Is novice at longleat or elvedon? It's lovely and dry here in the south west if she's at longleat. About to put on the 4th load of washing since we got home. Then I have a pass to go shopping which is making me ridiculously excited! amber I haven't been emailed anything from gap. Is it on instore with no codes needed?

MarshaBrady · 25/08/2013 08:56

Love both Mary, really nice.

Me too Amber, can't wait. Need some nice new stuff.

What do people think about this Marant, are the holes a bit too much, too much flounce?

AmberNectarine · 25/08/2013 09:02

No code QueenC, just signs up in store!

shopafrolic · 25/08/2013 09:07

Glad you got through it Amber and yes, good day for cinema today. When I got home DH was going stir crazy - no idea how to deal with a toddler in the rain - answer was TV apparently Hmm
Foxy how are you?
Hate the rain, hate it. I got drowned yesterday when I left you Marsha. Hid out in the doorway of H&M without realising I was 4/5 doors down from &OtherStories. Such an idiot, I could have been browsing.....
Right, need to check back on everyone's links

It got colder when I got home Shop. I thought I wouldn't mind wearing a coat right now!

Annianni · 25/08/2013 09:33

Welcome Owly and Umlauf.

I'll never catch up!
I've got loads of links to add at some point, must turn the laptop on at some point...

Still working on Ds2's room, then hopefully seaside later for a walk.

Love the Marant's Marsha.
I've got the knit pinned too.

Glad the MU went well Envy

Annianni · 25/08/2013 09:36

I can probably do a Leeds meet, if there ever is one.
I think it took me an hour driving, the last time I went.

Umlauf · 25/08/2013 09:39

Thank you mrsR for that link, it's really useful and I've shared it with my antenatal thread. I'm looking for a ruched jersey skirt (as I'm a bit too hippy for the thin jersey tube ones) and quite like the me and em one but its black and I'd rather a warmer colour so I'm not sure.. Does anyone have this?

I love that dress marsha and can see it with black biker boots to de-flounce it for day.

mignonette · 25/08/2013 09:46

I like the print and fabric of the Marant Marsha but I'm a bit leary of anything too BoHo being quite small. I do not like like Talitha Getty when I wear it .But a tall person could pull that off if it was toughened up as Unlauf suggested. I would probably put a thin C+C California long sleeved Tank underneath in a very pale yellow or cream (Pink?) too. I like them under dresses.

Mary I like the dress and coat and I'd put them together.

Think Novice is at Elvedon.

Off now now to Southwold for another day out. Weather not brilliant so hope it brightens up for Novice..

MarshaBrady · 25/08/2013 10:13

Thanks Mig, Umlauf anni. Yep it's definitely at the flouncy end of my style. Hmm. I like the idea of toughening it up too. Might try it on in store.

Novice have a lovely time.

Anni more links, goodo Grin

Mig have a nice time.

shopafrolic · 25/08/2013 11:16

Toughening up would be good Marsha

BrandyAlexander · 25/08/2013 11:23

Hello! Yes I am at Elveden. It's not raining, hurrah! And the sun has come out :) it's nippy in the shade though.

I went out for a 40 min run this morning, its one of the things I love about CP or any holiday

There is no chance of wearing about 70% of what I have packed (as I thought I was packing for a heat wave!).

libertychick · 25/08/2013 15:00

Umlauf I have that Me&Em skirt in navy - it would be fantastic post CB as it's a lovely soft fold down adjustable waistband so you could wear it higher or lower as needed. The ruching makes it very flattering - I have it on today with a gap v neck blue t-shirt and silver flip flops.

Marsha my first thought was that I couldn't really see you in that dress - doesn't seem to fit with what I have seen of your style so far but styled as suggested with bikers etc it could be good. I like the cutout bits - make it less girly.

MarshaBrady · 25/08/2013 15:41

Thanks Liberty am thinking maybe not, not really me. Too much going on. But good to test the water on here sometimes.

libertychick · 25/08/2013 15:47

I've actually just had a browse to see if I could find a day dress for you Marsha but nothing is catching my eye - so far I'm not impressed with this A/W for dresses Smile

libertychick · 25/08/2013 15:54

Question for MrsR... are the white boots in your 333 list? or are they a sneaky addition? Smile

Decameron · 25/08/2013 16:14

Not crazy about that dress, Marsha, tbh, though lovely colour.

Umlauf, I have that skirt in black and navy, will probably get it in grey too, it's as good as Liberty says!

BrandyAlexander · 25/08/2013 16:42

Ooh Marsha I was going to post that the dress was not my cup of tea but I thought that it was me being dull Blush

Umlauf · 25/08/2013 16:44

Navy could work. what colour tights do you wear it with to stop it looking school uniformy?!

