soles put on....

Carrie I found a bf who big time broke my heart on FB a few months ago......he looked old and fat Grin
A few yrs ago I received an e mail from my uni saying someone wanted to get in touch. Turned out to be my first boyfriend convent school, sisters, late starter with boys . I was quite intrigued to know why he wanted to get in touch, imagining too many Jane Austen/Jackie Collins that he'd realized what he'd lost and was wanting me back only for me to throw my lovely DH and amazingly well adjusted children in his face, along with my incredibly mature and goegeous self etc crap crap crap
Finger hovered over the key, sensible voice no where to be found........
Turned out he was a born again Christian, home schooling his kids wanting forgiveness for having cheated on me with the tart on the uni theatre club lighting section Shock and a smooth ride to heaven Hmm

MarshaBrady · 24/08/2013 11:23

Dry that is so funny! Love it.

Umlauf · 24/08/2013 11:42

Hello, can I join you? I'm the worst combination of things at the moment, an impoverished, heavily pregnant shopaholic, but I have been lurking on these threads for ages and have been inspired by copied some of your purchases already (Sam Edelman Gigis!)

I live on the France/Spain border so I'm all about the internet shopping, Massimo Dutti/Adolfo Dominguez and Zara, but recently enjoyed a trip back home (hello Bicester!) and came back with neon yellow jaeger jumper a neon pink boden jumper, a jaeger blue knitted jacket which is lovely but I can't find online, joules jumper with naff fox on it which I love but is not at all mumsnet, and best of all the Stephen Sprouse Leopard scarf which I found in a second hand dress agency in Tunbridge Wells! All of which I think I'll be fine fitting into post baby.

More of a risk was this FCUK coat which was too much of a bargain to resist and I can channel Lady Mary in it! My pre-baby wardrobe is hopelessly unpractical (pretty much all hand wash only!) so I'm finding myself look at clothing in a completely different way which is scary and exciting all at once.

MarshaBrady · 24/08/2013 12:00

Welcome Umlauf what fabulous links. Love the Jaegar and the coat and of course the fox jumper with that awesome name. Great style!

OneLittleLady · 24/08/2013 12:05

I love the fox print jumper umlauf I have a weakness for things like that or anything with bears on it Grin

McNally · 24/08/2013 12:08

Hello Umlauf! Love the Jaeger jumper too. Fab colour. More importantly, when's the baby due? Is it your first?

Hope you are ok One.

Topazandpearl · 24/08/2013 12:12

Sorry to hear about your friend One. Even if all you can do is listen, that, I'm sure, is a considerable help.

I hope those at the mu have a lovely time.

Welcome to umlauf and mary.

Umlauf · 24/08/2013 12:13

Thank you Smile I haven't quite grown out of buying clothes just because they have a quirky print on them...

Dry that is so funny! Did you reply? I'm on holiday at the moment and my holiday fling from when I was 15 has turned up in the flat next door, and here I am all married and 35 weeks pregnant! I don't know whether to feel smug or horrified. (Amazingly we haven't crossed paths all week so I think he's avoiding me.)

Topazandpearl · 24/08/2013 12:26

The boucle jacket is a keeper (thanks again shop). I know it will get lots of wear (but not just yet as it is warm!).

I am also keeing these Me &Em trousers. Every year I buy a pair of black trousers for work but normally spend about £30-40 on them. It will be interesting to see if these, considerably more expensive ones keep their looks better. They are very flattering but long! I will take them up once I have decided which height shoes I will want to wear them with.

shopafrolic · 24/08/2013 12:44

Good news Topaz
Welcome Umlauf will look at your links tonight as BB so bad!
Had a quick run round Selfridges beauty and got the Chanel nail varnish I wanted on my Pin. Am the first to arrive at MU which means I'm sat so no-one can see what I'm wearing! Probably a good thing as not my most stylish today!

MrsR and Marsha and Liberty if you're joining, I'm downstairs tucked away in the back corner.....

Drywhiteplease · 24/08/2013 13:33

Umlauf hello....yes I did reply:
"Oh Pratt it's all water under the bridge and a long time ago. Glad to hear you're happy if a little bit weirdand settled down not with me thank goodness
Dry.
P.s hope you make it to heaven wanker" Grin

foxysocks · 24/08/2013 14:38

I am properly laughing at 'PS hope you make it to heaven' waaaaah I hope I get to use that one day.

dry you also made me laugh for the first and only time yday with 'cuddle your boots', so thank you x

thanks to all the fab voguettes for all your well wishes Flowers. I feel a lot better having slept well and taken rather a lot of arnica. just had my first food in 24 hrs - I cannot eat when I am stressed - and lying on my bed at PILs house mentally planning outfits for the next few days.

mig I will def take ibu tonight before bed. was nervous about taking on empty stomach yday.

gutted to miss the mini MU. next time.

I made DH stop the car as we were pulling away, ran back inside and grabbed my boots. I don't think I will wear them this week but I suddenly though - what if we get burgled and they take them?!?! Shock. feel better that they are with me here. DH rolled eyes at this whole episode.

Drywhiteplease · 24/08/2013 14:55

Ahhhhh Foxy glad I made you smile, bet you did give them a little squeeze didn't you Wink...........

Umlauf · 24/08/2013 15:49

Sorry mcnally I missed your post! Baby boy due in 5 weeks, it is my first. My boobs grew about 4 sizes before POAS so I have been in awful jersey maternity shite for the whole year, I am salivating at the thought of wearing real clothes again, although breast feeding will get in the way I guess...

MarshaBrady · 24/08/2013 16:17

Had a lovely mini mu. Everyone looking gorgeous as per usual!

I am now in Liberty in love with two coats, but have to wait a couple of weeks before I can buy one and worse still there aren't many left. So hard!

mignonette · 24/08/2013 16:21

Marsha I have had visions of you all drinking too much and being last heard of shaking your tushes down at the Carnival! Grin

MarshaBrady · 24/08/2013 16:30

Haha Mig we were very civilised, I had a double decaf espresso which made Shop laugh Grin

Am sure we'll make up for it at next one!

shopafrolic · 24/08/2013 16:42

Am on the train on my way home. V civilised. MrsR picked a lovely spot for lunch, then we headed to Matches. Interesting that two bags I pinned are not as lovely IRL so that is good!
Headed to Liberty with Marsha and finally tried some Pistols - I think it might be love. They look big as I look down on them but front and side view (which is all anyone else sees) is great.
No luck for my chunky knit yet, still too early I think..... I may not find the one that's in my head.
I think the consensus was I can still wear black so that's good news!
Awful weather, caught in a rain storm on the way to the tube, my snakeskin flats may well be trashed!

OP posts:
LinusDKD · 24/08/2013 16:46

Some boots for shop but maybe too late as she seems to be smitten by the pistols. ;-)

splendid

Catch-up when DC are asleep.

MrsRadicchio · 24/08/2013 19:17

Lovely afternoon, am feeling a bit woozy now - not used to alcohol anymore!

Marsha which coats did you like at Liberty?

Yay about the Pistols Shop - I really like the Cypress and Clover boot, would have been good to have a try on.

Welcome Mary (think I may follow Sleep and call you Owl if that is ok??) and Umlauf. Have you seen this blog post May be of use?!
