On the colour clash front: I did honestly go out in the following yesterday:

Short dark ish green knitted dress with long line bright pink cardigan, bright purple tights and pink brogues in the same shade as aforementioned cardigan.

I probably looked a total muppet but I liked it! And all natural fibres too (except tights) which I'm a bit fussy about.

libertychick · 23/08/2013 22:49

Sounds good MaryTO

Have just tried on the Topshop skirt and it's great shape etc but v v thin - on closer look I now realise that you can see the models knickers Grin Why don't I spot these things???? More returns - sigh....

MaryTheOwl · 23/08/2013 22:52

What on earth would make them sell a see-through skirt?!

It is nice though so that's a shame. But I value my modesty too much. I mean, my underwear's nice and everything but I l don't need the rest of the world to know that.

Sleepwhenidie · 23/08/2013 22:58

Wow Mary, great colours! Do you mind me asking how old you are? You sound very similar in style to our lovely nanny who is a proper East London (style-wise and where she lives) girl - very cool, slightly crazy dresser but always looks great. She is 26, if I wore the things she does though, I'd just look like a mad bag lady Grin

Decam the mountains are great but I have to leave, if only to avoid gaining several stone in weight. I don't much enjoy the exercise on offer here (steep hills in all directions make running and cycling really hard!), there is no gym, so I become incredibly lazy. This, with the staple diet of baguettes, cheese, ham and copious quantities of wine every day are not a good combination, waistline wise Grin. Typical that now, with my 'summer tummy' as I call it, there is a week of bikini wearing to do Hmm. Still, I will enjoy the last week and start undoing the damage in September Grin!

OneLittleLady · 23/08/2013 23:02

Thank you Decam Blush

Mary you are not alone with the mad colour combos. Although my wardrobe is heavy with blacks, I very often mix and match colours much to my sisters disgust! She's very into matchy matchy things and I just throw things on without much care Grin

MaryTheOwl · 23/08/2013 23:13

Cheers Sleep!

I'm 31 but look younger - which I used to hate but am coming round to the idea. I was asked for ID buying superglue once. And it was only a couple of years ago.

However, I will be on my guard and toning it down a bit when my honest friends tell me it doesn't suit me any more!

mignonette · 23/08/2013 23:15

French Pharmacie purchases for Sleep

Cetaphil cleanser-nothing is gentler, all the models use this during fashion week
Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse (smells gorgeous) here
and the gentle exfoliating gel w/ rose here
Nuxe fondant shower gel here

Le Petit Marsellaise shower gels
Bourjois Shower gels
Vichy facial gel washes (so refreshing) and other products as they have a bigger range than is available over here
Senteurs Fraiches Eau Jeune (in green glass bottle)
Apricoderm range here
Christian Breton ice gel eye stick

Roger et Gallet- any of their bath products are wonderful
Agnes B Apricot complexion enhancer and any of the make up, the rose cleanser and the Agnes B facial cream w/ rose
Cosmence moisturising eyes hydrasource
Mistral Dauphine soaps in the wonderful packaging.

Some more utilitarian products i like are

Gifrer liniment made w/ limewater and olive oil. Meant for babies, it is good for adults.
Biafine blam for burns and dryness. Look out for Elmex tooth cleaning range too.

These are all products I use and they are on my face & body pinboard.

mignonette · 23/08/2013 23:18

Am off to bed now but will speak again soon. At Orford tomorrow for lunch at the Crown and Castle yum.

shopafrolic · 24/08/2013 08:41

Bloody rain! So today is the day where I find out if non Autumn colours suit me. I'm wearing J Crew grey marl tee, CE skinnies, black leather bomber jacket, snakeskin flats, Mulberry feather print scarf and that black Mulberry handbag. See you soon.
Foxy how are you feeling?

Good morning everyone! Ds woke us up at 6.30am and looked out of the window in horror to see it chucking it down. Also, the weather forecast of a massive heat wave has been downgraded overnight. Except.....I packed for a heat wave!Angry

Hello to Mary! Glad you delurked! I am a very classic dresser but I have been reintroducing colours into my wardrobe this year, after getting it horribly wrong in my 20s, I played safe in my 30s. This year I have worn plenty of bright oranges and pinks. I look forward to being inspired by youSmile

Foxy, I so hope you have woken up feeling better.

Amber, so sorry to hear about your dh's work schedule. Never fun for the person doing the punishing hours or the other half who is left to pick up the slack, especially when your own hours aren't 9 to 5 either.Sad

To Marsha, Shop and Liberty - have fun at the meet up! Can't wait to hear about outfits and chat.

Drywhiteplease · 24/08/2013 08:47

Great outfit Shop have a really great day !

Styleguile is coming to Guernsey!!!! Funny if I bumped into her!Grin

shopafrolic · 24/08/2013 08:50

MrsR are you still coming despite the rain? Hope so.
Novice off to the shop for you to buy a fleece that will only ever be worn at CP! :)
Dry how much longer are you there for?

Decameron · 24/08/2013 08:52

Outfit sounds lovely, Shop, have fun.

I don't know what I will do with the DDs today, DH is working too and very late last night. DD2 (age 2) has suggested going to the shoe shop!

shopafrolic · 24/08/2013 08:55

Shopping it is then Decam !