MarshaBrady · 25/08/2013 17:00

Don't worry I just saw it somewhere on pin and it looked diabolical on the person, so scratch that Grin

LinusDKD · 25/08/2013 19:09

Evening.

marsha I love the colour and the top bit of that Marant dress, but not the bottom bit.

It's a bit too flouncy and cut at weird angles. But I am a bit fussy about angles and symmetry. When we were house hunting I turned down a house because the windows were sticking out a weird angles and the rooms were weirdly shaped as well.

The fact that the location was great and the price way below our budget (owners were getting divorced so wanted a quick sale) didn't sway me one bit, much to DH's annoyance.

amber did you treat yourself at Gap?

Right, Sunday Night Style question: what brand/designer would you never buy from and for what reason?

I have a pet hate of everything that has been 'designed' by a celebrity, so I have walked away from some things that I liked but was put off by the celebrity tag and the matching price.

I will probably be banished from MNV forever after admitting this but I hated the whole Topshop/Kate Moss 'collaborations' with a passion.

And even though I like a lot of Victoria Beckham's clothes I wouldn't (even if I did have the money) buy them as she doesn't design them.

I do realise that a lot of designers have hordes of staff to design their accessories, bags, diffusion lines etc. But they did start out as designers who had talent and/or learned their craft and were responsible for their own designs, even though they might not be anymore now.

The only exception would be the LV Sofia Coppola handbag because
I am madly and deeply in love with it. Grin

MarshaBrady · 25/08/2013 19:22

Great question Linus.

I feel exactly the same about Victoria Beckham, I know she's done well to build a brand but that's it. She doesn't design it and the closer you get to the designer the more I like something.

So I would purposely not buy a VB dress or bag, too £££ anyway. But probably wouldn't say no if someone gave me something!

MarshaBrady · 25/08/2013 19:25

And agree that I forgive Sofia Coppola for the above as she is very cool.

Who did I see the other day? I think Rosamund Pike has designed something. Meh, they've got to get through the gruelling early creative years like everyone else.

AmberNectarine · 25/08/2013 19:35

Linus I bought a navy merino crew neck jumper as it will fill a very obvious hole in my wardrobe and create a lot of options for my 150 day challenge. My DH has very generously given me a bit of money to top up my workwear so I don't have to break my ban, which is kind of him (I desperately need trousers!

On that note, anyone got the Boden bistro crops?

Good Sunday night question - I can't see myself ever buying any Miu Miu, because it is just so far from my personal style. Likewise Prada. I find those labels way too feminine for me. I don't think I'd ever buy shoes or bags from Stella M - I love, love the Falabellas, but £700 for a plastic bag makes me want to cry.

mignonette · 25/08/2013 19:35

Hi all, Hope you all had a lovely Sunday. Weather turned gorgeous as we arrive in Southwold and got parking space right on the seafront. Spent a while wandering around the stores but it has deteriorated terribly, full of gift shops selling overpriced crap designed to relieve vacationers of their money. Saw a gorgeous soft leather satchel though only £100 and dithered over it then walked away. The Chelsea-ites have chased away all the fish and chip shops near the front so drove to Dunwich and sat/lay on the beach w/ said food items until 4. Spent a couple of hours walking through Minsmere Nature Reserve then home. Managed to swap my on call tonight so don't have to race back to the city.

Linus The Sunday night question. I'm cynical about celeb collaborations too. The only Kate Moss (Kate's Dross is what we named the clothes) item I liked was the chalk stripe yellow/black city shorts and jacket suit which I bought. I'm very cynical about the H&M celeb collabs-the Anna Del Russo was a pile of pants as was the cheap Versace knock offs.

Come to think of it I'd probably never buy Versace because i question the taste of a designer who looks like they've been dipped in creosote and surgically implanted with lumps of foam. Versace seems to tarty for me as does Cavalli. Weird how Italy can produce Miuccia Prada and Consuela Castiglione with their Prada/Marni exquisiteness and then Donatella w/ her 'designs'.

I'm not much of a fan of Ralph Lauren either. I loved Balenciaga when Ghesquiere designed for it but wouldn't bother now Alexander Wang is at the helm. He is okay for American sportswear (tanks and pants) but high end conceptual stuff such as is Balenciaga's remit-not convinced he is the guy.

I wouldn't buy a Birkin-as gorgeous as they are. They are too WAG now. Seeing the Ecclestone girls tottering about w/ them has devalued the design for me. I liked the Chanel 2:55 but seeing every TOWIE Tom, Dick & Harry carting them about like lap dogs has again devalued them. They'll have to go on probation until the WAGS move onto something else.

My dream designers are ones like Rodarte, Preen, Rei Kawakubo, Casadei, early Proenza and Thakoon....The more conceptual and non mainstream the better. And Christopher Kane before he got snapped up by the big fish.