Back tomorrow. It's been a wonderful two weeks....but can't wait to be back in my house .

mignonette · 24/08/2013 09:38

Sleep - I have pinned more of my French pharmacy/store products that I have or have used. I especially recommend you look out for KLorane products, their shampoos are wonderful and the Quinine BB shampoohere is good at tackling any hair thinning. Anybody experiencing this should try this shampoo. The citrus pulp shampoo smells of the South of France with its herbal, orange and lemon scent here. This peony one is on my bathroom shelf.

The Klorane make up removers are excellent for all sensitive skins and together with Clarins Alpine milk, was my choice for teenage skins when they start wearing make up. The blue bottles/tubes look beautiful too here. Another love is their baby range. I still use the baby cream wash.

Look out for this cream used by Make up artists as a smooth pre make up base. Bioderma's make up remover here for extra sensitive skin has a great pharmacy style bottle and works.

The Nuxe range of lipglosses are beautiful and not sure if they are available here although I know M&S have started stocking Nuxe Huile Prodogieuse which has got to have one of the most delicious scents ever.

Safe journey home Dry, Foxy how do you feel today?

Have a lovely MU!

carrie74 · 24/08/2013 09:50

Hope the meet up goes well, and hope you're feeling better this morning foxy.

I had a dream a couple of nights ago about my first formative boyfriend (who popped in and out of my life from 16-20). Something compelled me to stalk him look him up, and via a route of various friends of friends. Found him on FB, but he's not posted much, one pic (he looks the same but a bit greyer, DH has been a much better choice Wink). But now I want to know MORE! Is he married/in a relationship, does he have kids? Weirdly it looks as though he might also be in Bristol (not too weird, we both grew up in Devon, so quite a few have ended up around here) so theoretically our paths could actually cross. Shock It would be way to weird to friend him on FB, right (although I may have sent a friend request to a mutual friend this morning. When I say mutual friend, I mean someone I knew when I was 17, and is highly unlikely to remember me).

mignonette · 24/08/2013 10:02

Carrie BIG red danger signs. Keep away from old BF's Grin...Seriously, It is very tempting but keep away.

shopafrolic · 24/08/2013 10:04

STOP Carrie. Step away from the computer. IME the guy will think you're looking to ressurrect something even though you're not.
Am sat in hairdressers. We're going for a Stella Tennant look. Wish I could walk out with her face and body too!

LinusDKD · 24/08/2013 10:21

sleep, mig has already given you a comprehensive list of the best that's on offer in French Pharmacies but I would like to add some stuff for the children.

I love, love, love Mustela as it reminds me of when I was little and I use it on my children as well.

Other nice children's brands are Klorane and Uriage and Bioderma has some nice sunscreens for kids and moisturisers for adults.

Have a nice time at the mini MU today!

MrsRadicchio · 24/08/2013 10:23

Ooh sounds good Shop. See you later.

Second (third?) what everyone has said Carrie - no good can come from it!

MrsRadicchio · 24/08/2013 10:25

Just a boring question while I have access to the PC:

What do you do about your leather soled shoes - do you get a rubber sole put over them, or just not wear in the rain?

I have a few but I just end up never wearing them!

mignonette · 24/08/2013 10:26

I like the look of this Linus. Have you used it? Am making up a care parcel for my little niece in Germany and this product might be a good one to include. I tend to be very careful w/ family babies because we have a lot of eczema in the generations and try to avoid waking a 'sleeping giant' so to speak. Any other recommendations?

Turquoiseblue · 24/08/2013 10:26

Morning all, we re on our way to a last hurrah weekend away before school reopens here. Have packed way too much for 3 nights!
Foxy - hope you feel better this morning. Try some alternate heat / ice too and gentle stretches. Hope you manage to get to your yoga.
Enjoy the m u all.
Congrats on the house novice and good luck with the house hunt hopefully.
Carrie - old bf - belong in the past fr a reason.
Dec - my dd hates shoes and shoe shopping - but spotted a red pair of ankle boots last time we were out ok town - they re on her wish List now. I ve promised her she can have them for winter. Her current favourite footwear is a purple pair trainers - which she wears with everything !
I treated myself to the new Chanel cc cream yesterday and a lipstick - wearing them today and very pleased . It s much much nicer than my previous BObbi brown n cream. Highly recommend.

mignonette · 24/08/2013 10:48

MrsR Do you know I have never thought about that. I imagine that cows are waterproof so would probably wear them as men's shoes historically were leather soled before rubber was invented Grin...They can be slippery though in the wet especially rain after a dry spell when the roads and pavements are greasy.
Deciding what to wear today in the rain at Orford Ness on the East Anglian coast Confused is a challenge. Likely candidates include my DM Bikers here which have a few more wears left in them, a pair of cream Uniqlo cotton socks peering over the top, my indigo TopShop kilt skirt that is identical to this one in style and this aqua sweat top with this underneath which i wore to work last week. Not sure whether wearing pants w/ those boots really works hence the skirt but will take my Jack Purcell Comme plimsolls with me for the beach in case it gets warmer plus the silver Edelman sandals for lunch at the Crown & Castle. Have already decided that I want the Fish soup w/ Rouille and Beef Carpaccio or crab, leek and parsley on toast so they had better be on the menu!
